I swear we must the only district around who *still* does not have a calendar for the 2014/15 school year. All I know is they start on 9/2 at 7:45 am. I don't even have an exact end of day time yet (it's around 3). You know how hard it is to plan anything without a freakin' calendar? I try to schedule dr/dentist/ortho appts on days off. It's not that I just don't have it, it's that it hasn't been finalized yet On top of that, we have no supply list for my 7th grader. They are supposed to be getting Google Chromebooks, but I'm hearing conflicting info on if it's start of school or mid-year, no idea if they'll need anything special for that (laptop bag, jump drive, etc). This is the first year the elementary school is having the county-wide preschool program at their site (the program has existed for years, just not here), my almost 4yo is supposed to be in that class. I have no information whatsoever. I don't know if it's an all day/everyday program or not. I don't know what supplies he might need. Nothing. I'm starting to get really irritated by the lack of information considering we're less than a month out

Wow.... Our school district plans the year 2 to 3 years in advance! It is so hard to think about what's going to happen a couple years down the road, but they do it

Wow. That is crazy. Our 14-15 calendar was adopted way back in April or May and released shortly after.

Wow. Our 14/15 calendar has been out for a long time. Since well before the 13/14 year ended.
We always start the same day, though, so that's a given for us.
But info specific to the upcoming year like classroom assignments, bus schedules, and such...they come pretty late.
But really, the preschool thing would really aggravate me. To not even know what days it is...that's crazy! How do people schedule care for their kids if they work outside the home?

Yeah, that's not okay. Your district needs to get it together!

OMG! I would be going crazy! I already have the entire school calendar in my google calendar. Our district has this and next year's calendars up. Last year it was really late going up but not as late as yours. We usually start after Labor Day. ca angel

That would all irritate me as well. Most districts adopt their calendar by april

It's time for the parents to be contacting the School Board. Seriously, that is beyond ridiculous under any circumstances. The administration must be completely inept for that to occur. It makes you wonder what other issues are being affected by their incompetence. I would be out in front with picket signs. (Can you tell I have a sore spot for our school district? You hit a nerve!)

Wow! I'm shocked that is allowed. So many folks that need to know and plan around dates, events, etc...

I think ours does two years at a time. What an inconvenience. Have you called administration?

I think ours does two years at a time. What an inconvenience. Have you called administration? I think ours does the same thing. However, I know our dismissal times are changing (we are banking time) and I am not sure if parents have been notified (I am a teacher, not a parent)

It would be irritating enough not to have a schedule if you kinda knew what everything was going to be like based on years past. But w/the changes you district is implementing, they sure should be giving parents a heads up a lot sooner. Good luck!
