99% of the time I listen to my local public radio station that plays classical music. No ads to drive me nuts, just soothing music! I love classical music when I'm driving.
Every now and then I bring out some CDs and listen to those, but not very often. I need to use Pandora on my phone more, get with the 21st century!

To and from school I listen to my local radio station. I'll listen to my playlists if it's not time for my regular radio shows. Long trips I end up listening to whatever movie my daughter is watching.

For trips around town it's usually nothing, although I do put the traffic report on when it's time ("traffic and weather on the eights", lol -- i.e., 6:28, 6:38, etc.) just to be sure there's nothing happening on my route. Otherwise I like it quiet. For long trips, like when I drive 4 hours to Pittsburgh to see my parents, I like audiobooks. But not complicated ones that I have to concentrate on too much. I like listening to Harry Potter, or mysteries, or some kids'/YA stuff like Percy Jackson, etc. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Sometimes I bring along my own CDs because there is nothing on the radio at all between Breezewood and Pittsburgh, except country music and conservative talk shows. ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/pd7N3dneptLj3pbgz5Gd.jpg)

When I'm alone or with DH, it's on a local talk radio station (WTOP). If my kids are with me, either pop or rock music.

I realized I was officially "old" when I started listening to talk radio ![:P :P](http://i62.tinypic.com/2lu3meu.jpg) When there is something super-boring on the talk station, I listen to the light pop station ... and the one that plays a lot of 80's music ![ ](http://i57.tinypic.com/316rlw5.jpg)

On my drive back and forth from home to work I will listen to my CD's. I binge listen to music. I play one CD over and over, sometimes for weeks and then move on to the next one.
If I'm on a road trip and it's just me in the car, for instance when driving to see my brother who lives 6 hours away, I will listen to audiobooks.

If I'm alone in the car: Mostly Metallica, AC/DC and Judas Priest. if DD8 is in the car: her favorite music (over and over and over again). If DH is there, we usually agree on Jefferson Airplane, Clapton og Hendrix.

Radio, playlist (Spotify) and nothing. There are times when I want complete silence in the car. I just want to enjoy my thoughts, the sounds outside (esp in late fall-spring when I don't need the a/c on and the windows are down), or the conversations in the car.
Other times I am in a spunky mood and want to listen to some good music.
For me, Kiis 102.7 (todays hits), Jack FM (classic rock, 80'-90's), 104.3 (mix of 90's and today), and Kfrog 95.5 (country).
Or one of my spotify playlists

The reality is that I always have 2 young children with me, so we either listen to kid music or Christian music. Occasionally I will turn on Dave Ramsey, but it's hard to pay attention to the show over the backseat chatter.
On the rare occasions I'm by myself, it's loud music all the way! And I sing along at the top of my lungs!

Talk radio. If I'm about an hour from home, I can pick up a great Classic Rock station.

I listen to a Christian radio station. They play the best music all the time. No preaching, just music. Soothes my soul.

NPR unless DD's in the car and it's a dicey show - then CDs, mostly of Celtic/Celtic-influenced music.

Music, usually. Sometimes talk.

NPR is my first choice. If they are playing music though, I switch over to an oldies station. If my dd is in the car we listen to a more current station.

I listen to talk back radio mostly. Sometimes I get sick of the sound of talking so I put on a music station or a CD, and depending on my mood it will be rock or something gentler like folk rock. If the traffic is stressing me out or I've had a bad morning I put on folk rock to calm me down.
I can't have total silence in the car.

But I make sure I dose up with some rock at regular intervals just to keep me feeling young LOL!

If I am the only one in the car, music! I can change the station whenever the stupid ads come on. If the family is in the car, I prefer no radio or talk radio. The husband and kids tap, whistle, and it drives me crazy!

I listen to music on the radio (because my stupid cd player is broken) unless the weather is bad then I need silence.

I chose talk radio b/c NPR news programs or games are definitely my preference. They keep me more alert than music, which tends to cause me to zone out after a while.

I listen to audio books 98% of the time. I commute a total of 10 hours every week, and have gone through a LOT of books in the past 10 years. A long time ago Waldenbooks was going out of business so I ended up with a big pile of paperbacks. A couple of months ago I was sorting through my books and found many that I had actually listened to. When I'm not listening to audio books, I listen to music on my iPhone.
