I think I read somewhere that you can cut felt in a Cameo if you use interfacing but I've never tried it. I usually use my Big Shot and dies for cutting felt. I have an idea for a Christmas card and thought that if I can cut felt with my Cameo I would eliminate the need to purchase 2 dies. I'd probably end up using more than one blade for my 50+ cards so at the end of the day buying the dies might be the better way to go, but I thought I'd ask and see if cutting felt is possible.

I can't imagine! I'll be interested to know. Maybe if you use felt that is really thin and dense?

Thanks anniefb! I think that in this case buying the dies is a better idea. I need to make about 50 cards. The dies will cost $23. If I use the Cameo, I'll definitely go through at least 1 mat, a couple of blades and chances are I'll mess up more than a couple of cuts!! This is the reason why I have a manual die cutting machine!

I definitely want to try cutting something - even just as an experiment - but I know what you mean about using up blades/mats etc and just the ease of cutting in a manual cutter. My Big Shot cuts felt very well (I always use Papertrey's wool felt).

I've done it with my Pazzles Pro. Stiffened felt cuts much, much better than the floppy regular kind. In either case, I had to use a fabric mat which is much stickier than a regular mat for paper, plus tape it down on the edges. The designs have to be fairly simple also. I saw a video on YouTube where they stuck the felt down to the mat using Contact paper over the whole sheet of felt and it seemed to help the blade not get stuck in the fibers as it was cutting.
Personally though, if I was going to have to cut felt pieces for 50 cards I would just buy the die. In the long run, it will go much quicker, much easier and with fewer hassles and problems.
