We just got a Sodastream (the Fizz model) last week, and we LOVE it! However, we've already run out of CO2, which seems really fast to me! The canister that came in the box was supposed to be good for up to 60L, and I don't see any way that we've come close to that. I will say, I do think DH may have been over-bubbling some times, as he likes a lot of carbonation. Even so, though, one week seems a bit quick to me.
What's your average replacement time?

We are fairly heavy users. We use it daily, probably (we have 3 girls who were using it through the summer and my husband and I). We got our Sodastream for Christmas and we have refilled it twice, maybe 3 times. It seems to last about 2-3 months for us. You are supposed to press the button several times until you hear the buzz 3 times (more or less) depending on your carbonation tastes. The last bottle of CO2 we had my husband thought it had run out because it seemed to act funny about the 1-2 week mark, but after taking it out and screwing it back in again, it started working again. I think maybe the connection wasn't making good contact (? - I don't really know).

I am the only one in my house that uses it and I probably average out to a bottle a day. I buy two of the big canisters (130L) and they last me about 8 months. I go to a store out of my way to buy the big ones because I felt like the little ones run out so quickly!

Oh wow, I must be fizzing too much. I use mine everyday, probably fizz 2 of the big bottles each day and mine last barely a month! I still feel it's cheaper than soda and better for you. I use very little of the syrup, just enough to give water some flavor. I got the big daddy plug in one, I wonder if there is something wrong with it hearing how long your canisters last.

I only got the canisters to last a few weeks. It was very expensive. I bought a 5lb CO2 tank and an adapter kit from CO2doctor.com. I exchange my empty tank at a local welding shop and pay just $10 for a TON more CO2.

This sounds like something we'll have to think about if they keep going so quickly. Great idea. I almost wonder if the canister we got wasn't filled all the way :/

Off topic, but what flavors do the peas like? I haven't found any that taste better than regular pop. Any recommendations or tips?

That's the problem, they feel the same way, empty or full. My SS has a indicator on it that shows the level of the canister. I hardly think it's accurate though. I continue to use the canister even if it indicates empty!

My dad has a sodastream but doesn't use it often so every couple months he refills his canister. He got an adaptor and uses a different CO2 tank (like the ones used for paint ball guns) We get it filled at the fish store for $3

Off topic, but what flavors do the peas like? I haven't found any that taste better than regular pop. Any recommendations or tips? I actually use mine to make water. Seriously, I became addicted to Pellegrino mineral water, which is slightly carbonated and a little flavored and find regular water to be flat and blech. So I carbonate the water and add a couple-three tablespoons (approximately) of tonic water and I end up with a flavorful water concoction. My Pellegrino habit was becoming costly (even on sale) and this is a lot cheaper. I make and drink probably a couple of bottles a day? I haven't calculated it all out, but a bottle of Pellegrino on sale is a bit over $1, and I was going through a case+ of 750mL bottles a week. I can buy a recycled canister of CO2 at Target for ~$13 and it lasts ~3 weeks, I think. Throw in a bottle of tonic water at $1.69 and it's still a deal over what I was spending.

The Dr. Pete doesn't taste exactly like Diet Dr. Pepper, but it is still tastes good. The Diet Pink Grapefruit tastes just like Squirt. Other flavors we like are the Crystal Lite ones (Raspberry Lemonade). We mostly do the diet ones, but my daughter loves Cherry Cola.

I don't have a Sodastream machine, but I agree about the flavored sparkling water. When I worked in an office I was buying a can of pop every afternoon, which made my pants shrink (heh). The sparkling water still has bubbles and flavor, but nothing else (though my husband nearly had a cow when he figured out that I was buying water with bubbles in it).

The only Sodastream flavor I like is diet pink grapefruit. I usually use a crystal lite packet.

I'm the only one that uses it here and I had a cartridge that seemed to be out too fast too. So the last cartridge I used I made a tick mark for every bottle I carbonated. I got to 35 bottles before it was out.

I'm not a fan of commercial sodas, so I love the sodastream and just add a slice of lemon or lime or splash of fruit juice. My kids tried all the available flavors in a trial pack and decided they didn't care for them.

I was surprised also when I got my soda stream at how quickly the co2 ran out. When I replaced it I realized that the cartridge that came with the machine was a mini! The regular cartridge is much larger and lasts much longer. Maybe this is your situation also??

I'm glad other people feel it runs out quickly, I felt ours did, too. As for flavors, I like some of the "naturals" from the soda stream brand. I've also used just some of the Torani syrups with them.

I fizz to 3 every time. It lasts 2 months or so. I refill at Target at Guest Services for $15.
