I have a Lori Grenier bag from QVC which I like. It looks like it's been redesigned: Grenier bagEmilynoel on Youtube also likes the Sonia kashuk bag at Target (comes in different patterns): Kashuk bag

Glamboxes They are perfect - they are clear acrylic drawers where you can see everything plus you can use for Your brushes or jewelry. They stack great too. Best solution I have found.

A good quality train case. If she has a lot of makeup get her one on wheels. They can really hold up to moving without damage so it would be good for her since she will be leaving home.

I'll be following this thread because I'm looking for new ideas for makeup storage as well.
I was |thisclose| to ordering that Grenier bag because it looks *awesome*! Except it would not fit the eyeshadow palettes I use (mostly Nakeds by UD and a larger MAC one with 15 colors in it). So maybe keep in mind what makeup she uses and the size/shape?

I should add that when I went to college a million years ago, I used a tackle box. Not a Caboodle, but an actual tackle box from the sporting goods section - it was about half the cost of a Caboodle and did the same thing. LOL

My DD used a three drawer container thingie. It was small enough to fit on the vanity of the dorm rooms. It may have been one of the Sterilite containers.

The make up bag would be a pain to have to zip/unzip each time you wanted to get something. Mine prefers the clear acrylic organizers like the Sodynee linked above. She also has a Sterilite tower that she keeps under her desk with less used make up items.

Does she need somewhere to simply "contain it" or something that will hold it but also have mirror for her to apply it too (when she is in dorm?)

My dds all use bags similar to the QVC one. I don't know what brands-sorry. The bag storage is more practical for them because they can pick it up and move it from room to room and take it with them easily. Most of the time they leave it unzipped on their bathroom vanity or in a drawer. My older dds have had the acrylic type storage, but it didn't get used. They ended up as clutter that was sold at garage sales.

I have a friend who uses a Zuca bag for makeup storage. It is convenient for travel, too. While I wouldn't go this route myself, it might be a good option for a teen going off to college and beginning a more "mobile" time of life.

I got our dd a wheeled Iris cart. She has everything in there + !
It works well. She does have a smaller tote for portability!

Why don't you think it will fit the Naked Palettes? It says it is 12" long and the palettes are about 7-8" long. I really like how the bottom storage area has a mesh area that zips over the top--stuff would stay more contained. I wonder if you can fold back one of the flaps in the bottom area to fit them in there? DD goes off to college next year and this looks like a great option, but if it doesn't fit the Naked palettes, it won't work.

My assumption is the 12" long is the bottom compartment that has all the dividers in it. Some of the dividers are further divided and those come out but it didn't show in the video that the main dividers that make up the # pattern were removable. Maybe marzbar71 could shed some light on this? SaveSave

I'm not a huge fan of Mary Kay makeup but I love their makeup bag. It's the one that has the 4 plastic zip cases velcroed into a cube. You can take one out or take the whole thing. It also has a hang up hook. I can grab it when we go to the beach for an extended trip and everything is there. it holds a ton of stuff.

My bag isn't quite like the one now - they've redesigned. But I wonder if the Naked type palette would fit in one of the mesh zipper pockets on the other side?

I was thinking they may fit in the pockets as well. And hoping that if they fit in the bottom area with the grid reconfigured, you could fit multiple palettes down there. I may take the risk and order one. I'll do some looking around online tonight. Has anyone ever ordered from QVC? How are they with returns?

I guess it depends on how much makeup she has and whether she wants something to live in her dorm room or to have portability as well. My daughter has a good quality make-up bag for travel but at home has something like this that she keeps her most used things in. She used to have drawers and a couple of other set-ups but this is her favourite by far. www.kmart.com.au/product/laundry-basket-tin---pale-blue/949809
