Getting antsy about not having my 2017 planner situation figured out yet. So question for any Get to Work Book users- how is the paper quality? I found a little demo Elise did with pens... And know that the paper is "sharpie-proof" but curious about highlighters. I use regular ink pens but highlight my way through my to do list and it would drive me crazy if they bled through. I use the occasional stamp as well but I really do use my planner to plan- so those lists are the most important part for me. I am using an Inkwell planner this year and their paper is amazing. But I find the color schemes a bit difficult to pair with my highlighters and the occasional sticker that I like to use. And I am OCD enough that I still need my to do lists to be visually appealing if you kwim. So I am thinking that a black and white canvas might be the way to go this year. Thanks for any feedback you can offer

I'm throwing out another option; what about a pen that erases? I have the pilot frixion (sp?) pen. I don't like writing in pencil. I like the permanence of this ink and it doesn't smudge. So, when you accomplish a task erase it and write something else to do in place of the blank space. It all depends on how extensive you make your lists and how much space you have to write them.

I find the most ridiculous amount of joy in seeing my completely highlighted (aka completed) lists. But also serves a purpose of some record keeping too- what day did I call whomever or mail out bills, etc. And I think that in some ways it helps me feel like I actually accomplish something everyday. I was a full time corporate career person turned SAHM when I started having children. It does give me some weird validation of actually working/accomplishing something everyday now. Anyhow...not to totally derail my own topic. But thanks for the suggestion.

The whole point of writing to-do lists is to cross things off Sorry OP I'm no help as I haven't used a Get To Work Book. They do look lovely. Tbh I just stick with regular filofax, they do so many styles of refill now and I have a lovely blue one.

I bet you could direct message Elise on instagram and she'll let you know. I am pretty sure she uses the same system of making lists and highlights tasks as she completes them.

Unsolicited suggestion here: my friend has a passion planner that is really durable (don't think it's sharpie proof, but there's no bleed with regular gel ink pens and highlighters) and it is formatted like the gtwb, but far, far less expensive, and I think, better. Give it a quick gander at passionplanner.com - they even have downloadable samples you can print out and trial run.

I have the Get To Work book from the end of last year to mid this year. The paper is thick. Yellow highlighter doesn't show through. I also tried green (my green is much juicier) - there was a very very slight shadow if you peered closely at it - I asked my husband and he said he couldn't see anything.
I would check with Elise if the paper is the same quality as last year - if so then I would say you are good to go!
hth.

I like the permanence of this ink and it doesn't smudge. The ink isn't permanent, though. Heat makes it disappear. I'm not sure exactly how much heat; I've seen videos where hair dryers remove it. I'd be worried to use the pens in a planner if I lived in a hot environment and regularly left my planner in the car in the sun.

There is some light ghosting with my Versacolor inks and juicy highlighters. I tried the KP planner inks, and since those are due inks, they bleed through. I was hoping they wouldn't because the GTWB has pretty thick paper, but they do.
I like the GTWB but I don't need all of the project planning pages, so it adds a lot of bulk to my planner. I am still on the hunt for a planner that I like better, but the GTWB is pretty good for now.
Also: My pens don't bleed through, but juicy ones will ghost. The sharpie pen is fine.

Its bulky so it has to stay home. I wanted something that could travel with me. So I use a travellers notebook diary insert instead. The cover on the back also fell off. Elise said she corrected this with the next ones. Quality wise inside its great.

I have used the GTWB all of 2016 (so far) and haven't found any issues. Of course, I don't use super juicy highlighters, I have a set from Pilot Frixon that are erasable and some other ones that are more marker-like but have fun colors like grey, I can't remember what they are called. I too like to highlight as things are complete--I used to have a color per day of the week system (so I could see how productive I am on each day) and I still use this system at work for my work to do list on my desk, but now I've started using different colors for different categories (i.e. one for cleaning, one for personal growth/fitness, one for craft goals, one for errands/bills) to work on balance. Anyways, that's getting off topic.
The pages are super thick, although I don't use sharpies, I use dark pens, highlighters and stamps (typically black staz-on because I have a tendency to flip the page too soon and don't like how dye inks need forever to dry) and haven't had a bleed issue. Sometimes, occasionally, you can see a faint shadow, but not enough to ever distract from writing on the opposite side. On the flip side, this makes the pages very thick, and with the extra project pages included the book itself is bulky and not great if you carry around your planner.
I hope to use the project pages more, but have started using travelers notebooks for this type of long-term planning, so I'm not sure I'm sticking with GTWB next year. But at the same time, I haven't seen anything I like better, so for now it's my choice. Hopefully this helps!
ETA: I'm typically a lurker on 2peas, but I want to start commenting more... although I typically browse the boards are work and don't like to log in haha

If it were wire bound I could see myself using it, but that is a deal breaker for me. Has to lay flat and fold in half... My husband calls me "particular" about things

What about the unbound A5's she added... You could pick and choose pages or not carry the full year at once. I am a fan of wirebound, but I don't carry mine around so bulk isn't an issue.

Sounds like you are using mildliners to highlight... I started using those after I saw Marcy P using them. Love that they aren't all really bright neon colors. Good to know they work well with the book. I'm not sure how I would want to use the project planning pages but I am sure the list loving slightly OCD side of me would find them useful. Thanks for for coming out of lurkdom to share too. I recognize your screen name from SC. There is certainly a lot more going on over here these days than on the SC boards.

Yes those are the highlighters! I got the recommendation from her as well, I couldn't remember who it was until you said it. I love lists too so am trying to find a use for the planning pages, but typically I plan projects and take months to actually implement them, so they get "lost" back in time in a planner so traveler's notebooks have been working better for me. I'm hating having all the empty pages though!
There definitely is more going on over here, I got so bored at SC's message boards even though I avoided this place for awhile just because I hate the format of the boards (they aren't pretty, I know that's silly, but it bugs me). But the more time I've spent here, I've gotten more used to it, and this is definitely a fun place to come catch up on everything when I'm bored at work

I'm a big fan of the GTWB - on my second one. I have been a planner user since fourth grade and this one is the first one I've really loved in a long time. This year's I split in half so it's less weight and I'm liking that a lot. I keep the second half in my office where I do most of my long-term planning anyways. I love that it's black and white so I can selectively use color inside. I do most of my writing in .03 precision pen black and love mildliners - neither of which bleed at all. Jet Pens sells them all individually so you can choose the colors you like the best. The project breakdown pad is really useful to me too. I also use blank color theory tabs to be able to easily locate lists and certain items in the GTWB and they held up all year in my first one.

I am pretty sure I could order $25 worth of mild blue green & mild violet highlighters and hit their free shipping threshold I had never even looked for the, individually since I bought mine in packs. And thanks for sharing about them not bleeding as well. Good to know about the CT tabs too. I have never bought them but they might be handy with that book.

Happy to help! I liked 5 colors that were in a few different packs so that I loved that too! I liked the idea of them, but when I got them I really fell in love. I'm sure I'll find a way to include them in my DD!
