some people are foul. what a horrible thing to come home to. I know what you mean though. my dad has had chairs stolen off on his teeny tiny porch. WTH people? you have to steal chairs from an old guy? like I said, people are foul.

If you have a pool, I would definitely be asking neighbors. Too much liability not to ask around. Who knew you would be gone?
One thought is if they can scale your fence, is it possible they took the cushions after swimming/using the furniture/etc? To take away any evidence that they were there (spilled drinks, etc)
It is odd.....And I would install more security lighting etc....

We keep our outside lights on at all times and we have timed lights that come on in the garden. Dh checked out back gate. It wasn't locked. He locked it before we left, and he has re-locked it. He thinks maybe our gardener didn't lock it after a visit last week. One of our neighbour's is away. On the other side, the couple doesn't leave their house anymore . I'll go over and ask them if they saw anything. No, no swimming pool. And no one entered our garage.

That's crazy.
My parents had a similar crazy story a couple years ago. They live on a lake with a fenced back yard - except at the lake bank. They had just bought nice new metal and teak outdoor furniture at the beginning of summer. It was HEAVY and on their back patio, inside the fence. They went away for a weekend in July and came back to discover it was all gone. A dining table and six chairs, two lounge chairs and an outdoor couch. They had motion detector lights/video on the patio and the video showed that three men had brought a boat up to the shore in the middle of the night and had taken FOUR trips to get all the furniture. Ballsy. Unfortunately, the angle of the camera didn't really get any usable face shots and the darkness on the lake made it impossible to tell where they went once they left. The police never found out who did it. Nuts.

Not that I'm wishing this on you, but - - I would have expected them to just the furniture and all if that's what they were interested in. How bizarre! Maybe teenagers?

He would know you were away and what you had in your yard. Strange, very strange. So sorry this happened to you.

If it happened to me I would tell the neighbors and call the police. While I honestly don't think you'll ever get them back it could help police notice a pattern if it's happened to other people.

While I honestly don't think you'll ever get them back it could help police notice a pattern if it's happened to other people. ditto this Years ago a friend in Vancouver met one of her neighbors when she came to the door to ask if she (my friend) had seen anyone at their house that day. The neighbors came home from work to find their house had been cleaned out. My friend noticed the "moving truck" there that afternoon, but didn't think anything of it. Only clothes in closets and some kitchen stuff was left behind. I am very thankful for our neighbors and they know when we are going to be away (and who they might see at the house while we are gone). We are lucky that 2 work at home and 1 is retired and makes it his job to watch/question things happening.

That is rediculous! People will take anything given the chance.
When we moved recently, we left two very large unused boxes on the back porch to collect later. You can't see the porch from the road, but when we went back, the boxes were gone.

I knew I heard about Kelowna before - my oldest DS was at the music festival there. He and some mates were staying with a friend in Vancouver, and went to Pemberton Music Festival and Kelowna. They also went to that same friend's lake house, but I'm not sure where that is. Sorry your cushions got stolen. It never fails to surprise me what people will steal.
