I did posts daily last year about things I'm thankful for in November...just rambling on FB, though. I kind of like the idea of one year (not this year, most likely...maybe when we're in a better routine) turning the idea into a DD type project mixed with 30 days of lists. Come up with a list of things I'm thankful for in advance and try to take a picture of one thing from the list each day in November (with the idea of making the list longer than 30 items so I am more likely to not be stuck with hard to photograph things at the end of the month when it might not be as easy to stick to finishing the project...much like my 2015 DD, lol).
Has anyone done a project for 30 days of thankful? Without pictures would probably be easier, in something like a traveler's notebook, but I really love photos and would like to put a dent in all of the fall stuff I keep buying (it's becoming worse than my Christmas supply habit, haha). I don't think it would change a ton year to year, but maybe it would be a fun project every 2-4 years when there is more recognizable change in our day to day.
Sorry if this is hard to follow. I'm thinking out loud a bit, here.

I have done a project like this. I made a list of photos I wanted to take in advance. I used a 6x6 album and paper pad. One side had a photo and the other side a small bit of writing why I was thankful for this person or thing. I keep the embellishment very simple with some stamping. If the paper is too busy to writ on, I use a tag or label. For me the key to getting DD or my 30 days album done is keeping my products simple.

I did a mini album with my kids when they were younger where we documented for 30 days what we were thankful for.
I used a sets of overlays Ali had in her shop, with the days on them for November. Then each day my boys would draw or write a sentence about what they were thankful for.
The boys were in like 3rd and 6th grade, so its been awhile but I still drag the book out every november to look through.

I say I'll do something like this every year, and every year I either forget or have other things taking over my time. It's the same for WITL for me. Someday. I did start a thankful journal once and after 5 or 6 pages, it sat unused... There was lots more I was thankful for, just never got around to documenting.

Yep, it the catalyst that got me scrapping again in 2014, after a long hiatus. I wrote down some preliminary ideas, and kinda let things happen, did it through November. Made a page with a photo in an 8x8 Hobby Lobby album for each day. Some were big things, some were small, all worth thinking about. Fall stuff is my favorite and I loved using it in an album.
I have preordered Cathy Zielskie's new 30 Days stamps in the hopes that I can do another one this year. Will probably use a Simple Stories 6x8 ring binder in yellow this year.
Jump in, use your stash, or use it as an excuse to buy more! You should be able to find some Pinterest or YouTube 30 Days stuff to give you ideas. Have fun and enjoy the process.

I have done 2 "30 days of thankful " albums. I absolutely love this project! Almost as much as I love December Daily! What I'm thankful for doesn't change a whole lot year to year so I have done them every 3 or so years. I take a photo every day since I love taking photos. I also journal just a sentence or two about each. I did use up a lot of my fall embellishments, which I also love!! The only bad part is that it falls right before December so if you do a DD also, it can get overwhelming. I definitely think you should try it! I know you would love it!!

Sounds like a great project. I don't think I could do it, and especially not this year. I will be gone most of October (when, as a Canadian, would be the best time for me to attempt this) and when I get back I will be hard pressed to catch up on everything at home and get ready for Christmas.
I can see a couple of ways to approach this. One would be to just start with a gratitude journal without worrying about the photos. If you find a photo, great! If not, just fill the page up with scrappy goodies and the journaling.
Another way would be to just use your phone to snap a random photo each day, and then journal about what in that photo makes you thankful. I believe that you see what you are looking for, so if you are in a mindset to express gratitude, you will see things that way. So if I am tripping over shoes in my entryway I am reminded to feel thankful that my grandkids want to come to visit me and feel at home here...
We could easily do a daily thread on this board, where each day in November we share one thing we are thankful for, just like some of the FB activities. Don't think I could do more than that this year. And I don't know if that would be helpful?

I did a thankful album last year. Used one of the smaller Project Life albums. I gave three PL cards to each family member and asked them to write what they were thankful for. Took pictures during the month of November (of them and what they were thankful for) and then put pics/cards together in the album. It turned out really well and I think the kids will be amused in the future when they look back on these memories.

One year I did a 30 days of thankful project in my PL album. I did them on 3x4 cards in the style of the Collect app (like a polaroid with a caption, I guess) with a colored sticker number for each day and tried to focus on taking a photo of something that made me happy or thankful each day. The photos didn't always scream thankful, but I used the captions to focus on that idea each day. It was a bit of a change of pace from regular PL, which I may have done as well in an abbreviated form, and got me in the groove for DD.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I really love it. I think this is a more doable project for me than DD. I tend to scrap the crap out of Fall (usually a few from the current year and almost everything I wanted to focus on from the prior year) and it's when I get the bulk of my scrapping done. This ends up resulting in major burnout come Christmas and I hardly touch those photos...by the time I'm ready to jump back in after the holidays have wrapped up and life returns to normal, I don't want to scrap Christmas because it's no longer relevant...if that makes any sense. I know I likely won't do anything for DD this year, but I'm rethinking whether or not to try this project this year. My Mom will be here for half of November (and she was here for Christmas last year, too) and it will be our first Thanksgiving together. Before Christmas 2013, I don't think I ever spent Christmas with her and hadn't seen her around holidays in almost 2 decades...her being here for my younger son's first Christmas and then last year for my daughter's first was truly special (so I'm glad I am working on my DD for last year even if it's not done). Having her here this year in November would be nice to include in a special project because it wouldn't be something easy to capture if she weren't here. We're also planning a weekend away IF we can get my MIL out here (she'll be here for work related things the week before, so we just have to hope her other employer will allow her an extra couple of days off) so I can also record her being here if it all works out.
I think the hardest part for me will be coming up with a list and preparing ahead of time...but since I enjoy scrapping anything fall so much, I might actually be able to get a head start and enjoy the process (Christmas is so forced for me). I love the idea of a 6x6 album...I'll have to look into it!! One pocket style versus variety like the 6x8 option would also make it more manageable.

I've struggled with this project in the past because I don't like the lists I've come up with. Maybe I'll try again this year by using your method of coming up with ideas in advance so I can focus on the scrapping come November. It sounds much more manageable that way!

Maybe I'll try again this year by using your method of coming up with ideas in advance so I can focus on the scrapping come November. It sounds much more manageable that way! If you can't come up with lists that you like, maybe you can look around for inspiration? Many people take this on without a creative project involved, lister's gotta list is a huge thing for some people, so that might be a decent resource. This idea of focusing on being thankful for your life and the things, people, etc in it has been growing over the past few years to the point where I'm sure you could find things to steer you into a direction that you like. I know that my list won't be all from my own head, but I also think that I'll come up with some ideas for myself with the inspiration of others to help me hone in on things that I might not have thought about otherwise. I'm a big picture person, in general...I tend to not see the little things as they are happening and only think of them when discussing the past fondly with my husband or other family, so to me, this project would also be helpful in getting me to look at things that I might not have seen otherwise...to slow down and smell the roses, sotospeak. Good luck, whatever you decide to do!

I took a look at my old pages in PL this morning and they were pretty much as I described. Polaroid style, short caption, with a sticker number.
I didn't make a list or have any kind of focus for what I would be thankful for. One day I took a picture of ironing and was thankful that modern irons are lightweight and work well and cheap to buy and that I have a *choice* about whether to iron or not (I could send laundry out or make hubby do it). Another day I was thankful for the people who make Once Upon a Time and I grabbed a screenshot from an episode. I was thankful for some sun that appeared in the middle of our Nov gloom. And for specific friends and family members and all that kind of stuff. I'm pretty good at twisting rough stuff into thankful stuff - even if it's just "I'm thankful that this crappy thing that happened didn't last all day!"
I take a LOT of pictures each day so I usually find some picture that I've taken that I can twist into a thankful thing, but I also use screenshots and google images - on Election Day I snagged a photo of someone's "I voted" sticker, but our state is all vote by mail and so there are no stickers or polling places to take photos at. I really wanted to be thankful for democracy though, so a google image did the trick! When I saw the picture today I didn't even remember that I never had a sticker and that wasn't my denim jacket.

I found a 6x6 album on ebay and some page protectors from another seller. Supplies for the album itself shouldn't cost me more than $26 and I have tons of stash to use. I'm thinking that I might pre-plan pages next month and do something simple like a 6x6 page pulled from one of my many paper pads with a not quite 4x6 photo mat there and a little embellishing that I can add to in November as I print photos. I could probably include 1-3 pictures per day...use the left for just a photo that is a bit more of an overview in 3x5 or so and embellishing and then the right for a smaller photo/s closer up in smaller scale focused more on the story I want to tell and a place for journaling around it. I love the idea of 6x6 since I can literally just pull a paper out, cut off the retail strip if there is one and pop it into a page protector and then using cardstock on top of it (I just got a paper pad from M's that is embossed patterns in fall colors that would be perfect, but I also have an AC Autumn color pack of cardstock, too). I might go with it...but I do need to plan AHEAD instead of doing everything trailing or I know me, it won't get done, especially with family in town. I'm so glad I posted this...it's really getting the ideas going and turning this into a project I want to do this year!

Thanks for this thread.
I just may use the back half of my November CD Daisy Dori notebook for it. A 2x2 photo will fit along with a few words. Now I need to work on a list/ideas.

Scrapbooksteals.com has the 6x6 albums up for sale today. The price was so good (and I had $13.50 in points to apply) that I nabbed 3 albums and 7 sets of page protectors so I can do three albums. These were so hard to find. I would have paid what 2 albums and 6 PP cost for half that on ebay (the only places I could even find these things).
I'm sure the warehouse sale has them, but I haven't been able to go and this will guarantee that I can get started on it. I want to work on it throughout October and get as much prepped as I can so that I am more likely to finish it. Since I have a uniform plan in mind (unlike DD where I needed the pictures to configure my pages), I am hoping that this helps me manage to keep on task and get it done. Made my day!!!

What I'm thankful for doesn't change a whole lot year to year so I have done them every 3 or so years. Same here. That's also why I don't do December Daily. I have an ongoing Christmas album and try to at least get 1 photo of my kids on Christmas Eve and one of opening presents in the morning. I'm lucky if I remember other things. I can see a couple of ways to approach this. One would be to just start with a gratitude journal without worrying about the photos. If you find a photo, great! If not, just fill the page up with scrappy goodies and the journaling. I like this idea!
