I managed to pare down my stash by at least 500 sheets of paper tonight. There were some stickers and embellishments that were discarded as well to be donated to my son's old school. BFF amblet is adopting about 200 odd sheets, though. She loved the stuff and had reason to need it. I feel so much lighter inside! It's so liberating! I have mostly cardstock and only paper and page kits I love left. I may have a *lot* of altered art supplies. Those I plan to keep!

Purging is the best! It is like starting all over again and learning new things. I am doing a redo of my room getting rid of things I have outgrown and bringing in the new. Sadly, I think I could never pare down to 500 sheets of paper. That is my big downfall.

The purge is fun and going home with "vintage" papers a plus sassafras, scenic route and chatterbox will always be my favs. Plus I've done 40 pages in the last month I need to replace stash.

No I pared down 500 sheets. There are still thousands left. Trust me. There are still tons and tons left. I also have a lot of flowers. Right, amblet? I would say there are 300+ sets maybe more. I counted once and there were 300 and I have bought since. Sigh. We all have vices.

There's something so inspiring in looking through a stash that is filled with things you love and getting rid of 500 sheets of paper is a massive effort.

The stack of paper is about 3' high that I am getting rid of. That's a lot of paper. There are also oodles and oodles of embellishments and "stuff" to donate as well. I think we are good for getting rid of stuff now. Just have to find a home for the keep stuff. That is the challenge. I have the room to keep stuff. I just need to put it in vertical paper holders and put it all away.

I have to keep it small to fit into my living space. But every purge is a pleasure! I only keep the very best and will-definitely-use items (and I try to sort through new purchases and kits as soon as I can after it enters the apartment). Considering it needs to fit into a few small containers, I only have about 50 sheets of pattern and specialty paper, 20-ish sheets of cardstock, under 100 PL cards, a shoebox full of stamp sets (and a few more ), a shoebox of ephemera/die-cuts/wood veneer/labels/stickers/chipboard pieces, 5 smaller-sized pattern paper pads, less than 15 ink pads. It may be difficult to believe, but I have fun with this limited selection and I haven't had to catch up more than a couple of months in my PL since I started a few years ago. It's the scrapbook equivalent of the minimalist wardrobe and that's ok with me. Don't be afraid to get rid of things, scrappy people! It's fine to not keep everything you paid for. Even if you have the physical space for it, it doesn't mean you have the mental space to remember everything you own.

I am having some second thoughts about some Wild Asparagus paper. I loved the texture of it, but am I really going to use all of it? Maybe? I kept some as I did love it a lot, but some of it had to go. I had other paper that I liked but knew I wouldn't use so it went. I had some Basic Grey that BFF got because how much holiday BG do I need, really? Some? Tons? I got whole collection packs of it.
Do you want a photo of the scraproom? It is full of stuff. The keep pile and the donate piles and totes are very overwhelming. I don't know how to get them up the stairs. Maybe DS will have to take them to the school as they weigh a LOT.

I now have 3 filled Cropper Hopper holders of page kits that I plan to make up. They are very nice and I love them so they will get used up very soon.I think I have enough kits to fill up another 3 or 4 more though. That doesn't make me that happy. There is still lots of "other good paper" I kept that I love. Where is it going to go I am not sure. I have tons of cupboard space now which is good. I have TONS of cupboard space. I just need somewhere to put the other paper. I am thinking out loud sorry if I am annoying you. I need a sounding board and I don't have a lot of time left with BFF to help me organize. I think we are pretty good for getting rid of stuff. I now have to focus on what to keep. I hope there is still more I can get rid of. I saw some chipboard albums and some other weird stuff I don't know where it came from. I think that can all go.
It's fun and all looking at the stuff I love, but there is just so much of it. That's the hard part. It's hard parting with it, too unless it's old Scenic Route, Sassafras or Arctic Frog. Yeah, not great eh? All that is going.

I was making mental notes in my head what to do with certain things. I have this Prima ribbon that I love. I mean I really love it. I can't get rid of it. I am getting rid of tons and tons of ribbon but I have to keep it.
I have some of these quick quote booklet things. I think I have to keep them, too. I really like them. While I would like to get rid of everything sometimes, I know that's hasty and not a good decision. Now that I had a few days to think about it I need to hold onto some stuff longer than I had anticipated.

How did you do that? I started PL and decide to part with paper, at the last minute I couldn't part with it. I'm weak, I love my stuff too much to let go.

I am going to have to keep the prima ribbon. Not everything can or has to go. It just can't.

Keep the ribbon it is pretty and it can be used just like washi tape. I am amazed at the stack we have to donate.

Keep the ribbon it is pretty and it can be used just like washi tape. I am amazed at the stack we have to donate. The stack to donate keeps growing, too as we aren't done yet either. There's at least 500 sheets of paper, pounds of ribbon, stamps I will never use. Just so much stuff. We didn't get into the lower closet to get rid of the old MM stuff and the Heidi Swapp stuff from Advantus. I can't wait to get rid of all of that!

See all that sb hoard has brought you joy many times:
1. when you bought it 2. when you either used some of it or put it away for "later" 3. now when you are giving it away!
There are no wrong decisions. Keep what you love, even if you didn't realize you loved it until it ended up on the discard pile. Or give it away, knowing you have other lovely things to store in its place.
I hate the process of reorganizing, and once i start I can't wait to get the space cleared out again. Later, i have problems remembering what I kept and what I gave away, and if I kept something where I put it...
Good luck with the rest of your purging journey.

I am just hoping I will see a real difference once I am free from all the stuff I have donated. The flowers are staying, though! I will not get rid of my Primas. Paper is easy to get rid of. I gave about 100 sheets to BFF because she loved it. I didn't love it and was happy to have it gone. The school will get hundreds. The stickers and ribbon and embellishments I will be happy to be rid of as well.
I did 10 pages at my crop yesterday so that is a fair amount to get done in a day. I was pleased.

These are page kits I bought and the ideas are already available and ready to use. I just have to find the photos, figure out how to use the paper on my layout and glue away. I didn't have to "choose" my papers and embellishments I just had to find the photos. I can only take 5% of the credit here. The layouts are great, though. I am very pleased with them!

We didn't get a whole lot accomplished today as there are so many totes of stuff that need to get dropped off at the school first before I can do more organizing and discarding. One would *think* why don't you just take the stuff to the garage and store it there. Well there is a 20 year old's new car in the garage and it is so tightly in the garage he had to turn the fridge to make it fit. So all the scrap stuff is down stairs waiting to be moved to a more suitable space.
I had some good news in my personal life that I am not at liberty to share here but it has taken the anxiety down from organizing down in the basement. I mean things suddenly got a LOT better after I was really in distress this afternoon. I think I can go and organize again tonight God willing. I will feel so much better when my stash is cut right down. I can actually use what I have instead of just hoarding it.
I did find the Prima ribbon and kept it. That took all of 5 minutes. So much better now!
Now to throw more stuff out. I am excited and energized to keep working some more! yay!

Awesome!! I love it when I use up my page kits!!! I had a page kit that was supposed to be a graduation kit, but I needed it for Italy photos so I used it for that. I still have lots of the embellishments left over so I will be able to make a couple of grad layouts out of it I hope. I found my son's high school grad and middle school grad photos that I hadn't printed yet. It will work out. I just have to find the right paper for it. The paper is a really non-descript beige paper with a lot of black. It was perfect for Italy, too. I just need to find some more of this kind of paper. I know there is some in the discard pile. Do I want to go through it to try to find it. That is the problem.

It is boring beige brown paper and the embellishments (a huge sticker sheet) goes with it. I might just take the sticker sheet to Michaels and get some fresh paper. So it will cost me a dollar or two. At least I will have it right and I won't have to go through piles of paper and I mean hundreds of sheets not just a few. I mean a ton and a half. I can do that today. I will go check Michaels this afternoon as I have to be in the area anyway.

Purging feels good and giving stuff to your local school is great! I've taken a lot into my class in the past and they love making things from my papers, stickers, alphas etc!
