I don't use FB (no reason, just no interest) but she calls me over today to tell me that somebody left her a negative comment.
Me: "What? Wait? Who said what?"
Mom: "I posted my feelings about women being more than their looks. Somebody commented that I must not be comfortable with my fat"
[my mom is 72 years old, 5'2" and maybe 120-130#]
Me: "eh, ignore it. The web is a big place. What exactly did you post?"
Mom: I posted:
Donald Trump just doesn’t get it.
When he criticized his opponent Carly Fiorina, it was NOT about her qualifications to be president, such as education, experience, her questionable performance at Hewlet Packard, her knowledge of and positions on important issues like ISIS, climate change, infrastructure, energy independence, education, income inequality, taxes, social security, immigration, healthcare, combating poverty, etc., etc. (I would not have voted for her anyway.)
No, he scathingly criticized her appearance. In fact, he doesn’t appear to be interested in discussing important issues. Has he studied these issues or even read his briefing books?
As a former beauty pageant sponsor, Donald has perpetuated the notion to impressionable young girls, and to all women, that their sole value as human beings is to look physically attractive and alluring to men.
To his value system, a woman’s character, integrity, intellect, and achievements are not as important as her looks. He even brags about his own daughters’ appearance first, rather than anything else they may have accomplished.
And his vulgar remarks are a further indication of his shallow values.
Proverbs 31 never mentions anything about a woman’s physical appearance, but rather praises her character, integrity, compassion, and good works.
Carly Fiorina nailed it when she said “Every woman in America knows exactly what you meant.”
But Donald just doesn’t get it.
