So this morning I am painting. Again. I have been painting for days and days and days. Of course, I am blaming you all and cursing you all under my breath heartily. You see, I asked in another thread what people look at when you are buying a new house. Almost universally you all noticed freshly painted walls. My poor little old house has several rooms that haven't been painted in quite a while and I took all that advice to heart and decided to paint. Unfortunately, one wall turned into one room which turned into two rooms which turned into adding a hallway, which turned into a ceiling...and so on. I have now successfully done two ceilings, a hallway, a bathroom, a dining room and a good portion of a living room. I still have the sleeping porch (including the ceiling,) the rest of the living room, redoing some trim around doors (I have pocket doors that had to be removed and rehung because of changing a floor covering level and that requires the trim to be removed) and several other spots. I am tired of painting. So very tired. Sick and tired of it really. And it is all y'all's fault for telling me that freshly painted walls was something you looked for. I think that because it was y'all's idea in the first place that you should be here helping. (This is most a 'feel sorry for me because the painting never ends' complaining post. )

Ah anxiousmom if I lived close I'd come and give you a hand. But it sounds like you have got loads done so far. Are you pleased with the new look?

I hear you! I painted the living room this summer, and I have painted two walls in DD's room, and I'm so, so sick of the smell of wet paint.

Totally get what you are saying and am right there with you. We started painting walls in order to sell, then had to paint more walls, then we had to paint all the trim. It went on and on. But at some point you are just done!

Oh I do understand. My dh and I sold our house a year ago. In preparation we started to paint. After one day of painting we realized we didn't have the time needed to do it ourselves and hired painters. Yes it was a big chunk of our budget but was worth it. I had a small 1200 sq ft house and it still took the painters a week to do it. Do you have some friends you can bribe to help paint? Lure them with pizza. Good luck to you getting it finished. The paint does help sell the house. My motto was fresh and clean. We had new paint and packed everything up to make it more spacious. It sold the first week on the market.

Seriously, I would help you, it could be a party! I understand what it's like. And when you have a painting party, it doesn't seem like work at all!!

Ah anxiousmom if I lived close I'd come and give you a hand. But it sounds like you have got loads done so far. Are you pleased with the new look? Actually I am. I don't know if accent walls are still trendy, but I have a small one in a really nice dark color. In my little house I have distinct rooms that are separate by rounded arches as openings. You can stand in the kitchen and look straight through from the kitchen, through the dining room and to the end of the living room. I decided to highlight the arch and it looks SO good. The realtor came by yesterday and she said that of everything I had done so far, that wall was her favorite.

I painted and redid the vanity and flooring in the kids bathroom, painted the master bath and bedroom and walking closet, and the laundry room. Then I decided everything needed a fresh coat and hired painters. Lol good luck!

This too, shall pass. In the end, you'll have almost a brand new house and maybe don't even need to move! Yay! At any rate, hopefully it will sell much faster! Good luck! If I could, I'd have helped! I enjoy painting!

When dh and I paint I do the taping and he does the actual painting ... it's still a PITA so I know where you are coming from ... I would hate to do the whole job by myself Vent away and I'm sure that it will increase the interest in your home

Just think of all the money you will be getting when it sells on the first day of listing, at over asking price!

It will be worth it. It will be worth it 😄 This!!! I painted my whole house: Trim, doors, ceilings and walls and my kitchen cabinets, over the course of a year. I listed my house on the last Friday in September and I got an offer 9 days later. We're in Escrow and expecting to close November 19 (my dd's birthday). Hang in there! If you're not in a huge rush, you need to take a couple days in between painting if you can. That's what we did but it was actually weeks, not days. It helped. I was sick of painting too. I'd seriously help you if I could. I feel like a pro at this point. Save

I'm sure it'll be worth all the hard work! I hate painting too. Needed to redo my living room this year and hired someone to do it. It's expensive though - so think of all the money you're saving

I'm sure it'll be worth all the hard work! I hate painting too. Needed to redo my living room this year and hired someone to do it. It's expensive though - so think of all the money you're saving I have to admit, the paint has been less than $200 for all that I have done. I have been lucky that I actually have the time, so I am getting it done for a lot less than hiring someone. But goodness. I may never paint again. The last few houses in my neighborhood at the price range that I will be selling in have sold in less than 30 days. If they are in kind of good shape, they go quickly. I have done everything that was suggested to freshen up (paint and a new carpet in one place) and fixed a couple of places with wood rot issues and had a suspect electrical outlet updated. Roof is good, structural integrity is good. Really, all that is left is painting. And good gravy there is a lot of painting. I have even painted trim, shutters and my front door. (Oddly, my realtor said not to paint the front door a color. She said to leave it white.) But it will officially be over and done with by the end of two weeks. If I am still alive by then.

I'm sure it looks lovely and fresh. You'll be so pleased when it sells quickly and it will have all been worthwhile.
