I'm headed to the NY/NJ area for my dh's high school reunion. Since he grew up near NYC, he has seen and done everything. I've been a couple times so I don't need to do the usual tourist trappings. We might do a show - whatever is available at the TKTS booth. But does anyone have a suggestion for a nice dinner spot for my birthday dinner? We're fans of RHONJ but don't watch NY and I know they go to the city a lot to eat and one husband has a NYC restaurant (Italian?) so that's an option. I would love suggestions for a restaurant, a show, and some NYC things to do. I'm game for a hop on off tour in case something grabs our fancy but he wants to know what we're going to do and go and I'd love your thoughts.

I'm out several times a year. The one restaurant I go back to time and again is THE GREEN TABLE
Small and quaint, but not crowded, great servers and really delicious food. Enjoy! ETA: JOSEPH LEONARD is another I go back to as well.

My choice for a birthday dinner would be Le Bernardin or Blue Hill.
Have a fantastic trip!

I love Cafe Luxembourg. It has a real NY feel and lots of locals and celebs eat there. Not quiet and romantic, though, if that's what you're looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions. I can't get dh to dress up beyond jeans so that would be another factor.
