I was reading through the February issue of Create magazine, and the article mentioned using rock candy crackle paint over a punched out heart, to create your own embellishments. I googled it, and found out that it's a distress paint made by Tim Holtz. I saw that this is something you can get at scrapbook.com, but does anyone know if they sell it at Michael's? I love the effect shown here: issuu.com/sgcreate/docs/create_-_issue_1_-_february_2014?e=10435885/6678684. Has anyone used this paint before? Does it work well with patterned papers and cardstock?

I am a great fan of this stuff. Unfortunately I am not in the USA so I cannot help with your query re Michael's. It gives a great effect on PP, C/S and so on and there are specific techniques to really show it off. Do you own any of Tim's books? Some great techniques in there using crackle paint or perhaps search his blog. If you have other, specific questions which are not covered in the thread (still a new thread, sure you will get plenty more) feel free to msg me. Good luck!

Hi. Our local Michaels's carries some of the Distress line; I don't know about this particular one. You could call ahead to see, but sometimes the clerks don't really know which product you're asking about. I think I got mine at HobbyLobby if you have one in your area. You've reminded me that I need to use it! Good luck finding it. Maria

I haven't seen it in store at Michael's, but have seen it at Hobby Lobby and Joann's also carries it online and in some stores.

I looked for it once at my Michael's and couldn't find it - hopefully you'll find a good online source!

And I forgot to mention that with our Bank It program, you can earn free shipping. People love this program!
Here's a quick summary: Bank It with SG! - Need to place an order, but don't have enough to qualify for free shipping? Bank It with SG is a way to earn free (or discounted) shipping.
US customers - we can now combine several small orders until you reach the $75 mark and qualify for free shipping! All you need to do is enter the coupon code BANKIT when checking out, and your order will be processed with no shipping charge. We will fill and hold the order until you have placed enough orders to reach the $75 free shipping threshold.
International customers - we can now combine several orders and ship them for one shipping fee. Place your initial order and enter the word "HOLD" in the comments section of the checkout (you will be charged shipping on this first order). For future orders, enter BANKIT when checking out to remove shipping charges from your order. When you are ready for your orders to ship, email stacey@scrapbookgeneration.com to get your package on its way!

I bought mine at Michaels but it was probably 2 years ago or more? It was buy the distress inks and stickles in my store.

I thought you only sold kits online. I'll be heading over there to get my crackle paint today! And really, I truly cannot say enough good things about Create. I have RA, and the pain has been awful lately, but reading through all the back issues of your magazine on my iPad has really kept me creatively motivated.

But after seeing the article, and hearing about the Stickles that you cam heat, I'm off to do some research. :-)

You are welcome, and we really appreciate your business! We started our expanded online store in January...our goal is to run with the big dogs! CREATE has been a really good thing for us, and hopefully for the industry. I know that people thought we were crazy when we said we were going to do a magazine, and we probably are! But I love doing it. Back to your original question, the rock candy crackle paint is one of my favorite products. If you're like me and have a ton of raw chipboard, one of the easiest and prettiest things to do with it is to ink it (which is quick) and then give it a heavy coat of the rock candy crackle paint. Looks great when it dries. You can do the same thing with a layer of paint underneath. When you use cardstock or paper, there will be some warping, depending on how thick the paper is, but I still like the look. You can always glue a couple of layers together if you want it to be a bit thicker.
