I was just reading about this last night. It turned my stomach as well.
That poor, poor baby.
Unbelievable.

I am not a parent, but borrow kids a lot because I think they're generally awesome. The thought that some parent could do this to their child...I can't comprehend it.

This whole thing makes me sick. If it's true that he committed murder, I'd love to see the death penalty be death by hot car. Sometimes, the whole "eye for an eye" thing feels very appropriate.

Dear God. That is awful. I saw the story when it first broke and thought not again. But, deliberate??........... I can't find the words. RIP

I can't read it. I feel sick just thinking of it. I haven't heard about it until now. I read a story in People magazine while waiting at an appt and am still not recovered from reading that. When it involves a child...I just can't fathom.

He's a POS if it's true. I wonder how the mom is coping-I can't imagine going through something like this.

I still feel traumatised from watching the safety film that was made last year to warn people about this.
How anyone could do it deliberately to their own child...

The sad thing about this is that there will really be no justice in a case like this. What punishment that our country uses would come close to comparing to what this poor baby had to suffer through. Prison is too good for him...

Where is the mom in all this? Are they still together? Either way the whole situation is sad.

It is sickening. To think over 1,000 people signed a petition online to protest the fact that he was charged with murder.

And the @sshole went out to the car to put something in it. I think he was checking to see if the child was dead. I wonder at what point that poor baby passed away.
I can't even fathom

Did they say they found actually searches relating to a child in a hot car? The last report I read said he searched for animal death in a hot car.
If he really did use this as a method of homicide... I hope they put him in the general population and tell all the gang bangers he killed his baby by leaving him in the car...He will wish he'd gotten the death penalty.

I don't understand how anyone can do something like that. I can't remember the age of the boy, but everyone is saying "baby" so I am assuming under a year old? Why didn't the dad put him up for adoption if he didn't want his son. So many families would love to adopt him. That's just so sad!

I know there's a lot of evil in the world, and that it is possible that this man deliberately killed his son. But I'm hoping that's not the case, and I'm not convinced yet.
I've googled hot car deaths, out of curiosity when I've seen cases reported and to see if something like cracking the windows a bit would keep a car cooler. I've googled lots of other things, too, many as a direct result of things I've read on 2peas, even. I'd hate to be judged by my Google searches! I've also forgotten to drop my child at daycare - fortunately I noticed her in the back seat as I got out of the car and then drove 15 miles back towards home to drop her off.
I think both police and family are being quiet on what they may know, which is fine with me. I'm withholding judgment for now. I hope this man did not deliberately harm his child, and I hope he is not punished for having done so if it was truly an accident. But if this was a purposeful killing, then I think he deserves whatever he gets, because I can think of little worse than a parent killing an innocent, defenseless child.

I'd like to think I could keep the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" in mind, but how do you forget your child is in the back of your vehicle when you just strapped him in after having breakfast half a mile away?

I'm waiting for co-workers to come forth and talk about his conduct during the day. He puts the baby in a car seat at home, drives to McDonalds, takes baby out of car seat, eats breakfast, puts the baby back in a car seat and forgets the baby in a half mile ... and when he used onsite daycare? Onsite implies he took the baby to daycare all the time, as opposed to it being unusual for his day, and he's putting the baby in and out of the car seat several times. Totally not your "typical" baby in a car death. Dude totally thought he'd get off.
Maybe it is time to start holding parents responsible for killing their babies by forgetting about them.

I agree, cropaholicnora, this guy deserves to die in a hot car, but slowly - heat it up, cool it down a few times so he really feels it!

But the thing you googled didn't happen the next day. I would like to think that if you were of mind to google something because of something said here or just out of curiosity, it would make you overly cautious instead of completely careless. I am sorry, but his routine was to take the child inside with him, he did this on purpose. Maybe he couldn't afford the child, or the parents were getting a divorce, or something...but he meant to no longer have this child alive.

I have to agree with mdoc. Should I stop looking things up on the Internet for fear of being charged with a heinous crime? I watch a lot of true crime shows, so I google all sorts of wacky things...doesn't mean I'm going to commit a crime.
If this dad did intentionally kill his child I wholeheartedly agree that he should be put to death by being locked in a hot car.

I was listening to CNN on Sirius radio and I cannot remember but it was an investigator who reports on HLN and it was discussed that the father went to the vehicle at lunch and then again when he left work and drove the vehicle to another location. This is so gruesome but the investigator said the smell would be so bad when he opened the car door that there was no way he could not have known and the "discovery" was staged.

I read that Washington Post article a few years ago about parents who accidentally leave their kids in hot cars and it has haunted me since. I just can't imagine, if he did this on purpose, how horrible a person he would have to be.
