Okay, literally just thought of this, and it might be the most ridiculous idea ever, or it might be fun.
I'm going to make a time capsule layout.
I'm going to write the date of "burial."
And just have random facts about my day to day life, as well as the world at large.
My cell phone number is:
My address is:
Today's high/low temperatures were:
The headlines of the day were:
The cost of gas/milk/etc today is:
Today I am __ years old. My kids ages too.
For fun I ___.
My email address is:
And on & on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay. Finished my layout. It's fairly generic, but still pretty much what I wanted it to be. I had a hard time balancing aesthetics with lots of information. I really wanted to use the little arrows. This was actually the second layout I did. The first one was just so busy (In a sleep deprived moment, I chose screamingly loud pattern paper, then layered from there. It's not horrible, but I wanted something more readable).
Okay, so here it is:
Obviously, for privacy, I didn't fill in a lot of info.
on the Hello My Name Is sticker, above "time capsule" I will use letter stickers to spell "Lavender's" so that it will read "Hello my name is Lavender's Time Capsule."

Sounds like a great idea to me! Interesting topic for a layout or even a mini album.

That's a great idea! You've got my brain spinning with things to capture - what I wear, what I listen to, what I watch, what technology I use, what I do, etc.

That would be fun to place in scrapbooks occasionally, not just once.
I am thinking I should put that sort of thing in the scrapbooks I make for my grandchildren.
How about adding "Something you don't know about me"?

This is such a fun idea for those who don't keep a record of this on a regular basis! I love that you want to add the date of the "burial" and for anyone making this around Halloween, there would be so many great embellishments to add that spooky burial touch to it. I keep a record of what I watch, which music I'm currently obsessed with (there is a song mention almost every single week, and a playlist every season), photos of journal headlines that I find important/speak to my world vision or personal life, my technology when I change laptop/phone, books read recently that had an impact on me, outfits/clothes I'm currently crazy about and wear all the time, and the price of a baguette at the bakery/metro ticket/etc. (on a yearly basis for those) in my PL album so this would be superfluous but I think it's a really smart idea for all those who don't! It's so much fun to come across an old page, reminding yourself of the entire atmosphere of a particular season X years back by looking at everything that was buzzing in your world back then. I hope you all include the "dreaded" selfie! I promise you won't care that you weren't having the best hair day or had that goofy smile years later when you flip through the pages. Honestly, your reaction will simply be to talk about how you loved doing this makeup look or just had changed your hair colour and were loving it...

Sounds like a great idea LavenderLayoutLady ! And the added suggestions are awesome Don't forget to include your own handwriting. There are/were lots of "Currently..." PL cards awhile ago. And Simple Stories had a line a year or so ago called "I am" with some great titles and prompts. It would be fun to get the kids involved. Give them a list of open statements/ questions-- or ask them to help come up with the list...

This is the BEST idea! I haven't been keeping up on project life for the past few years, so this would be perfect. I'm going to add all the suggested prompts and text them to my kids to compile individual ones. Maybe have them hand write a few answers. Maybe an ongoing album? Once a year add another list of questions?
Don't take this in a snarky way...I'm so excited! I just LOVE having new albums to work on...thanks!

I have an entire album in the works for this very same thing. It encompasses 2 years because...well, I just didn't get finished last year.

This could easily morph into a whole album, but if you want to keep it as a single page I was thinking...
A few years ago, we did a Gratitude Box at Thanksgiving. The kids passed around "I am grateful for..." cards, everyone filled one in, then put it into the box when it came around. When I scrapped Thanksgiving, I made a little book out of the cards with some plain cs pages and a cover, then attached the back cover to the page and slipped the pages and the front of the little book through the page protector so it sits on top. With another couple of slits in the page and the protector, I was able to tie the little book shut with a ribbon.
So now, going through the album, you can look at the overall page with the little book cover part of it or untie the ribbon to read the entries. A couple of times, I did the same with photos of guests at a kids' bd party.

For ideas here's some of the things I keep up with:
Gas prices (high and low) Packaging of grocery items we commonly use (I imagine looking back 20 years and think so and so looked like that???) I've taken a picture of the outside of our house during each of the different seasons as well as the back yard High, low, and unusual temps or weather Pictures of places we visit often (grocery store, restaurants, church, family homes) My work space A picture of my current phone A typical work outfit Movie ticket prices Mileage on our cars Pictures of individual rooms in our house Pictures of the inside of the fridge, freezer, and pantry Utility bills during 2 different parts of the year What's in my purse Favorite tv shows Handwriting samples Popular movies Some sports A couple of our church bulletins Holiday decorations Gifts I've given/received throughout the year News headlines
etc.....
Its a fun project.

This sounds similar to the "Currently" layouts I do sometimes. I might list our current favorite songs or tv shows, one kid is into comics or superhero movies or we're in a sushi phase or what we're reading. They're really fun to look at when some time has passed.

I found this by Googling, katemats.com/time-capsule-questions-for-reflections-on-your-birthday/Maybe it's my stage of life, by these resonated with me, there are more in the post: What are you most worried about? What is one amazing thing you expect to do in the coming year? What is your favorite recent memory? What were the top 3 accomplishments from the last year? What made you laugh the hardest most recently? What are you best at? What do you think are you greatest assets and skills? What are your life goals at the moment? Did you make any progress on them?

cool idea for a layout. I've done something sort of similar in the past for the final page of our family albums - you know, back when I actually FINISHED a yearly album I included headlines from the year, prices on basics (milk, eggs, gas, stamps, average car/house), minimum wage, films/songs that came out....what I included varied a bit based on what I managed to dredge up information-wise. Sometimes I included highlights from our year but that's as personal as I got (mostly because I'm so far behind...who can remember those details from years back)- But I'm thinking about doing that page for the 2016 album on New Years Eve and making it more personal this year (even if the album isn't done)

Great idea LavenderLayoutLady! I've done a similar "currently" page, but with a time capsule theme I could see going with a box and a mini-album to incorporate all these great ideas. And will add that to my projects I want to do page.

This looks like a list of open statements/questions one of the posters on a former MB used to do periodically. It was fun filling it out on line. Never thought of scrapping it, but that would be a cool idea!
