Well it's official, I need to get a new oven. The burners on top still work but the oven has died. It's funny how it never feels like you've had an appliance for very long until you check out the date it was made and realize it was made in 1999. Yikes! No wonder it died. It's an electric stove so you know it's the brain part that died, so even if a part was still available it would be money better spent towards a new one.
I do quite a bit of baking but not sure I can justify running out to get a new one right away. I can always bake at my SO's if I share whatever it is I make.
Any suggestions on electric stoves? I had a flat top one from Frigidaire.
Have a great day everyone.

I went to a local appliance store & got a great stove that had a small dent in the very back corner for a great deal.
Delivering was free, they made sure it was even & removed the old stove free. Uncomplicated & supporting a local business.

We bought a Kenmore (Sears) flat-top some years ago and it's still going strong. I liked the Sears "pay it off over a year's time with no interest" thing, and it's free delivery, and they take away the old stuff. And one of our installer guys was a dog person and my dog, who hates anyone coming into her house, was fawning all over him. lolol... Anyway, that's what we bought. I love the flat top, so easy to keep clean. On the other hand...my very first thought when I read the title of your post was "ditch the whole stove, put a nice cabinet there, and buy two pressure cookers! lol

One thing I forgot to mention, is that my SO's house is walking distance from mine. So I could whip it up at home and just walk up the hill to his house to use his oven. I hate his kitchen set up so much it would stress me to much to cook there.

I've always had good luck with Kenmore appliances from Sears. Probably why the one I have won't die so I can justify replacing it.

Mine is gas, but I love it. I bought a Kitchen Aid double oven style last year. I love the double oven.

I'm glad I read this thread! You all just reminded me that I need to go start the clean oven cycle because I had a grease spill in my oven the last time I used it. Forgot all about it. Rain is on the way but today is still nice enough to keep my doors open so off I go to take care of this smelly job. Thanks! (And happy stove shopping!)

If you have a Sears Outlet store nearby, check it out. One just opened near us and they seemed to have good prices on an assortment of appliances. Would be especially good if you're not set on a particular model, as their inventory is hit or miss.
