My ds is a junior and has expressed an interest (especially today after getting his pre-ACT scores back) in a study guide for the test. He is primarily looking for help in the writing section, if that makes a difference. If you have a child who took the ACT in the past few years and used a study aid, what do you recommend (or suggest staying away from?)
TIA!

I know there are multiple books out there. Also have home take the released practice tests, timed if possiblr.
If he wants to take/practice the SAT, khan academy is a great resource

Do you have any local resources? We don't live in a huge city but a pretty educated city and there are several people around here that tutor or have ACT prep classes.
To me, the kids want that personal interaction and don't get much from the prep books. My dd is pretty self motivated but she said the books are just too dry for her to keep with it. We are currently using a guy (retired teacher) that was recommended and used by over 20 of our friends and each child has raised his/her scored by at least 3 points for just six weeks of sessions each week.
