I know we are all feeling stressed and tired about a lot of things, not least the American election. Let's post something we feel happy about, or a picture, or a joke or whatever you want.
I'm happy because I had a really nice weekend out of town with my husband and we got to have dinner with Kelpea and her husband! We had a terrific time.
And I got a real cool blu-ray collection of Wolf-Man movies and I'm watching that today while I putz around the house. Frankenstein is arriving today! I love those old horror movies.
What's making you happy this week?

Yesterday I completed a mulching project that I started last year and had to suspend for a while because of back issues. The big ole pile of mulch we've had sitting in the yard is now almost flat, and my gardens look great with very little weed breakthrough. I love working in the garden and I feel good and worthwhile when I'm doing hard physical work.

The weather is gorgeous!!! Perfect for getting the yard ready for winter. When I'm done with this I'm going to have an iced coffee and take a drive down to the lake.

I got an email from a cousin in Scotland this morning letting us know she is planning a trip to the west coast next year and hoping we will be able to meet. I stayed with her parents many years ago, but she wasn't living nearby and we've never met. I'm so excited.

I do Nordic walking and yesterday was a glorious day for it. The sun was shining, I was in good company, I appreciated that I was able (physically and time wise etc) to be out there striding across fields - it was a 'good to be alive' feeling for sure. I've seen more of the lovely countryside on my doorstep than I had in 20+ years before starting Nordic.

My new clogs arrived from Sweden and I am in lovvvve with them! I finally got around to winding some extra bits and bobs of yarn. The colors are so lovely together on this gray day that I don't want to put them away! I'm thinking of stuffing them all in a clear glass jar to enjoy.

We are preparing for a Halloween party this Saturday for over 70 people. There will be costume contest, games and prizes and pinatas. It will be gloriously chaotic and tons of fun. I still need to go costume shopping.

I'm still smiling from a great concert I went to this weekend to see my favorite artist Matt Nathanson. It was fairly local to me in a small outdoor venue for a charity event. And it poured- like the skies opened up and it was fabulous-definitely a concert to remember. Picture with Matt is about a half hour before the downpour. Too bad I didn't get an after picture-we looked like drowned rats.

I spend 11 hrs each week day with my 2 yo grandson. He makes me laugh every day. I love that I have the opportunity to be his daycare provider.
And grandson #2 is almost 3 weeks old.

I've been on the planning team for a very popular camp at our church for 4 years now. The camp has the goal of getting kids to think about service to others. We often get compliments from people in the community about it, which always feels great, but really the goal is to help get kids into that service-minded way of thinking.
This last year I had a real struggle writing one of the modules I was in charge of. Prayer, sweat, tears, meeting with others, consulting with people outside the camp realm - it just wasn't coming together. After months of work, I was finally able to put together something that I felt was solid, but probably wasn't going to be an earth shaker to anyone. Today, I ran into one of the camp directors, who told me a story about a kid he just met who had been really inspired by the camp and who has been really trying to help needy people as a result...and it turned out that the camp module I wrote was instrumental in making it click for him! (If you are familiar with the camp, the story is actually better than this, but there's too much back story!)
My prayer when I do this stuff is that it gets through to even one kid. We had something like 600 kids in 5 different weeks this year, but I now know that my work made a real difference to at least one of them! I started crying when I got in my car, I was so touched.

My Cleveland Indians are one win away from making the World Series!
I have a 20 year old who is at college 500+ miles away but she takes time to keep in touch with mama every day.
I have an almost 16 year old who still likes to spend time with her mama.

I'm happy that we get to close tomorrow on the Florida house I bought in an online auction Sept. 26th. Sight unseen and it was a really crummy photo used. Of course if they'd used a good photo the outcome of the auction would have been very different so I'm not complaining! So I'll be out of Alabama and a Floridian once again.

My husband and I get a weekend away in a few weeks and we just booked our hotel and paid for the priciest piece of it last night. I was beginning to second guess going to a Panthers game (they freaking suck this year...but I've gone from upset over it to predicting their next mistake and finding humor in it because we're usually right) because it was a lot of money to go and it didn't feel worth $600 to see them suck, so we ended up deciding on lesser quality seats for just a bit more than half the cost...making it feel reasonable. We just need to pay for admission to the sales floor at the Scrapbook Expo the day before the game and our weekend will be fully booked. Shopping, football, a date night after the shopping, a solid 36 hours of freedom from my children to recharge (so badly needed)...I can't wait and I can't express how excited I am.
My MIL is coming out here for a convention earlier in the week and is extending her stay to include the weekend to watch our kids so we can go. This will be the first overnight away from my kids other than being in the hospital to have another kid for either of us and I can't tell you how much we need it. We've been planning it for 6 months and I'm so excited to finally be booking everything. It finally feels real.
I can't say enough about how grateful I am for my MIL. My Mom will watch the kids while she visits for hubby and I to go out on a date, but she doesn't want to be a babysitter constantly...which I completely understand. My MIL, however, started coming out here to visit not long before our 3rd was born after seeing me vent constantly on FB about how I never get a break and insists we leave and do whatever we want for as long as she's here. We've taken day trips (leaving when the sun comes up and getting home in the wee hours of the morning) with her here, but never overnight. There just aren't enough words to tell her how much I appreciate her (she won't even let us pay for her gas or ticket to get here). Yay for awesome MIL's and time away for marriage strengthening!!

Ds' senior class was looking for fundraiser ideas. I suggested a yard sale. The sale is this weekend. The teacher was concerned about lack of donations but now a bunch of stuf is coming in. I've had several friends dontate stuff, I have a big truckload I'm taking tomorrow.
Last Saturday I got to celebrate a friend at her bridal shower. This Saturday I get to celebrate a different friend at her baby shower. So much to celebrate!

I weeded my garden. This is such a win because I hate weeding. It looks good. It hasn't looked this nice in over a year.
