Anyone else feel this way? I was sitting at my desk yesterday looking at 2 kits I had pulled together for 2 vacations we took in May and June. I couldn't wait to buy the stuff and print the pics and get started when we got back from the trips, and I am excited to scrap them. But I thought of all the other trips that are still not completed. 2 disney trips San diego Lego land Sedona Grand Canyon San Francisco Not to mention holidays..... I realized I am all over the place!! Nothing holds my attention for long! I'm not a chronological scrapper, I scrap what I feel like scrapping. And hence this has created the problem of all the unfinished projects. And as I sat there looking at starting this new Sedona and San Diego scrapbooks, I couldn't start cause I thought, start another project? Shouldn't I finish all the others 1st? Or at least one?!! I also have 3 kids that I scrap. And after a recent reorganization of my albums I realized my middle DS was a bit neglected in the scrappy department... I know, I know! Poor neglected middle child!! None of my kids books are up to date Anyone else feel like they are all over the place? Any suggestions to help me get my act together?! Or should I just let it ride?

You aren't the only one. I got on a kick of wanting to get caught up on my ongoing birthday album for my kids. I scrapped a few pages and now I'm bored and NOT caught up. I'm now in a Halloween mood, with a lingering feeling of working on the Family Album since I'm 2 years behind.

Oh my gosh, yes! Unfortunately I have no words of wisdom for you because I am in the same boat. So many projects sitting around half-done, and constantly thinking of more.
But at least you know you're not alone!

I made a decision that 2016 was going to be my year of finishing up old projects. I'm not doing too badly, but wow, I have a lot to go! I might have to extend it into 2017 as well. I have no advice, other than the obvious to work on something that interests you, maybe the most recent first (that's how I made a dent, but everyone's different). Glad I'm in good company as well!

I scrapbook pretty randomly, too. But, I do albums for a big vacation, like Alaska, all at once. I make a push to complete it all before starting anything else.
I also break up things where I know I will have multiple layouts, like Christmas. I am trying to reduce how many photos I scrap for holidays. I pick a couple for each thing I want to capture - like baking cookies - and then scrapbook that. Otherwise I am completely overwhelmed thinking about all the Christmas photos I have to scrapbook.

I don't do much current scrapping apart from pics of my niece and the odd Story Kit layout. At the moment my big project is to scrap photos from past trips - did a lot of traveling when I lived in the UK in the 90s. I'm making good progress and like to work on one main thing at a time - otherwise I do get confused.
I break up the scrapping sessions with card making though - just for a bit of variety.

This is me in my life for the most part. As a result, I made it a point to not do that with my scrappy stuff for a while. That's why I kept going in order for my 2014 PL album worried that if I moved on, it would never get finished. But now that it's done, I do like to jump around a bit.
It's natural to want to jump around, especially if you want a photo or event to inspire you. Maybe you can alternate a bit and not get bored?

Oh gosh, yes. Just a few days ago I finally took our "Vacation 2013" box off the shelf, deciding to finish it before scrapping our newest vacation (and kind of dreading it). I was pleasantly surprised to find it almost complete. Why didn't I finish it back then? 'Cuz I got bored, frankly! A couple of evenings and the album is finished. Feels like a great accomplishment to be all up-to-date on vacation albums before I start the current one.

Anyone else feel like they are all over the place? Any suggestions to help me get my act together?! Or should I just let it ride? I think that you may be experiencing a bit of guilt and that is clearly contributing to your paralysis and your non-finishing of projects. Have you tried to scrap one layout/spread for a couple of unfinished albums a week? You can commit to a couple of them and keep working on them one hour/scrap session a week or have a rotation system, doesn't matter. It will allow you to bring the fun of new scrap products to these albums as they are released without feeling "stuck" in a certain product line, mindset and not harbouring these negative feelings of guilt and/or shame. Just find a way that allows you to feel like you're moving forward AND keeps enough free time for you to start on new projects too. This is your hobby, treat it like a passion: fuel it with what makes you smile and happy. There is no need to finish in one go one project. You can butterfly in between all these albums. Just find a system that at the very least semi-works for you and allows you to make some progress. And above all, enjoy it! Don't be afraid to start a new album for a new project because you haven't finished others. It's ok.

(raises hand) yup -I can relate...I bounce back and forth between projects. In August alone: - I worked on our Chicago Road Trip album (but it's not finished yet) - I organised photos and layouts for the 2009 family album, scanned the January layouts, and ordered the remaining photos (and am currently working on a layout for March...apparently I didn't take any Feb photos that year) -I finished up the remaining handful of layouts for Jan and Feb in the 2012 family album -I did the remaining layouts for Sept in the 2014 album -I made a bunch of cards -I cleaned/organised/purged my scrapbook supplies I made a decision that 2016 was going to be my year of finishing up old projects. I'm not doing too badly, but wow, I have a lot to go! I might have to extend it into 2017 as well. Yes - me too...and it's DEFINITELY going to be 2017 also...and maybe 2018 as well...

carolynhasacat that's a great Idea, giving myself a goal to get caught up on at least some things! I'd be happy at this point with at least 1 finished album!

I'm all over the place these days. I think mine is because I don't always have everything I need to work on a project, like what size album will it be in. If I don't have the albums picked out how do I know what size to scrapbook. So today I went and purchased the albums to start even more projects.
I have a box (not Iris, but does the same job) for each project with the kit, the right size page protectors, pictures, etc in it. That way I can scrapbook exactly what I WANT to work on. My last completed project was eight 12x12 albums for my husbands siblings and Dad for Christmas. They lost their mother suddenly a year ago tomorrow and many tears were shed over those albums...all 496 pages of them. After taking three months to complete, I've bounced around ever since. I really hope to turn things back around and start completing my many projects!

My trips are always my first priority. I finished three albums from 2016 and now am back to 2001. Not nearly as much fun.
I would do the two trips you just took. You are excited about those.

I can totally relate.
I saw a German scrapbooker who made a scrapbook about all of her unfinished project. She wrote everything on a list and tried to work on one/two or more each month. After finishing the project, she took a photo and put it in a smashbook. She had enough time to work on new stuff as well.

Just tell people what I tell them, that you're working on your Ph. D in scrapbooking: Projects half Done! LOL. I honestly don't know what a 'finished' album looks like. My scrapbooks are kind of like life, it isn't finished until I'm dead!

Anyone else feel like they are all over the place? Any suggestions to help me get my act together?! Or should I just let it ride? Just let it ride. You are blessed with lots of things to scrap about. Be happy about it, not stressed about it. And it's okay if you dabble in one project, then dabble in another without finishing one straight through. My only suggestion would be to keep each project's materials separate. I like to use a 2 gallon ziplock bag for each project. Then all paper, embellies, etc can be slipped in and put up on a shelf easily enough.

I LOVE starting projects with all the possibilities and ideas popping in my head. I buy papers and supplies before I even have the experience because I KNOW I will love scrapping about it! I love working on projects when all those possibilities are still out there. I get out all the photos and all my pretties and sift through it all and away I go. I HATE finishing projects. I always have more I want to put into the album--more pages, more photos, more page designs. And at some point the energy and creativity run out. It all starts to be,...well,...boring. Or frustrating, because I have created such a mess I can't find anything, or I am no longer sure if I printed a particular photo or set of photos that I [need] for a particular page. Or time consuming because I made it a huge job when it didn't have to be and there are other things going on in my life, I have other photos screaming to be scrapped: this is becoming WORK... I get the most joy out of this hobby when I am scrapping what is on top of my mind and on top of my table, a page at a time, loving the process and loving the memories. Don't let guilt take over, @charliegirl . Scrap what you want to scrap right now. Play. This is a hobby, not a job. And my motto in this, as in life is "Don't SHOULD on yourself!"

I say don't worry about it. If your worrying causes you to stop scrapping then your hobby is no longer fun. Scrap what you want. Buy the pretty things. I bet you'll finish those albums one day when the muse hits.
