Just wanted to check in, as I didn't see a thread this week, to see how all of us Recovering Soda Addicts are doing this week.
I have gone 23 days now without a coke or any soda, and I actually don't miss it at all.
Hope everyone else is hanging in there!

Well done Kathy!! I am doing well, I am on my 96th day soda free! I still have days where I would love a vanilla coke, but so far I have stayed strong. I feel good, and Have lost about 15 pounds

I started back to school this week. Wow! I forgot how tiring that is. Lol!

You guys helped inspire me to stop buying soda for the house a few weeks ago. I haven't had any when we're out either. The only downside is that we've already had to make one extra order of 5-gallon bottles of water this month, and I think we might need to do a second one before our regular delivery is scheduled. But that's a problem I can definitely deal with.

Doing well! I had a bit of Sprite one night late last week when I was sick, but I'm looking at it as not a cheat. I had a very small glass, and that was it, and it didn't make me want more, so I think I'm good. Sometimes, I still want some DP (at times, I still miss the fizzy sweetness) but then I think about all that sugar, and water just feels like the better choice. If it's a real bad craving, I tell myself I have to drink a large tumbler full of ice water first, and by then, the craving almost always dissipates. I feel like I've come a long way in conquering the beast!

Yay! We're all doing it!!! Some days, I still can't believe it. I still am struggling, though, with the thought of maybe one day having one. The other night, DD and I were out shopping and I contemplated having just one to see how I reacted. She encouraged me to give it more time. She thought I hadn't been soda-free long enough for this social experiment. So I decided on water. Not sure how I feel about never, ever having one again. I would like to think that some day I might be able to have an occasional soda without imploding or setting myself back to zero. But I've decided to keep playing out the total abstinence for the timebeing.

Today is day 31 for me! I have had 2 diet cranberry limeades over the last month, along with some tea (every once in a while). I have not had any caffeine in the past 2 weeks due to trying to regulate my BP. I had a big 5 lb weight loss the first week I dropped it, but nothing significant since then. My BP is in the borderline area still, so DC may not have played much part in it. Either way, I'm healthier for it and am not craving it at all, so I will continue to drink mostly water and a little tea here and there. Glad you all are doing well!

I can admit I havne't been completely pop free, but mostly yes. The 2 times I have had pop was over the weekend I was up at my parents for a funeral. I haven't completely stopped caffeine, as I have a small glass of tea (unsweetened) daily. They didn't have any tea and I knew I would need caffeine since I was up all night with my 11 month old DS. I had a small DC and I hated it. My DH worried I would go back to drinking DC, but I didn't. So I know I can drink one and not go back to my habit. I have lost 2-3 lbs so far, which is good for me!!

I have been pop-free for almost 3 weeks - i don't crave it anymore, which is a relief. I was drinking a LOT of diet mt dew.

It takes alot to go soda free. Congrats to you all. I had to give up soda 6 years ago when I had oral surgery. I have never gone back and I'm very happy saying that

You guys are amazing! Congrats to you. I had (yes had) been off soda for a year. Then DH accident we were in the Trauma unit and I had not eaten or drank anything forever (we missed dinner and it was after midnight. They asked if I wanted something to drink and believe It or not they had soda and that was all no water. I had a diet coke and since I have had many I started back to zero yesterday though.

I stopped drinking Diet Coke in early April. For the most part it wasn't too hard to go completely cold turkey, but every once in a while I still have the craving for one. This past Saturday I caved and bought a Diet Coke and you know what? It was so gross! Ha! Definitely glad I tried it as now my cravings are totally gone for good I think.

I am at day 72. I have had no desire to grab a Coke Zero. I have found Seltzer water (Vintage is the best!) and I've also found several drink mixes that use Stevia (both WalMart and Target have them now - and True Lime has a line as well) I am not a huge water drinker, I like flavor, so I've been using all of these tools instead of turning to Coke Zero.
I have had three instances where I drank pop, but only out of necessity (for the most part, and not wanting to pay $4 for 20 oz. of water). Two times was at the movie theater. There are just no options other than the $4 water. (Next time I may smuggle a seltzer in) and the other was a small hot dog shop where everything had sugar in it. There was the only place I should have gotten water, but again, spending $3 on a 16.9 oz. bottle just chaps my behind. In any case, I drank a root beer (didn't get diet because I'm totally off of artificial sweeteners, so I took the sugar instead) and it was totally gross. I should've just skipped the drink altogether.
Anyway - other than those few times, I've been great, haven't touched anything with nutrasweet and I've only had a smidgen of Splenda (using up the MIO's I have at home)
The other "treat" I've found is Zevia soda. It's a bit pricey - but it gives me my cola flavor without all the chemicals, because its all natural.
Way to go everyone who has perservered. And if there are those reading who have fallen off - it happens! Just start over! So proud of everyone!

Due to all my marital drama, I hadn't been eating well and fell off the wagon just trying to keep my blood sugar up But I haven't been buying soda for the house. I've got one at lunch a few times when I was out and at a family member's house, but I do just fine going all day without one. I call it a success. I'm not craving them or having withdrawals and since I eat very few sweets, one every now and then when I'm out is not a big deal.

I just responded to nepean's post about how she's been soda free for 100 days. I went and counted back how many days it's been since I drank a Coke Classic...115 days. I do miss it but it's not too bad... just a fleeting thought.
Congrats to everyone who's on this journey. It sucks but it gets better over time.

You gals are doing great!!! I've been primarily soda free for a couple of years. There are times when I want one so I have one. Fortunately, a little goes a long way. I get a 20 oz and drink may 1/2 cup and I'm done. It gives me my fix and I'm good for a long time again. LOL I drink carbonated water occasionally too just for the fizz factor.

You ladies are doing great! I never officially joined but have been cheering you on from the sidelines!
I am not completely soda free but as I posted in the original thread, I cut back from 2-3 per day to 2 per week. That was in June. Recently I find myself having 1 a week or none at all! I do drink tea and coffee but drastically reducing this soda addiction has been huge for me.
Keep up the good work if it is cutting back, cutting it out, or even just swapping 1 a day for something else!
