I have a good one. DS read this in the 5th or 6th grade and loved it. I read it too and enjoyed. If your child is also into video games, he will LOVE it as it is about a video game. The book is called Space Demons by Australian author Gillian Rubinstein. It is the first in a trilogy that came out in 1985. When DS read it he needed a book that was a fantasy for a book report.

Thank you!!! I will be checking his out. I love to read.....my son not so much. Let's hope it holds the attention If he likes video games he will ![]() this book. The basic story is about a man who returns from a trip to China with a video game and his son decides to play it. He is basically sucked into the game and the book is about his trying to escape. It captivated both DS and me! ETA: DS read it about 20 years ago so this is what I remember.

Which he again loved! Funny you talking about books from years ago. My family was outside and the neighborhood boys (8th and 9th) were sitting with u. The one made a comment about "staying gold Ponyboy". My head whipped around and I said are you reading The Outsiders. They couldn't believe I remembered that book. Meanwhile, it is one of my all time favorite book/movies made!!

I was relating this to DH last week: My favorite book from 5th grade (58 years ago) was Flatboats and Wagon Wheels about people migrating west. I ![]() D that book. Can't find it at our library but it has stuck with me all these years. ETA: Just found this on Amazon: Written for children and published in 1948, this is the story of the family of an American Revolution veteran who leaves the security of their farm in Pennsylvania to carve a new home for themselves in the wilderness that would become Cincinnati, Ohio. It is schoolboy American history at its 1940's best, full of covered wagons, boats on the Ohio, brothers and sisters and cousins who get along with each other, dads who are strong, moms who manage to keep the home fires burning along the trail, and hair-raising battles with Native Americans. There's even time for a brief glimpse of General Washington as he rides to New York to assume his duties as President. Is it sanitized? Yep. Is it accurate? Somewhat. Is it capable of transporting a middle-aged man to the golden haze of 1967? Definitely.
