We haven't had one of these threads for a while, and I always enjoy seeing and hearing about what everyone is up to.
I have a giant zucchini I am going to make some bread and something yet to be determined. And I do mean GIANT.
I am going to make a batch of homemade ice cream out of my Ben & Jerry's recipe book I bought a few weeks ago. Not sure which one yet.
I also am loving a new afghan I started crocheting last week. It's for my best friend for her birthday in November, and it is turning out awesome.
Finally, I have all the ingredients on hand to make a big batch of pesto using the basil that I have coming out of my ears.
Oh, and I plan on a trip to a local orchard tomorrow for peaches. Not sure what I'm going to make with them...2 weeks ago, I made a batch of peach preserves and a peach cobbler. I think I may just slice and freeze a bunch to enjoy this winter. I'll probably make peach crisp or pie, too.
So, what are you up to these days?

You are making lots of wonderful and tasty things. Do you ever bread and fry zucchini? It's our favourite once-a-year summer meal. We eat it with slices of fresh tomato and lemon juice. I am currently working on a cold, so no fun projects for me today.

I have to give an hour-long presentation on using learning centers in the music room to my district colleagues next week. I'm working on that (and procrastinating here) and trying not to freak out about it. When I agreed to do it, they said it would be a round-table discussion with others bringing in their ideas, but apparently I am the only elementary music teacher in my district using learning centers, so it's all me. Yay.
And now I'm getting freaked out all over again. I may give up and go make the double chocolate zucchini bread I pinned a couple of days ago. Much less intimidating!

I just pinned a recipe for zucchini fritters the other day that I want to try. My coworker gave me the zucchini, and she said when they get really large, they don't taste very good raw. Is that true? This thing is a monster!

Well, I'm going on vacation next week and I'm thinking of packing up an easy crafty thing to do by the pool. So I'm going to take an embroidery hoop, my floss and some tea towels and sew some cute new tea towels for the kitchen. I haven't embroidered in ages. I think it'll be relaxing. I can never get into book reading by the pool because I'm too distracted by the kids and can't lose myself in the book. I think this will be a win!

I finally got around to trying a new hummus recipe today, but I'm not terribly impressed with the flavor. Think it needs some tweaking.
I also have a large zucchini from a friend and plan on trying a zucchini casserole for dinner tonight.
I'm analyzing my homeowners insurance policy so we can make some additions to our coverage. We're getting a little uncomfortable with the frequency of sink holes and resultant water issues in our area. We want to make sure we're adequately covered, just in case.
A trip to our local orchard for peaches is also planned soon, as well as a jaunt down the road to check out Trader Joes... we've never been. And, finally (because I don't want to and keep putting it off!) I really, really must clean off my desk. It's a total embarrassment!

Good luck, Merge Left! I always get sucked into things like that as well. I say go make your chocolate zucchini bread! Cooking always relaxes and inspires me.
Yvonne, that sounds lovely. I used to embroider, but haven't done it in a long time. Please show off your tea towels when you finish them!

Great thread! I always have a layout in process on my scrappy table, so that's what I'm making. Today, the most I am cooking is my heart-attack-on-a-plate lunch, fried bologna w/mayo on white bread. The next real thing I plan to cook is Chicken Tacolados on the crockpot on Sunday. And what I'm working on is watching a bunch of trashy movies I have on video/DVD. Let me tell you - the old commercials alone are worth keeping VHS tapes! This morning I watched Mistress w/Victoria Principal and now I'm on to Valley of the Dolls. ETA: Since my movie watching got me my Beastly Member title, maybe I should add The Omen to my list today, lol.

I'm planning to collect some recipes and make some dinners to freeze in individual servings when I get back home next week. This cooking for one thing just isn't working for me. I tend to eat junk or skip meals and I can't afford to lose any more weight and really need to eat more healthy.

Another with giant zucchini so plan on making some bread for work.
Also want to make a couple of tees for the grandbabies before they grow out of the extra tees I have laying around.
Definitely want to hit the scraproom for some cleaning and then need to make a few layouts and get caught up on some PL.

Over the weekend, I made golden raspberry jam for the first time and it turned out fabulous. I've made raspberry jam plenty of times, but I wasn't sure how the flavor of golden raspberries would translate to jam. Yum.
I also made 30 quarts of dill pickles and 20 pints of spicy garlic pickles. I planned to do pickled beans too, but ran out of time, so they ended up being blanched and frozen.

At the moment, my kids are in the kitchen making "easy ice cream in zip loc bags". It actually works. The first batch turned out well and now they are doing it again.

Cooking- I'm gearing up to make a bunch of cake balls for a bridal shower. I first made cake balls for this group of ladies many years ago after I read about them on 2peas (before you could buy them at every Starbucks and get a million recipes for them on Pinterest, which didn't exist!) They went bananas for them- I became famous for cake balls, lol! Anyways I haven't made them in a long time and they were requested for this shower, so I guess I'm back at it!
Working on- getting my daughter to sleep in her crib. Does that count? Cause that's pretty much my "hobby" at the moment.

I finished my crochet baby afghan at 3am this morning, int he middle of baking a cake, while my insomnie was flaring.
I worked today and when I was done I gave myself a mani/pedi for the weekend.
I've got a yummy dinner planned with wine! Glorious wine. Then I'm going to relax with DH and figure out what to crochet next.

I just started the practice run for the bodice for a tutu for DD. I think I am going to use a rehearsal tutu for the base so I don't have to actually make that part, it's scary. I'm 99 percent sure I have figured out boning..,guess we will see.

Not working on anything but organizing my garage/work space.
Both of my girls are moving into unfurnished apartments this month so I'm scouring garage sales for everything they'll need. And they need EVERYTHING!!lol

Quite a bit.
Due to being enabled here...I just bought and electric pressure cooker and I am going to try that out this weekend.
I am making/working on several knit/crochet projects 1) A big afghan that I've been working on for a while (I've mentioned it before - it has over 1,000 granny squares) 2) I am knitting some dishcloths for a swap on Ravelry 3) I am crocheting some purple baby hats for charity.

Amazon just delivered vanilla beans yesterday and DH picked up a bottle of Vodka. I am going to take a shot at making vanilla extract. I have a bottle of rum from Puerto Rico and may make some with that as well. I have the initial of our last name and cardboard Welcome from H.L. I need to finish them for a shelf by the front door.

I am SO not in a cooking mood! Once fall gets here, I hope that will change.
Right now I am working on putting my mom's old pictures into an album for her, and scanning/printing some of my favorites for my own personal scrapping.
I'm also in the midst of de-cluttering our upstairs--next, the downstairs!
I just love to embroider. It really is relaxing. I hope you'll share pics of your tea towels when you're done. I made some cute ones with scotties on them a few years ago, but I can't bring myself to use them and get them all stained and frayed! LOL.

I plan on doing some baking this weekend. Since we are getting to the end of blueberry season I am going to try a new recipe. It is a gluten free knock off of Starbucks blueberry bars.

Well, doesn't giant zucchini seem to be the trendy thing right now? I too have several large zucchini to deal with. We had vegetarian tacos burritos made with zucchini, black beans, corn and salsa for dinner a couple of nights this week. Tomorrow I am going to make zucchini, chocolate chip cake and also some zucchini muffins to pop into the freezer.
My basil is also going crazy so I will have to make a rather large batch of pesto one of these days.
