Have you seen this stunning photo that is being circulated? http://instagr.am/p/BJ3fNi0BNqH The photographer just happened to capture this shot while vacationing in Yosemite. I saw the photo last night and it looks like the couple's photographers have been found and the normal haters have added their opinions in the comments. I don't think that he was trying to upstage their photographer (who probably got equally stunning photos from a different angle), but just wanted to find them to give them what is truly an amazing picture. BTW he has a a beautiful Instagram account I'm now following. UPDATE Mike Karas posted a second image along with a nice update. The couple has been found, appropriate credit was given to the photographer who staged the photo for the bride and groom and everybody seems happy. http://instagr.am/p/BKEYvlqh2iF Save

Who stands that close to the edge? According to one of the comments, it's a popular spot for pictures.

I'm getting nervous just looking at the picture. It's beautiful, but they are way too close to the edge.

But how did she get up there in her wedding dress?
I was there a couple of months ago and everyone wore shorts/backpacks, etc.
I went on the "kindergarten" trails which at times were scary--ledges with just a handrail between me and 2000 feet below.
I don't know how she got to the top of this high place without tripping over her dress.

Although beautiful, it somehow feels fake to me. Like others have said, who would climb out there in a wedding gown? She is one stumble from being one of those statistics. <shudder>

I don't know how she got to the top of this high place without tripping over her dress. I read this in an article: Copenhaver added that the ceremony was performed in Yosemite Valley before the bride and groom hiked up to Taft Point to snap some candid shots. And yes, the bride sported her white dress during the ascent, a trek that Copenhaver noted is actually "relatively easy." Sorry but given how far down Yosemite Valley is, that hike could not have been relatively easy.

I know it's nothing compared to Yosemite but my brother got married in the Flint Hills here in Ks and he and his bride (decked out in her dress, veil and flats) hiked to the top of one of the hills and got the most magnificent pictures. They are beautiful with the sun setting on the top of these hills. I hiked the same hill the day before in a casual dress and flats and I was worn out!
I also gasped when I saw the OP! What a gorgeous pic!

Who stands that close to the edge? My daughter. She stood further out then that bride and groom - she was on the rock that sticks out further. Her boyfriend must have been in the same spot as the photographer when he took her picture there. She is my daredevil! That is a neat picture!

I don't like looking at that picture because I'm afraid that when they turn to leave, the groom will accidentally step on her dress and the bride will stumble and the groom will try to catch her before she falls and they will both fall off the cliff.

I'm getting nervous just looking at the picture. It's beautiful, but they are way too close to the edge. Me too! I never understood how people are willing to put themselves in harm's way just to get a photo. And yes, it's an amazing photo.

If I'm not mistaken, this was taken at Taft Point. You can drive up Glacier Point Road to the trailhead and then the hike is about a mile. When it is said that they 'hiked there' I presume that is what is meant - not that they hiked from the valley floor.
Stunning shot, no matter how it was obtained.

That is an gorgeous wedding photo. If it isn't illegal to take it there, and it doesn't hurt the wildlife, or the park then I say "Go for it!". If it is what the couple wants and their wedding photographer can accommodate them, then why not? I would hope every step was taken for their safety. Including having an assistant on hand who kept watch how close they were to the edge and was there to help the bride with the dress. I'm sure the photographer helped the bride keep her footing when setting up the pose and coming back from the edge. At least, that's how I would have done it and I was a wedding photographer in the past.
I think it is a beautiful shot. So I am correct in reading that this wasn't the wedding photographer's shot, but a vacationer at Yosemite who happened to catch this moment at a different angle and took this shot? If so he got a beautiful photo. I'm glad he wanted to find the original photographer so he could give the couple this amazing photo. That is very generous of him and I think unusual these days in our society. Usually I find it's more common to read about someone who wants to take all of the credit for a shot he had nothing to do with setting up.

Holy cats, what a picture! I get the impression that the guy that took the picture would have taken the picture regardless of who was in it, as anybody in it would look amazing in that irresistible back ground.

You park at Glacier Point parking lot and then hike to it. If you google Taft Point, you can see where they came from. This picture is jaw dropping and should be...it's one of the most dangerous places in Yosemite. I have made the hike but never gotten out on the edge. There is one point by there that has a SMALL fence but still...too high up for me.
