We bought all new stainless steel Fridgidaire Gallery appliances in May 2012. Just over two years ago. I had a one year warranty, but chose not to pay the extra to extend the warranties.
You can see this coming, can't you? This morning, our dishwasher has died. It's not dead, dead, but it fills, sits, fills, empties and then sits. My 80 minute cycle has now gotten stuck with 45 minutes remaining. I've tried different cycles and it seems to repeat its pattern.
I'm mad because it still feels new to me. I'm mad that there is no warranty (my fault, I'll own it). I'm mad because now I'm worried that the other appliances may go out too.
Grrrr! I shouldn't need to make a service call when the dishwasher is barely two years old. And, there are only two of us in the house, so you know I'm not running a lot of loads per week.
Sigh...it could be worse.

Dang, that's no fun! It's probably the circuit board and hopefully won't cost much to replace.
I have a dishwasher the same age as yours. I went with Kenmore. My dishes come out wet even though I have it on the drying cycle. I am really beginning to hate all new appliances. I have a washer the same age as well and within the first couple of months had to have a technician come out to fix it. He said all the computer crap they put in the new appliances are not very reliable.

Yes it could be worse but it doesn't make this any less frustrating. Hopefully the fix is something easy and cheap.

I have just had to have 3 separate faults fixed on an 8 month old cooker,so I really sympathise. The grill door hinges broke, two knobs broke off and the main oven seal failed. I am now considering taking out the extended warranty ( they have just offered me the opportunity again) but I really resent it.
I am another who absolutely hates getting new white goods- the new always disappoints and never last as long as the one they replace!

Sounds like a control panel issue. Google your brand and model and add the word "problems" or "complaints". You'll probably find boards where other people have had the same problem. It's always a good idea knowing from the start what might be wrong. If you find a lot of complaints about the same issue, call the manufacturer's helpline, explain what's happening, and tell them what you've found from your online research. I got a no-charge replacements of my oven's control panel and my cooktop's controllers because I did my research and just told the company that I didn't think it was right that I should have to pay for replacement parts for parts that were known to be defective. The cooktop was about 6 months past its 5 year warranty and the oven was a year past its 5 year warranty.

I agree whenever I have an issue I start to "Google" things so I have an idea when the repair person comes that I know if I'm being taken advantage of. I agree sounds like a control panel issue. Good Luck.

Is there any chance that you put it on a credit card that gives you an additional warranty? Ours doubles whatever the manufacturers warranty is.
But I feel your pain - our 1 year old fridge makes a strange noise and it's getting worse.

Thanks for the sympathy and advice. I did put it on the credit card, so I'll look into that! I'm also off to do my research and tomorrow I'll make a phone call. It could be worse, really, I know that, but I appreciate the support.

I don't know how handy you are, but seriously consider searching videos on Youtube to help fix your problem.
I fixed our washing machine and on a different occasion, our dryer, this way. Even ordered the needed part online. Well my husband did the work, but I did the research and told him exactly what to do. He is NOT a handyman.

We extended the life of our old dryer by a year by watching you tube videos and ordering the parts. Once it was the control panel and once it was something with the motor. Finally ended up having to buy a new dryer but the old one was about 13 years old.
I hope your problem is easily and cheaply fixable!

I literally just posted the follow up to my broken dishwasher thread. I highly recommend googling your make/model & the problem. I was able to order a replacement part for mine & fix it myself saving big bucks! (And I am so not handy!)
