All the way to the top and the chair right by the aisle because I like to stretch my legs out and I hate being closed in.

I despise going to the movies. It is so, so stressful to me. When I do go (to take my kids) I have to sit in the center of the first elevated row that has the metal bar in front of it. Perfect description of my seat. The theater closest to us has assigned seating when you buy your tickets. I can order them from home and pick my seats several days in advance. I don't buy tickets to any show where I can't have my seat.

My husband likes the very back row and like nearly the first row. I can't stand people in front of me and I like the screen to take up my whole field of vision. Sitting in the back makes me feel like I'm at home watching tv. I realize I'm in the minority! Nope, I'm like you. I don't like people in front of me either because I'm short. It never fails, if I'm not right up by the front or by a railing, someone tall or who has a giant head (or hair) inevitably sits directly in front of me and it drives me crazy! Thankfully the theater closest to us has all reserved stadium seating so I can choose the row next to the ledge with only a railing in front of me. This happens at plays and other kinds of theatrical events too which drives me even more nuts because those kinds of things tend to be a lot more expensive than a movie ticket.

very last row as close to centre as I can get - because I HATE having people talk or chew behind me, and I don't like having to move for people to climb past me to get to their seat

I prefer the very last row, right at the top of the steps. Not blocked in, and lots of leg room.

Middle on the end of the row. I don't like crawling over ppl to leave. This is me too.

I do like that first elevated row where the metal bar is, but I usually head halfway up the stairs and sit in the center of the row.

I like to be towards the back - but not necessarily the very back row - and in the centre. I cannot stand being in the front row, it's just too close and I can't see the whole screen very well.

Very back row and right next to the aisle. I like the idea of being able to escape quickly and not having anyone on one side of me. Otherwise, I feel claustrophobic sitting in between people. Also, I don't like having people sit behind me because I usually get someone who likes to kick the back of my chair. Luckily, at my local theater, we can pick our seats when we buy the tickets and I have my perfect seat every time!

I'm pretty high maintenance and specific about where I want to sit. I have had multiple surgeries on my left knee and also have a fairly significant hearing loss in my left ear so I have to be on the outside seat on the very left of the theatre so a) I can hear and b) I can stretch out my knee if needed as I am tall as well. I don't care as much about how far back but given a choice I will sit about 3/4 of the way to the back. I usually try to arrive early so I can get the seats I want

About the 3rd row from the back in the middle of the row. I absolutely hate sitting close to the screen and I hate when the movie is just about to start the theatre is empty and some mofo sits right in front of me grrr!

I always try to get there early so I can get a seat right in the middle - I prefer middle of the room and middle of the row. Optimal viewing spot This is me too! If I sit any closer, I get a headache, too far back and it seems blurry. I prefer the center of the row also. I never need to get up during the movie, so no worries about climbing over anyone.

The only time I have ever sat in the front row was when An Officer and a Gentleman was sold out and I was 16 years old and with my mom. God, talk about embarrassing. The shower sex scene was very, very authentic. Imagine seeing that up close like that with your mom!!

I like the back row as far away from other people as possible.

I went to the cinema with my friend yesterday, we've known each other for years but never been to see a film together before. It took us ages to agree on a seat. She says she always gets there 30 mins early so she can sit on the back row in the corner next to the wall!!! I like to sit towards the back but absolutely on an aisle seat. No way could I sit at the back in the corner with my claustrophobia. We ended up next to the back on an aisle seat. She was happy though since no one sat behind her.

Back row center, recliner seats only! I take my Snuggie, set up my tray (water and popcorn a must), recline and enjoy the show. I love to go on weekdays (retired) because I usually can put my purse/coat on the seat beside me.

Back row, center for both of us This is where we sit when we go to the movies. That way there isn't anyone behind you kicking your seat! Save

I have to ask those who don't like anyone sitting in front of them - does your theater not have stadium seating? I thought pretty much all modern theaters are set up this way now.

Our theatre has stadium seating, but it's not enough to not see the person in front of you. Or if there's a child in your party and an adult sits in front of the child.

In the old style theaters where the chairs were small and the aisles narrow, I liked to sit on the aisle because of my long legs, but now that both of our local theaters have nice big recliners and wide aisles, I don't care as long as I don't have to crane my neck. We also buy our tickets and pick our seats ahead of the show time.
