Tracie, let me blow some smoke up your skirt. I value your opinion because you're pretty up on the Scrapping World. I'm pretty happy with the merger and I think it's a good thing but I haven't been a part of this "world" for that long ( I was a CM consultant for several years and never got into the really crafty part of scrapping until 2008). What do you think is going to happen?
Also, so, any ideas about the Becky Higgins/Heidi Swapp collaboration ? I'm not much of a fan of their products although they seem like nice people, are successful and I'm grateful Higgins brought us Project Life.
so...what say you Miss Tracie?

Well.....first I have to say YOU SCOOPED ME! I have not been online in a couple of days...trying to unplug more so I was astonished to see you say that and then I ran to check it out. Wow!
I really hate to say my true thoughts about this because I don't want to offend either Stacy Julian or April Foster but my gut reaction to it is that it's not good for our industry.
I met April way back in the day in Nashville. My best friend is from the same town as April. I think April's husband may have been a student of Tiffany's (she's a teacher, obviously). Something like that. I always love Studio Calico and their products and design team although I don't subscribe but I have heard some feedback that concerns me.
On the other hand, I cannot think of a more delightful or upstanding human being than Stacy Julian and the BPC team. That is a bizarre partnership in my opinion. Was BPC not doing well? Is there just too much online that's free? I would love to hear more about this from someone else. I'm sure Paperclipping will talk about it because that's what they do - discuss these types of changes.
Now for your other question - I'm GIDDY about Heidi's new PL set! I shared it today online and I am just giddy to see it in person. I love, love, love anything Heidi does.
Should be interesting to see where BPC/SC goes from here and how they work together. I just see as more shrinkage though. Consolidation and shrinkage makes me worry.

I tried to find you yesterday when I was dropping a kid off at camp and wanted to check you out . I ended up listening to Elise Blaha Cripes and it was a good one but I've been wanting to check yours out. ETA-never mind! Of course I find yours in the middle of the night

I think a lot of us respect yout opinion, Tracie.
On this point I totally agree. I'm not a SC fan at all, I think that their business practices (which I've been burned by) suck. I stopped following both Ali Edwards and Becky Higgins when they hitched their wagons to SC, and I can see myself losing a little respect for Stacy Julian too. IMO, attaching your name to a company when you know they've had serious issues is bad news.

I got an email yesterday from BPC about the merger and I was surprised. My first thought was, "really? Studio Calico already has so many problems with their montly subscription orders, how can they take this on and do it well too?"

I'm trying to figure out how it would help BPC to be connected to Studio Calico - maybe just the exposure because they are so well known? Maybe connecting to their designers to teach? It will be interesting to see the outcome. I really want to hear Stacy talk about this. She is my hero and has been for so long.

Everything I have seen seems to stress that BPC will have the ability to use SC for kits to go with their classes. Stacy is the guest on Paperclipping Roundtable today. I haven't listened to it yet.

Oh thanks for the heads up! Surely she'll mention it. I am like 10 behind on their podcasts - too busy doing my own! LOL

Add into all that, Ali Edwards' blog is going on hiatus for a week waiting for her new reveal.....I have a feeling she is partnering up with BPC and SC as well? Either that, or AC is buying the rights to her stamp and/or digital products? All of it under AC, all of it under one umbrella?
ITA with you, Tracie, that it is consolidation and it is scary. I love all these products and all of these designers, and it is completely beyond any of our control, but part of me is holding my breath!
