I'm starting to really like some of the booties I'm seeing. I'm 45, though. Is that too old to wear with jeans?

What does age have to do with boots?
I really don't get people who even think this way, honestly,

What does age have to do with boots? I really don't get people who even think this way, honestly, I just wanted to make sure that they wouldn't look too silly on someone my age. i think certain clothes items do have a age limit. Maybe booties aren't up there with cropped tops, but thought I would put it out there. I tend to dress quite conservatively. Just a simple question.

You can wear ankle boots at any age, I think. You don't have to do the skinny or ankle jean either; they can be worn with boot cut jeans too.

Personally for *me*, I can't get the ankle boots and skinny jeans to work. I know it's the current trend, but I think I look wobbly or something. I feel better wearing riding boots.

Without reading the replies first, I'll admit to buying 2 new pairs recently. I really like the lower profile many of them have right now. I'm 55. I'll wear them with jeans and (thick) leggings (and yes I wear really long tunics).

What does age have to do with boots? I really don't get people who even think this way, honestly, It is probably because every time we turn around, young people tell older people that they shouldn't wear certain things or we will look ridiculous, or that we are trying to hard, or not dressing our age or some other kind of nonsense. It gets to be sometimes that we, those of us of a certain age, feel like we have to have validation before we start wearing items that are not common to our normal wardrobe choices. We also get told about all the things that supposedly make us look older too. Stinks really, you can't win.

Oh my goodness I am 46 and I wear jeans and boots all fall and winter! Distressed jeans, even! With, god help us, a raw hem sometimes! Maybe even embroidered jeans! Flat boots, boots with a heel, a chunky heel, a stiletto heel. Leather, calf hair, suede with tassels. You name it. If I like it, I wear it. Generally my teenage daughter even approves

I hear the same thing about hair too, that you shouldn't keep it long after a certain age. Screw that. Nothing against short styles, but I like my long hair and hopefully will have it the rest of my life . I love boots, I'd love to get some of the cute ankle ones, but right now my 47 year-old feet are just as happy in their Doc Martens .

( I'm 45, though. Is that too old to wear with jeans? Bloody hell I hope not! I bought a pair of ankle boots at the start of winter (nearly 4 months ago) and I have worn them just about every single day since I bought them. I wear them with either jeans or black pants. I'm 48. If you had said you want to wear CFM boots with a leather mini skirt and crop top, THEN I might say you're too old! ETA: OMG, I'm not 48..... I turned 49 on Thursday! I'd better get used to giving my correct age.

There's a whole world of over-40 fashion bloggers that I would recommend to people who feel dictated to about fashion by 20-year-olds. You are really not going to let some little shit who was in diapers when you were becoming an adult shame you and tell you what to wear/what not to wear, right?
There's no reason women over 40 have to be relegated to pastel polyester pantsuits. Fight back. Take risks (because really, how risky is it to be a little more adventurous with clothes?) Don't go gentle. Make yourself happy. Express yourself and your creativity through your clothing choices.

I think I'm missing something. Aren't they mostly covered up by your jeans? Unless they're tucked in, and then does it matter if they're ankle or knee -high?
But what do I know, I'm 57 and own a handful of pairs.
I thought question was going to be about wearing with skirts. I have to use more discernment- and maybe a good tight- than I did when I was younger. But others can carry it off!

My 17 yr old DD and I have the same size foot, between us we have 5 pair of ankle boots. I love them and I am 48. We also have 4 pair of knee high boots. We both have a shoe thing and love being able to share.
