Luckily dh brought his mini home from work so I can use it till I get a replacement. I have the B70 (it's the platinum one that has the 60oz container). I think I might get the same one but the newer version (that fixed a few flaws) and it has 72oz water container. BUT, Keurig is releasing the Keurig 2.0 that apparently will only take Keurig brand k-cups. I use my own coffee in a refillable k-cup so I'm not sure I will be able to use it with the new machine. They have a carafe with this new one that looks pretty tempting too but would mean the bigger version of the k-cups.
Thoughts? Any suggestions for a different machine I should look at?

Everything I've read says to buy before the new version is out. No one knows for sure which specific cups will work and it's going to be confusing until the companies figure it out.

Make positive sure your old one is really dead first. Mine plays dead periodically, then gets over it and works fine a few days later.

Contact Keurig customer support. When mine broke, I called and they sent me an upgraded model as a replacement free of charge...no questions asked. They have awesome customer service!

Unfortunately, my experience with them was completely different. Mine kept cycling through the programming stage, and wouldn't brew. I called Keurig and they looked up my machine. It was one month past the warranty. The woman told me that "this is a known issue, and there is no repair for it." I said that since it's a known issue, it's obviously a defect. The woman agreed with me, however since my warranty had expired, there was nothing they could do but give me $20 off a new one if I bought it directly from them. Well, with a coupon from Kohl's, I could get one MUCH cheaper than the price she offered. In addition, why would I want to spend so much money on a coffee maker that was only going to last a year? We found that giving it a good whack with a closed fist would stop the cycling so that you could push one of the brew buttons. It actually started working normally after about a month of whacking. It now comes on at random times, but I just turn it off when I see the lights on. When it finally dies, there's no way in heck I'm buying another one.

We have had 3 Keurigs and all broke including the Cuisinart Keurig. We finally got a Breville Keurig, and this thing is amazing. We have had it for several years without the problems the other ones had. It's truly my favorite.

I just "retired" my Keurig and went back to my ancient Krups coffee maker. It was one of the original ones that makes the coffee directly into an insulated carafe-it's probably 15 years old but it makes the BEST coffee.
My keurig was getting wonky and I decided to not replace it.

My Keurig has been on the fritz for a while now as well. I have heard that the company has amazing customer service and will replace machines when they die. So I called and the lady had me watch three videos online and follow the steps in each one to descale the machine and clean all the little parts. It helped but my machine still doesn't work correctly, even after descaling it again.
I want to get a new one as well, but it sounds like I'm going to be buying it myself since the company didn't seem very wiling to replace mine. I didn't realize a new model is coming soon that may be a game changer though. I'll have to look into that.

It would be worth a call just to see if Keurig will help with your machine. They have been really helpful when I have called and twice sent me new replacement machines.
I went through three Keurigs before I read a tip about not removing the water reservoir to refill it. Carry water to it using a pitcher. It has made a wonderful difference in the machine working and eliminating problems. The one we have now is the Crusiart Keurig and it has been working for 2 ½ years now. I also have it plugged into a surge protecter, which is another tip that I read.

The display would light up briefly when I turned it on, but then nothing. I called customer service and after the rep I spoke to went through the 'menu' of questions on her end, told me nothing could be done, it was out of warranty and I could purchase a new one through them at a 'discounted' price. As someone else mentioned, I think I could get a better price on sale elsewhere. Between this and the cost of the kl-cups, I'm seriously considering just sticking with the stovetop percolator I bought last year.

Yup, mine all have broken down and had to be replaced. Sometimes you just have to be persistent with customer service. I had to call them two to four times before they finally gave in and sent me a replacement. After going through that three different times I am back to using an old coffee maker. When I am desperate and short on time I make myself coffee flavored water (instant coffee)!

I'm 1 year past the warranty (this was actually a replacement to another one that went belly up). I've done all the tricks, dh even attempted a few things. It was the first model of the platinum edition and there is a defect that rusts the pump. Not sure why I keep buying them. Convenience? Addiction?

It's the convenience that I like. I like my coffee fresh brewed and not to sit in a carafe for awhile. DH, on the other hand , doesn't care. He gets up about 2 hrs earlier than I do and makes brewed coffee.

Could this be the start of a worldwide coffee machine protest?!! I have one similar to the Keurig and, out of nowhere, it has just had a strop and poured coffee all over the counter top and floor instead of into the cup....and now it won't even switch on at the moment!!

We gave up on keurig. I think it's ridiculous that they can't make a reliable machine by now.
We're currently trying out the Bunn single cup brewer. It takes k-cups, pods, and loose grounds but doesn't have a reservoir. Maybe that's why it's still working!

I wonder about the Keurig popularity too. I'm guessing that we just don't hear from the folks who have had good luck with theirs. I used to be a HUGE Keurig fan. I bought mine after using one at a meeting. Everyone was flocked around the machine, picking out flavors and it was so much fun! I got one, tried quite a few varieties, but then started thinking about all those little plastic cups I was sending to the landfill and bought the "use your own grind" replacement cup. It took a lot of the fun out of it, since it was the same thing every day, but I felt better about using the machine. Then, when it went wonky, and customer service didn't help, I starting looking at coffee makers and our coffee drinking habits. Turns out, what we need in this house is a machine that will brew a single cup of coffee OR give a single cup of hot water that doesn't taste like coffee. I'll be searching for a new machine...hopefully something with a better track record than the Keurigs seem to have.

I went on Craig's List in search of a small Keurig for my DD. She is 14 and loves tea and cocoa. Both come in K cups. I thought it would be both fun and easy for her. I found a Mr. Coffee Keurig for 10.00. After doing some research I found that it was recalled. I got the recall kit and they sent me a new coffee maker. While I was excited that my 10.00 used coffee maker turned into an 80.00 new coffee maker, I'm not that excited about the machine. Yes, I use it on occasion with the coffee K cups but, I don't think it makes a very hot cup of coffee. Fine for DD and her tea/cocoa. I'm not impressed. If and when it dies, I will not replace it.

My Mom went round and round with Keurig wanting to have her maker replaced. It was only 6 months old when she started to have problems with it not brewing. They kept wanting her to take her machine apart and do this or do that. She did or she would call my dh over to mess with it. Finally, they replaced it and after a few months the second one stopped brewing. She gave that one away and told them to fix it or have it replaced. She replaced it with a vintage Sunbeam Vacuum coffee maker that she bought at an estate sale that makes great coffee. Jennifer

But it's interesting because mine acts up if I use the filtered water from the fridge. Or so I thought. I mainly use bottled water because our filtered water is gross, but thought my Keurig worked better with bottled water. If dh fills it up with filtered water he takes the reservoir off and brings it to the fridge. I will have to see if using a pitcher will help. Thanks!

That is the problem with anecdotal evidence I guess! LOL. Sorry yours sucked. I will be really sad if mine breaks down because I am the only coffee drinker in the house and I hated making a pot of coffee (even my little tiny coffee pot) since I just drink one cup a day. So I guess the pitcher may or may not work...

I've wondered for a long time now how I got so "lucky". Our original Keurig Platinum (large reservoir, 3 cup sizes) has been going strong since day one in November 2009. I may have to run out and buy a current one for backup because I'm going to be really P.O.'d if mine finally crashes and burns and I can't use my favorite coffee (prefilled pod or refillable).
OP good luck on choosing a replacement. I will likely never go back to a standard coffee maker again. Being able to make coffee to my liking while my husband does the same? Just too perfect to go back. Thanks for the heads up on the new version coming and the potential issue with incompatibility with current pod designs.

I had problems with mine a few years ago. I'd bought one at Bed Bath & Beyond in January, and it died in March. They replaced it with the same model, no problem. That one died after a few months. At that point, they sent me the Platinum one at no extra charge. I've used that one without a problem for almost 3 years now. Their customer service really is great. I'd at least give it a try!

This just happened to me. I have the none fancy original model keurig. The kind that had 2 sizes to choice from. It was $120 4.5 years ago and it has had a lot of heavy use. It made a tea for me and then it didn't work again. And hour later there was a new one in its place for $90, then I had another tea. I love my keurig

I just ordered a new one. QVC had a decent deal with 4 packs of coffee/tea/etc and it was called the Platinum plus edition? Has a couple extra buttons. 5 payments too so that's pretty cool. QVC KeurigETA: I did email Keurig a couple days ago when it happened and they never responded. I know I'll get the "descale" it answer when I call. I don't feel like raising my blood pressure.

I bought mine originally for two reasons: the capability of brewing different kinds of coffee for different people and my not having to deal with coffee grounds. So I am not willing to switch to another kind of coffee maker. I've had mine for years, maybe four years, and I admit I've had problems with it off and on ... Keurig replaced it once but the new one acts up sometimes, too (I'm the one who said it plays dead, then comes back to life), but mostly it works fine.
So even though it isn't perfect, I'll stick with Keurig because most of the time, it does exactly what I want/need.
(But I won't use it for tea. Tea needs to be made with water that isn't coffee-flavored. I have an electric teakettle for that.)
