My husband likes the very back row and like nearly the first row. I can't stand people in front of me and I like the screen to take up my whole field of vision. Sitting in the back makes me feel like I'm at home watching tv. I realize I'm in the minority!

Back row, center for both of us

I despise going to the movies.
It is so, so stressful to me.
When I do go (to take my kids) I have to sit in the center of the first elevated row that has the metal bar in front of it.

I can't stand the front - it's too close and it's a strain on my neck and my eyes. I much prefer to sit in the middle. The theater we go to (AMC) has the reclining seats and stadium seating, so I don't have anything blocking my vision and the screen is still close enough that it doesn't feel like home (especially since I don't have surround sound and I don't ever have my TV turned up that loud at home).

Either the very back row or the middle part of the theater. I don't like being too close.

Two-thirds of the way back, in the middle.

I do not want to be in the first row. I feel like I have to sit weird to see the top of the screen--like I'd have a crick in my neck when it was over.
I like a space bubble. So really, anywhere I can go where people cannot be on one or two of my sides works for me. So either the back row of the front section (in theaters with a walkway part way across the theater) or the front or back row of the back section, and an aisle seat are my favorites.

I have long legs so I like to sit in the row that has the wheelchair bar.

We have to sit middle center so that the sound is exactly right for my husband. He's a tad picky.

I always try to get there early so I can get a seat right in the middle - I prefer middle of the room and middle of the row. Optimal viewing spot

We usually sit 1/3 - 1/2 way back in the 2nd and 3rd seats from the aisle. It probably sounds jerky, but it's the best chance to not having someone sit next to me so I can have a purse chair.

We have stadium style seating in one theater and I like the front row of the middle section. No one in front of you and a great view. I like to sit in the middle of that row and no, I won't move to the end so your party of 8 can sit there (one or two spots to the left or right OK - but don't roll in when the previews are starting and get mad that the good spots are taken).
We have luxe seating in another theater - huge recliners with a center aisle. There I prefer to be on the center aisle toward the middle of the theater.

Somewhere in the middle rows, but near the aisle. I hate climbing over people if I need to use the restroom. But I also hate people climbing over me. Which is probably why I don't go to the movies anymore. I wait for the DVD.

Just one question....WHY do people have to invade your space at a movie when there is TONS of seating.. I swear I get my seat..middle center and someone always has to sit directly in front of me...I hate that.. I usually move a row up when that happens. Of course if it is a busy movie, I understand..I'm talking usually less than 20 people.

Except I don't find it stressful, just annoying. If I can't sit there I'm not happy so I try to get there early enough to claim it. I also skip theaters that don't have that kind of setup.

Right above the walking path to come into the theater. No one can sit in front of you, you are about half way up and the row is small that we usually take up the whole space and no one sits with us. We can stretch our legs out and and not worry about bumping the people in front of us. Plus with most people preferring the middle of the theater no one really sits behind us either. It's bliss.

That's why I'd rather stay home. Generally only X-Men or some other large spectacle I've been dying to see will get me into a theater.

I will sit anywhere from middle to back.
I can't sit in the front half because it bothers my dizziness being so close to the screen.
I only go to theatres now that have assigned recliner seats, so I don't have worry about getting there early anymore, I just buy the tickets online.

Of course if it is a busy movie, I understand..I'm talking usually less than 20 people. Because you are sitting in my seat. Well, technically my seat is probably a row or two behind you, but if you are in the middle, why do I have to sit to the side to give you a buffer? For me, since getting progressive lens, for comfortable viewing I have to be in the center, middle to back third of the theater. I don't like the last three rows for some reason.

Half to 2/3rds of the way back in the center.

At home. It is too dark for me in theaters so I get a migraine. I rarely go. If I do, I sit by the lighted walkway, so it is brighter for me. Oh and just a note of warning, if you have a fear of drowning, don't sit in the front row, 4 feet from the screen while watching The Perfect Storm. lol I couldn't sleep for a week after that. (The theater was full, so those were the only seats open.)

My dh is 6'3" so we try to get the back row if we can because people don't want to sit behind him I'm short so I'm OK anywhere but I do prefer to be toward the back

Optimal viewing spot This is another thing I love about our AMC - assigned seating. I buy my tickets online ahead of time so I can pick my seats when I buy them (from a seating chart). I know exactly where I'm sitting before I ever get to the theater, and I know if I want to skip a particular showing time because I can't sit where I want. It's great. Jen

Well because!!! haha... I get there early and find a spot... there might be 10 - 20 people in the whole joint and someone comes in a plops down right where I am stretched out. They could be over just one or two seats and be fine...but no..it's the seat directly in front of me... I guess I just never do that to other people... I give space...so I either have a row between us or I move to the left or right. I think it is just being nice. Now if there is more than 20 of course someone is going to have to sit in front of someone or in the same row...no biggie... I am talking mainly an empty theater.

I prefer last row center. This gives me the clearest view of the screen. Also,IME, fewer people sit here so I get more room if I want to spread out some or just don't feel like sitting next to anyone.lol
My husband prefers center of the theatre center of the row. This is where we sit most often. I do think the audio is better here for some reason.
I never understood sitting at the front. You have to watch the entire movie with your head cranked back. The image is distorted because you're so close. If I sat here I'd have a huge headache by the end of the film.
But hey variety is the spice of life. :-)
