In the texting screen, how do I get rid of that grey part above the keyboard with the word suggestions? It is not helpful to me. I have looked in the settings, but don't know what it is called.
Thanks.

Does anyone know if these new features will cost anything extra? I have a contract with unlimited calls and texts but have to pay extra to send photos.

I use Messenger more than I use Messages, but I was just playing around with the new features and discovered that the "send with fireworks" option uses the haptic feedback and it really enhances the fireworks effect. Cool!

Everything sent in Messages counts toward your data allowance (unless it sends in a green box, then it's a text). The effects are very low on data usage.

OMG! I love this. I keep sending my kids and DH funny texts and pictures. On the "Markup" screen, I press down the T for text but the text box shows up in the middle of the picture and I don't know how to move the text box. Any suggestions....

I understand that sending to a smart phone will use data. Bear with me because I have menopause brain ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) . When I send a text to my partner, who doesn't have a smart phone, drawings I have made using the new feature, he is receiving them. Will these be treated as a photo so I will get charged for them? I hope that makes sense!

I am so used to swiping to unlock my phone. Now I have to remember to press the home button twice. Hard to get used to. That's been my only issue as well. I'm finally getting used to it, I think Save

I can't get my blue up arrow to work. For those that can't get it to work go to settings>general>accessibility and make sure Reduce Motion is set to off. That's what I had to do. Hope that's your issue also! There you go! Now mine is working too. Thank you for this tip! I have been sitting here sending myself messages trying to get it to work. I really like the gifs and the ability to draw in there now! That would be so helpful when I'm describing something to someone. I like the prewritten words like thank you and congratulations, etc. They are making this way to fun! SaveSave

A few days ago I was texting my son about their upcoming show "Madagascar" and whaddya know...the flag of Madagascar showed up in my text box to send to him) I then typed random names of countries...including the Czech Republic and Somalia and the flags appeared. Haven't seen anyone mention that feature yet. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) You're welcome.

CeeScraps is there a trick to the magnifying glass? I couldn't get it to work with any finger. I too have trouble getting it to show. For me to get it to work I lay my phone on a table and then tap 3 times. It seems to need the hard surface instead of my hand to get the pressure right.

Yes, as you text emoji's show up within the "word choices"......it's kinda fun!
Those of you having trouble remembering how to get in have you tried the fingerprint option? I wasn't going to but did. It makes it super easy to unlock your phone. Oh, and if you use this option you also can enter your phone with your password.

I hate the new way to open the phone. For multiple reasons:
1. I can't read the clock in my car with my polarized sunglasses on, but while driving, the clock at the top of my phone is too tiny for my eyes. You used to be able to hit the home button twice on the lock screen and the time would show up bigger.
2. I exclusively listen to music, audiobooks, or podcasts on my phone while driving. You used to be able to quickly and easily access them from the lock screen with home button pushes to get to the controls. Now that just opens the phone or pops up the passcode if you have it on.
3. Last, and this isn't home button related, the swipe up from the bottom seems more difficult since the update. If you're listening to something and want to access the controls while doing something else, the pull up doesn't work in some apps (seems like it doesn't work if the keyboard is on the screen) and if it does you now have to swipe to the second screen to get to the controls.

My battery life (iPhone 6) is sucky and my phone sometimes gets hot when charging. It varies. I haven't been able to find the reason. It's driving me crazy. bummer. thanks for letting me know. I've had no issues...not with it getting hot or with the battery life.

the new text effects?
If you text someone, there is a blue up arrow that you can hit to "send", but if you hold it down, you can add effects including lasers and balloons. It's very cool.
(A definite upside to having teenagers in the house! ) Thanks! I hadn't known about these. I was able to impress my friends yesterday, LOL.

In setting type home In the search (cause I can't remember where it it ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg) ) and you can change it so you just touch the home button to unlock

That is what I mean, and that's what I mentioned in #3. But, they used to more easily accessible before. Click the home button and boom. Now, click the home button, but make sure you don't accidentally click twice, then swipe up (which doesn't always work the first swipe or two), then swipe again.

In settings i have the option turned on for "Enable Caps Lock", but how do I keep the caps lock key on? If I have to type several letters in a row in capital, it takes forever as I have to hit caps lock each letter.

I am so used to swiping to unlock my phone. Now I have to remember to press the home button twice. Hard to get used to. Ugh, this is so annoying! My last phone and my iPad have had home button issues so I really hate that I have to use it twice as much now. I ended up turning on the fingerprint recognition thing so now I just hold my finger on the button an it opens.
