scrapincin, I am so sorry your IBS is acting up. I hope you can get it under control. You don't need that on your trip!!! How's the afib doing? I hope that's going well too. I hope you will feel better and be able to get some scrappy packing and working done. Has your DSIL adjusted to the new job, or is it still difficult. My DGS just got a job at a Mercedes dealership. He's just the car driver from lot to lot, etc. He thinks that's pretty cool!(he's 19) grammadee, I love that photo of the heart potato. I used to pick potatoes every year to earn money to buy a winter coat. I started when I was 10. We found some interesting potatoes too. I'm glad the kids got to help you. Good luck on the packing for the cruise. I think that's great that you can pick your meals so you won't have upsets. LisaDV, I am sorry your DD is still suffering. I hope you can figure out all her triggers. I know you have put a lot of time and research into it. Hugs and prayers for you both. I laughed about the book crying. I'm that way too. Pretty tender-hearted. Your deer in the freezer sounds delicious. We were always so happy when my brother and dad both got deer.Lots of meat for winter. (lots of work for us...we always cut it up on the kitchen table. Big mess, but tasty meat!) Your layout is fabulous. It doesn't need embellishments, your background is the perfect amount. I'll leave you love in a few minutes. I'm hoping to get some scrappy time tomorrow. A neighbor just brought me a huge bag of grapes which I will make into jelly tomorrow. But afterwards, I hope to scrap! Took DH in for his eye procedures again today and he seemed to be better than last month. I think he had some hemorrhages last month that left his sight more diminished. He was happy with the appt. today. Sending hugs and waves to all the Pokeys. It's a busy week, but I'll check back in a couple of days. Have a great week.

grammadee , I LOVE the heart potato picture!! That will make a great page. nylene , Does "He was happy with the appt. today." mean that his sight is a bit better? Hope so. Usually if they get 1 deer, they're done with the processing and won't get another. Even if we have tags. Luckily, this was the youth hunt, which means ds is finished hunting, but Don was just a supervisor. He'll be ready come November 15th to hunt himself and hopefully get one. With only one, we always run out of deer burger before the next year. This year they want to try their hand at sausage making. Of course, that's said every year. But with dd not being able to have a lot of the junk they put into store processed ones, we might actually make some time this winter to do this. I hope you get some scrappy time. We need to start the jelly and applesauce making too. Don picked some apples yesterday morning and juiced them for breakfast. I thought it was the best. I'm not a huge apple juice or apple cider person. Once in oxidized a bit, it tasted more like apple cider, bleh. After school yesterday, we worked on scrubbing the liner of the pool clean to put it away. We were almost 1/2 way when the thunder started. So we did just a little bit in the basement. But between last night and this morning, I was able to finish a layout. It feels good to be creating again. KL_DarlingGirlw by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr

Hoping your dh's eyes continue to improve, nylene . Good luck with the jelly making. I remember helping harvest the garden as a child, but we were way back in the country, and no one (not even the adults) worked for pay. It was more of a barter system, or even more just sharing what we had more of with people who had less. And they shared with us. Remember wearing lots of hand me down clothes, but don't remember worrying about how to pay for items. Lovely page, LisaDV . I actually printed that heart potato pic and put it on a page yesterday. Will photograph when there is enough light and post it. I spent the afternoon at the LSS where I put together 6 pages and finished a couple (I had started those earlier) with the photos I printed in the morning. Then had supper with justjac and her hubby. Slowly getting ready for my trip. Did some shopping for last minute necessities yesterday. A couple of non essentials "fell into my cart" too. LOL. My hair is getting the full meal deal today. Can't go to another continent looking this scruffy! I took out my point & shoot camera and charged the battery over night. Haven't used it since last vacation 2 years ago, and I have to relearn how to use it. It needs a new camera card as well, which I remembered to pick up yesterday. How are you doing with your crop packing, scrapincin ? I picked up my CTMH order and a collection they had set aside for me at the LSS. Mostly Christmas card making supplies. I want to play with them, but won't let myself open any of it until I am home again. Hoping to have a small card making get together here at the house sometime in November. Okay. Off to get ready for my beautification. I think there are government grants for community beautification: wonder if I should apply for the personal variety???

grammadee,LOL! Love the joke about the beautification grant! Boy, do I need that! Have fun getting pretty today. I wore mostly hand-me-downs as a child, but by picking potatoes I earned 7 and a half cents a sack, which I had to split with my partner who picked with me.(for 100 lbs of potatoes) Mom would let me spend it on a coat each year. I could usually buy enough material to make myself a dress or skirt too. lisa, I love your page. Beautiful mix of papers. Good luck making deer sausage. I've never tried that, but I'm sure it would be good. I ended up with less grape juice than I thought I would have. I got only got 14 half pints of jelly. But it does taste delicious. So it was worth the heat in the kitchen. I'm taking a break before I clean up the kitchen. Be back later.

Good morning, Ladies! Too bad your yield of jelly was not as much as you had hoped, nylene . I was thinking we could do an exchange of preserves with you and LisaDV and all the other like minded crafty ladies: sort of a virtual pot luck! I am home today after my flurry of appointments yesterday. Unfortunately the haircut did not remove a significant amount of weight, as the dr told me I have GAINED 3 pounds since June. Couldn't be from the new potatoes and cream, or the desserts I have been baking or the cream soups I have been making with carrots and zucchini... Or the bread from the bread maker to eat with said soups... Oh well, I am not masochistic enough to diet and cruise at the same time, so will just have to plan to do lots of walking over the next month! I promised you a photo of the page I did with the heart potato photo and here it is: Garden elves by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I really love gnomes, and this SS "Bloom & Grow" line has quite a few of them. Thought I would rebrand them as elves after our conversations over the past few days LOL. Gotta get off my butt and start working with pumpkins this morning. For me, this is usually a 2 day process: peel, cut up and boil the first day, drain overnight, then bake the next day. Have a great Wednesday!

I think there are government grants for community beautification: wonder if I should apply for the personal variety??? love the title on your page and those little gnomes. Fantastic showcase for that adorable photo. 3 pounds is nothing I'm sure you'll lose it on the cruise with all the walking and activity. nylene, sorry that you didn't get as much as you thought, but 14 half pints is still a good number. Both of my kids ordered from amazon within the last week. DD's was first. 2 day shipping, but we ordered in the evening so she had a whole extra day wait time. It was killing her. Two days ago ds ordered. So yesterday they were talking about how it was terrible when I was a kid and I had to wait 2 weeks for mail. I told them, sometimes it was 6 to 8 weeks. Of course, they couldn't even fathom that and the stone-age jokes rolled in. Nothing like some snot-nosed brats (said in a teasing and loving way) to make you feel old. I should be working today, but instead, I'm here and in the craft room. I'm a bit under the weather today as is ds and dh (who is at the client location and has 2 mtgs and then a 2 hr drive home). I'm sure we'll all be better tomorrow, well except dd who has the weaker immune system. Bad mom that I am, gave the kids an extra hour of screen time. They get 2 hours normally. I'm off to clean up my desk so that I can use my silhouette and get a layout done. I have 2 ideas for this next layout that I'm actually excited about (normally I'm a lazy scrapper since I just don't have enough time, so to spend the time is a luxury in itself.)

grammadee and LisaDV, my DH came into my room to see what I was laughing about. Between the haircut not removing weight and the community beautification program, I was really laughing. He didn't seem to think it was as funny as I did! Dee, you must keep your family in stitches all the time. Love your sense of humor. LisaDV, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope you bounce back right away. Never think you are a bad mom...you are doing great! I worked in my scraproom last night until my computer was taken over. Our DSIL has just been made CEO of a company that protects and helps with any computer, ipad or phone issues. It was originally set up to help older people who have computer problems and don't have our Doug to help them out. They will be online 24 hours a day for anything that we need. Because we are related to the CEO we are on the friends and family plan and it's less than $10 a month and they back everything up in case of fire, computer crash, etc. It took quite a while for them to do the initial back up. I did get a page finished after they finished and will post it in a few minutes. I finally got my Cousin Camp photos printed. I am pretty slow! BBL

grammadee, hugs to you and prayers for your brother and family. nylene, beautiful layout. I'll leave love when I get my computer back. Don's playing on it. I need a computer guy. I'm the computer guy in my family, well until the kids surpass me, which won't be long. I totally know what you mean about grammadee sense of humor. I bet justjac cheeks hurt from laughing after they separate! Well,I still have some chores and school before errands this afternoon,so I'm off (way off if you ask my family). Forgive any typos and missed grammar, I'm on the iphone and it's itty bitty keyboard

Good evening ladies! Boy I had a lot of catching up to do! I think I am done over in the gallery but needed to get over here and write something. I really do not have anything ready to go other then my ticket. I have had computer problems and since I am the tech here I was trying to figure those out. Then I bought a new cell phone and was learning how to use it and get it together. It actually is like a miniature version of my tablet. I also have had visitors for a couple nights this week. So I will be getting things together over the weekend when I don't have anyone here.
Grammadee I agree with Lisa and Nylene- you are a HOOT!!!! I laugh when I read your posts! I am so sorry for your your brothers problems. Hope he is getting better. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
All three of you had some really n ice pages posted! I left you all some love over in the gallery. I sure hope I didn't miss any! I am going to get off of here for now!

Cindy, did you get an iphone? DH thinks I need a smartphone but I truly think I am not smart enough to use it. I don't even use my cell phone except in an emergency. It is usually in the bottom of my purse and out of power! In the last 2 months I only used 6 minutes! LOL! Good luck on learning the phone. You are so brave in the techno field, that I am sure you will have it mastered in no time. grammadee, I am sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. Sending thoughts and prayers for him and for your family. I hope things are getting better with him. Well, remember that neat computer system that my DSIL talked us into? Well......I've been without a computer since they started the installation! I have not been a happy camper. It ran so slowly the next morning that I gave up on using it. So after they worked on it all that day (remotely), yesterday morning it wouldn't work at all. Granted, it is a very old computer and I'm still using Vista, but it was discouraging. So, we called the other DSIL (Doug) who has always been our go-to computer whiz and he spent 3 hours here last night fixing it. I do have to say that the ethernet switch was bad, so that was one big problem. He is also looking for a new computer for me. He thinks it's time and that there is no way to update or speed it up. Of course that means learning a new program and system. Doug is always so happy to help us, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to call him as often. With the new computer I think it will be fine. Then I won't have to be mad at my other DSIL. I started my Christmas cards so I could decide on a style. I will be spending a couple of days in Wendover, Nevada/Utah the first week in Oct. I usually just sit in the hotel and make all my Christmas cards while DH attends Golf Course meetings. I think I have found what I want to do. AC Warehouse had a big box of Christmas paper, 25 sheets for $2. I bought 25 and some matching cardstock and should be set. How is the weather at your homes? Our high today will be 50 degrees, but it's supposed to be 90 on Thursday. It's raining here which is good. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy Friday! Hope you all are good today. This wasn't a great week but today is better. Plus, my dh caught a cold. I guess it is that time of the year for colds. I just hope not to catch it. Fingers crossed! LOL! Last Saturday, I did get to Hobby Lobby and boy did I have a great time. I was looking for Christmas embellishments and didn't quite find what I was looking for. But, I did end up with some beautiful floral pp on sale. Also, I did find some red paper and gem swirls for Christmas cards. That store is so massive I still haven't made it to the back of the store. Maybe next time. But we had a good time.
Anybody watching any new seasons series on tv? I like several shows but recently, I got into Fixer Upper, Master Treehouse and Tanked. These folks are sooo creative. I do watch sports and my dh and I enjoy The Middle and The Goldbergs. That mom on the Goldbergs is so out of control! She cracks me up. LOL!
LisaDV - Oh your sunray lo is adorable! I am going over to take a close look.
grammadee- Your trip is almost here! I know you must be excited and getting ready. And yes, I agree, you have such a wonderful and cheerful spirit!
nylene - How is tutoring going? I think I am ready to start my Christmas cards too. I was looking for a few more things but I do have enough to get started. Your trip with your dh does sound like a great time to play and relax. Our weather is still in the 80's and I heard today we are suppose to go up to the 90's this week! Mother nature still thinks it is Summer!!! LOL!
scrapincin - Oh boy, there are so many quarterback injuries going on. I think your Browns has one of our former USC QB's. Hope he does well. Also, girl you have been busy. Company, grandkids, computer issues, new phone and more. WOW! Your new phone does sound fun though. Always a little nerve-racking adjusting to a new phone but I hope you enjoy it.

You gals are so sweet! I am not sure I am that funny. Just can often see the world from more than one perspective, and the irony often makes me smile. Which is better than moaning--but you can ask justjac ; I can do my share of that, too! We are back home. My brother was in good spirits when we left this morning. His new pain meds seem to be doing wonders for now, and they don't seem to make him dozy. But he has terminal cancer, and the end is a lot closer than it was a few months ago. He has had a long fight, and now he seems focussed on settling his affairs: giving us each things he wants us to look after when he no longer can. I feel terrible about leaving on this trip right now, but he told me to go. My staying around will definitely not change the outcome or the timing, and he has a strong family unit to support him and each other through this. We had a good visit this morning: he was feeling more energetic and was relieved that I agreed to take on the family archives (the task he gave me). I have tons of things I have to get done around here, but I am giving myself this evening to relax and rest. I have been collecting clothes and toiletries and documents into piles. And have a ton of lists. The actual packing will happen tomorrow. The plan is to drive to pu dd after her workshop, and then head on into Edmonton for a dinner theatre Saturday night. Flight out is Sunday afternoon

nylene , computers are a pain, however, I can't live without mine. Don and kids are playing D&D with his brother and the cousins tonight. Guess who had to spend their afternoon getting a camera and skype all set up. Skype was not cooperating. And I still don't have the microphone that Don wanted to use installed. It will take me a whole day to figure out I'm sure since it didn't have those nice "push here dummy" buttons. scrapincin , have fun picking out your supplies over the weekend. kellyr21 , sorry you've had a rough week. I hope your weekend proves better. We don't have cable so all of our shows are from netflix, amazon, or hulu. We watch The Flash, the Arrow (dd & I call it Felicity after the lead lady which is why we watch), Girl Meets World and Boy Meets World (we're buying the seasons slowly). Do you see the trend (boy, boy, girl, girl). Although I'm excited, as I just found out that Netflix is doing a Gilmore Girls Revival releasing November 25. So I will be watching all 4 of the 90 minute episodes back to back. My favorite is Netflix's Sherlock. They do great justice to the original Doyle masterpiece and unlike other creators of Sherlock styled genre you can tell they've actually read the works. Unfortunately, I don't think anything is coming out until 2017. DS watches it with me and I think even dd is now into them as hubs just saw a few that ds was re-watching and had to watch all 3 seasons to catch up. grammadee, sorry about your brother. I hope that you have a great relaxing and fun trip. Hugs. I've been busy working on my latest layout. I'm stitching the title so I'll be doing that tonight and finishing off the layout. Tomorrow ,we were suppose to finish cleaning the pool out and putting it away, but the storm on Wednesday morning took care of that for us. Snapped the poles in 3 different spots at least. Instead of taking it down, we're going to either put up some grapes or some apples. I'll probably do some through the week as well. After the fruit is away, we'll worry about the pool. Probably just load it into the back of Don's truck and haul it away. But Don is gone all next week and the following, which means perfect time to get some of my crafting done.

Hi everyone! Boy I made it on here two days in a row! LOL I did get a smartphone but not an iPhone. My tablet is a Samsung GalaxyS-10.5 inches and I love it. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime and works just like my tablet so not much of a learning curve. I am loving it! I got my email from the Scrap Expo for next week. They have some of the items listed I will need to take with me. I will be working on that this weekend. nylene - You probably won't have much trouble moving to a new computer. They are actually easier then the Vista was. One with Windows 7 and even 10 are easier then you think. If you get an Apple it will work alot like your tablet. I think you have an iPad don't you? @kelly21- Yes your quarterback will be our starting Quarterback this week. Hos name is Kessler. Yes we lost 2 quarter backs in two weeks! We were winning the end of the 1st quarter and then they quit running the ball and poor McCown got slammed play after play. Then our new player Coleman broke his hand in practice. It just keeps on going and the team is collapsing! grammadee - How is your brother doing? Are you all packed and ready to go? I would be so nervous! Waving a big hi to Lisa, Justjac, and Jana!

Good Sunday morning. My last morning in Canada for a few weeks. Dh & I are at dd's and this afternoon they will drop me off at the airport. I have my suitcases in the vehicle. Packed more than I had planned (which is usual for me). Think I have all the essentials. Checked that I do indeed have my passport, my booking confirmations, and my euros. My ds who always loses things tells me "you can buy stuff anywhere".
I will have some internet access, and will check in here from time to time I hope. Have a great Sunday, and an awesome October!

Happy Monday! Can you guys believe it is over 100 degrees today? OMG! September normally has some hot days but this is unreal! So I am staying nice and cool and hope to get out this evening. Last night was cooler so hopefully tonight will be too. We had a restful weekend and my dh's cold is all gone. I started looking at all my Christmas paper and letting some ideas surface. I hope to play around with that today and this week. I am feeling some art today, too. I want to scrap but need to get some new pictures printed. grammadee - HAVE A SUPER TIME! LisaDV - You have lots of cool stuff to watch on the internet options. I know my dh would love to watch all those superhero shows too. I used to watch some things on Hulu when it was free. We don't have Netflix but I hope we can get it down the line. For now, cable tv gives me enough options. We are also big sport fans so we are in heaven now with all these sports going on. scrapincin - Your scrap expo sounds fun. Is it just one day or multiple? Next time our expo comes maybe I will take a class or do the crop too. I know you are excited and getting ready. Waving hi to everyone and have a nice evening!

Just a quick note to say HI! Went to a dermatologist today and had a small spot removed from the area close to my lip and nose that may have been melanoma. I have had that spot for a couple of years but ask about it while I was there and came home with 4 stitches in my face! Will know in a few days what it was. It just appeared one day, has never grown or anything so we shall see. I will have them checked right away if I ever get another one. I never thought about it being trouble. 😊 Packing up for the expo! I have most of it done now just pics and papers.
Grammadee hope you have a wonderful time!

grammadee, wishing you a fabulous trip with lots of fun and photos. Remember to see it all for us too! scrapincin, did you get your Samsung figured out? That's what Steve has and really likes it. I am still dragging my feet. Thanks for the encouragement on a new computer. Your encouragement is what made me make the decision on the Silhouette. I really appreciated your saying you thought I could figure it out. I am hoping you have a wonderful Scrap retreat at Expo. It sounds like lots of fun and I know you will come home full of mojo! kellyr21, I can't wait to see your Christmas cards and crafties. Mine are pretty plain this year, but I should get them all finished next week sitting in the hotel. I can't believe it was 100 at your house today. It got warm here, but not that warm. We have had to turn on the heat at night. Fall is so crazy here. If you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes! We had 2 tornadoes touch down in Utah over the weekend. That is so unheard of. I only know of one other in my lifetime. Crazy weather that did a lot of damage. None near us, however. We received some sad news today. Our nephew was killed in a small plane accident in Pennsylvania. Steve is having a hard time with it. It's his brother's oldest son. We don't have any particulars about it yet. I'm sure we will hear more later. Better quit and clean up my kitchen. Have a great week, everyone.

Oh Nylene so very sorry for the loss of your nephew. Keeping you and Steve in my prayers and will be thinking of you. Such a tragic end to that young man's life.
I have figured out my phone and I love it! I hate the price of it though! This time I got a no contract but got unlimited talk, text and data. But this way I can use what I want when I want. Normally for the amount I am paying you only get 2 G a month but mine starts at 5G. I will see how it goes-probably do not need it this way but I am trying it for few months. Well the scrap expo is 2 days away! I have most everything packed but still need to figure out which photos I am taking and paper. I will receive 3 packs when I get there that I get for buying the crop tickets and class. it is confusing! I told my friend I should just take my laptop and digi scrap! Then I would need to haul all of this stuff. Well getting off for now as the kids are coming in from school with their news for the day!

Hey everybody. I've been lurking a lot on my phone. grammadee I hope you are having a wonderful trip and I look forward to your pics! I haven't been too crafty lately. I really need to clean my scrap space. I did get my brother's birthday card done. I'm starting to work on learning my lines for the play. I have rehearsal tonight from 7-10. I have a lot of marking to do for school, but that will have to wait until after my TOPS meeting tomorrow night. I can't believe September is nearly over.

Happy Wednesday! We are still sweating out here but at least it has come down to the 90's! LOL! Thank God the evenings have been cool enough for a walk. Today more work on my art and cards. justjac- Although you aren't scrapping you are acting which sounds like it is very fun and creative. So cool!!! When will the play be? scrapincin- Hope you are feeling good today. Hang in there! Your crop sounds like fun but I am with ya. Packing all that stuff doesn't sound as fun. They should have crops where all you do is bring your pictures and go! I would like that! nylene- Sorry to hear about your loss. Wow! My prayers are with you all. Waving hi to everyone and have a nice evening!!!

nylene , I'm so very sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and Steve and Steve's family. Hugs. scrapincin , have a great time at your expo. I can't wait to see your Christmas cards, kellyr21 and nylene . Trying to get my calendar swap finished but didn't get anything done on it yesterday. Thought I'd share a page I finished Saturday though. OneStylinGirlw by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr My stitching broke through the small parts of the lettering on the y even with only 3 strands of floss and a smaller needle, but I said to heck with it I'm using it anyway. I do like the shaker page flag. And the blue flower in the photo bottom right cluster was one my dd made and put on my birthday gift in 2012. So I love that I could use it on a page about her. I wrote that on the back also. I still have my journaling to do but I still haven't decided if it's going on the back or on the front (on the pink pp layer at the bottom).

Thank you for the well wishes. We are still waiting to hear if there will be a memorial service out here. A memorial service is planned for Wed. in PA. His parents are in St. George, Utah, so I think there will be something there. scrapincin , I'm sending you mojo so you can get a lot done at the Expo. (or just have a lot of fun and come home with mojo!) I'm sure it will be great to get together with your scrapping pals. kellyr21 , I am sorry you guys are burning up down there. I hope the weather breaks for you soon. I am excited to see what you will do with your pretty Christmas papers and ribbon. justjac , wish I lived close enough to come see your play when it is presented. Hope you are enjoying the practicing. This is the 2-pager I finished last night. I have another I'm working on of Ashley with her violin. Our Kylie by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

Hey all! Happy Thursday! It is a little cooler today and I hope it continues to cool down. I have my guitar lesson tonight. So I have been practicing and I feel pretty ready. Also, tonight is a city music event called the "Rooftop Concert" on the top level of a local parking structure. They will feature Greek music along with food vendors, and art booths. I missed the last concert but glad to catch this one. Will let you know how it turns out. Until then, I will be working on my art and cards. Yeah, I can't wait to see how they turn out too! LOL! LisaDV- Oh that page is so pretty! I love those shakers and the stitching on the letters. Awesome! nylene - Look at you making a double! I am off to go take a better look. Waving hi to you all and have a nice evening!
