I second the pitcher tip. We NEVER take the water tank off. Ever. We fill it from a pitcher of water from our water cooler. Never had a problem with this machine. Before that, our old machine was always clogging and not working properly. We used to take the tank off to fill it. I definitely think that matters.

That's why I would buy it only at Costco. We had one fail after about a year and Costco took it back so we bought another one. It's been fine but we make sure we only use bottled water.

We.love.our.Keurig! BUT....we have gone through 2 machines in 4 years. The first one just stopped putting out a full cup even after descaling, cleaning pin holes, etc. So we bought machine no. 2. Last month no. 2 stopped putting out a full cup. We descaled, cleaned, and "spanked" the machine (turn upside down and give it a good whack). That worked for one cup maybe two and it was ready to be spanked again. I emailed Keurig last week and got a "ticket" number and instructions to find the serial number before calling. I let them know that I had researched the problem I was having on the Internet and found that many others had had the same problem. One guy even had a You Tube video where he took apart his machine (Platinum) and found that water was seeping onto the motor. My question to Keurig? Have you identified or corrected the problem because it seems to be well known out on the Internet? If so, what model would that be? Well, just this morning I followed up with the call to Keurig. They led me through a whole series of questions on how I descaled, how often, what kind of water did I use, etc. etc. I was polite and insistent that I had done everything "by the book" and still had this problem with not one but two machines. Although I love my Keurig and K-cups, I couldn't justify spending another $100-$200 for a machine that will only last 2 years. At first they offered me a discount coupon but I told them I'd rather have some assurance that they had identified the problem so that in 2 years I wouldn't have to buy again. Sent me to another rep who repeated the questionnaire. The final result was that they are sending me a new machine and that we should descale regularly instead of waiting for the "descale" light to come on. She recommends quarterly descaling, and, of course, using the Keurig-brand descaling solution instead of just vinegar. I am very pleased with the customer service I received. Although I was not looking to receive a new machine - I would rather know that it would last - I am hoping that more frequent descaling is the answer. The CS person claimed to have had hers 7 years! For those of you who like the single cup convenience but not willing to try (or try again) a Keurig - this is the one we have and like: Bunn MCU Single Cup on Amazon (not an affiliate link or anything...) Those things sitting next to the brewer are the "drawers." One for k-cups, one for pods, one for your own loose grounds, and one if you're just heating water (no coffee flavored water!). It will brew up to a 14 oz. cup at a time - the amount of water you put in = amount of coffee out, minus a bit absorbed by the grounds. If you drink several cups a day you may not like that it doesn't have a reservoir. I have gone back to my old fashioned coffee pot in the morning but the BUNN is great for that one cup in the afternoon or evening. We've had it for over a year with no issues. *knock on wood*

Again, I just can't get over how much trouble you all seem to have. I've descaled maybe once? twice in 5 years? We removed the reservoir regularly before we put our new faucet it which has sprayer that can reach the machine. I do not use filtered water...just water out of the tap straight from our well. Water that my hair dressers have complained about for years because they can "tell" I'm on well water.
I'm going to go find a piece of wood to knock on.

I will admit, I am not a coffee drinker and I do not have a Keurig. But if so many people have problems what's with all the love for them? Just curious more than anything. Dh and I work different shifts. So when he wants/needs full caff to start his day I want de-caff at the end of my day For me it has also cut down my coffee consumption. I drink 1 cup of coffee in the morning instead of 3-4 cups. I also prefer a softer coffee while dh drinks a bolder coffee. So I enjoy my coffee more now

After having two break (the original and the replacement from Keurig), I said forget it and went back to Mr. Coffee. Not worth it.

We went through 3 Keurig machines. The first lasted less than a year, and Keurig replaced it. The second lasted about 13 months and they balked about replacing it because they said their warranty is 12 months. When the 3rd one broke, I was done. We have this Bunn My Cafe and LOVE it! Melanie

I just bought one at Costco yesterday. It came with a water filter thing and the adapter for coffee grounds. I'm glad to have read the tip of pouring the water in the reservoir with a pitcher.
I hope mine lasts a long time--I know my mom's finally died a year ago, and she had hers for several years.
