I went to use a solid stamp (one that kind of looks like Dymo text) and EVERY ink pad I used sucked. It was splotchy or double stamping bled into the text. Then I decided to try my Versafine and that thing stamps beautifully, without the need for double stamping or letting it settle. I'm so glad I have the one in my stash, but now I 'need' more. They are pricey, even with a coupon, but I can see why they are worth it. I can see myself adding several to my ink options.
I know I bought mine at Joann's but it says 'not sold in stores' online...if they stopped carrying them in stores there, fingers crossed I can get them at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I don't stamp as much as I'd like because I hate when it doesn't turn out...this ink is going to save me so much sanity!

Hmmm. I am certain my Joanns and Michaels carry them in their stores. I am pretty sure HL does as well. (Atleast in black. Dont know about other colors).

◾Finally, you can ink your stamp with VersaMark Ink first, followed by your inkpad. The VersaMark tends to stick to the stamp image well and sucks in the ink from your inkpad. The VersaMark will not hurt your inkpad. The above came from this site: shestampsalot.com/help-with-photopolymer-stamps/I do the above sometimes, ink with clear VersaMark and then ink with whatever color of ink I want to use (not VersaMark brand). I find this useful on wooden stamps of Mickey Mouse where Mickey has the solid black ears to stamp black. I've also done this using clear stamps that have a lot of solid spaces. I googled without the quotation marks and period "versamark for photopolymer stamps." There looks to be several entries that mention the above. I knew that I had read it somewhere and I've done it several times and it works. I have one clear VersaMark ink pad that I keep clean and another VersaMark ink pad that I use when doing the above technique.

Versafine works better (maybe because it is such an intense black)...but I just tried this tip and it worked really well with my Memento Tuxedo Black. Better than any of my previous attempts so now I can happily try this out with more of my inkpads instead of not using them out of frustration. I think I had heard this before but being that I am not currently a big stamper, it must have fell out of my head as unnecessary information. I collect stamps like crazy...probably 5-10% of my stamp sets are used because I struggle with them so much. Between this time and the MISTI, I'm hoping that my stamp skills improve and that I use them on more projects (I am trying to pull at least one set out every time I work on PL). Thank you so much for the suggestion!!

Between the discussion around the absorber and now this versamark suggestion, I might actually develop a bit more of a love relationship with my stamps versus what has been the case: love to buy them, hate to use them because I'm always disappointed in how they stamp. I am so excited to use them more!! This board is so awesome. So many helpful tips!!

Do you need to refresh your inkpads? I use this stuff to keep my water based ink pads stamping well. I think they just released one for distress inks too that I need to pick up.

I think I have purchased every brand available. But the only ink I use is Versafine. I wish it came in more colors. I've only seen black and brown. It's expensive, but worth it. AND it lasts. I've been using the same pad for two years. Last month I bought an extra (at HL w/coupon) so I could have one at home and one in my travel bag.

One of the first things you noticed on my table at the crop! I use Versafine for all my stamping unless I have to use StazOn.

Versafine is my go to black ink but I use versamark a lot in combination with other inks, particularly with large solid stamps.

Versafine is my favorite ink too. I use it for most of my black stamping. It is expensive but worth it because the ink pad stays wet for years. It is the only ink on the market that really doesn't need reinkers. That is their big selling point. I love that it is oil based.
I use the load technique too. I don't own pigment ink. I always load my stamp with Versamark and then load it with dye ink to make my own pigment ink. I don't really stamp in pigment ink that much to justify the cost of owning a lot of pigment inkpads.

I prefer Versafine, too. I think I read about it years ago when we actually received magazines .

Do you need to refresh your inkpads? I use this stuff to keep my water based ink pads stamping well. I think they just released one for distress inks too that I need to pick up. I bought 2 bottles of this after my Black and Basic Grey from SU dried out for no apparent reason. None of my other inks were impacted...this did not help them whatsoever and only left stains (like water marks) on the paper...spraying didn't work, so I tried to apply it using the hose end of the nozzle...nothing. I keep forgetting to call SU about it...they said they'd replace the pads for me because they were defective, but I called about 2 months before they released them to the public (they had given black out to convention goers so I knew it was coming out). Still haven't felt the desire to call back and it's been roughly 14 months since then. Unless I have to (like with a utility company), I tend to not make voluntary phone calls like that, lol. My other inks work great for outline stamps or using my MISTI to double stamp, but I don't like to pull my MISTI out if I'm working on PL...it is better for a good play with my stamps or making a card. It's a bit inconvenient when scrapping versus an acrylic block. I haven't used my inks enough for any of them to dry out. FYI, Joann's no longer carries Versafine in stores, so the site wasn't lying. Instead of buying ink when I went there yesterday, I ended up buying a TON of Tim Holtz dies because the whole section was on clearance. The Sizzix section was on markdown, too...the magnetic platform was $14.97 down from $39.99. I behaved myself but plan on going back today because I can't help it, lol. I went to the Joann's really far away and they had a full section (I usually find their clearance when it's picked over), I'll be going to my closer store today and if they are slim pickings, I'll be going back to the far away one. Someone found the extended plates for the Sizzix machines for $6.97 (the price the dies I bought were) and I really want some of those, did not see them last night but wasn't looking too closely, either.

Versafine is a wonderful product and comes in 12 colors. All of them can be ordered from the Imagine website here. All of the Tsukineko products are available from their US affiliate, Imagine. I stamp with all of their inks and play a lot with the other products because I am fortunate enough to be on the Artist in Residence Design Team. I won't lie, it is a blast to try new techniques and share them. The Imagine blog shares something new almost every day. Versamark also comes in 3 versions now, one with a gold sparkle and one with a silver sparkle. Check them out here. Happy stamping!
