All of that being said, I'm more afraid of what he's unleashed than the man himself. He's given permission to revel in the ugliest parts of the human experience, to give voice to thoughts, words and even behavior that have no place in a civilized, polite society. This is the biggest thing I fear in day-to-day life. Unfortunately, I think that cat is out of the bag and running like crazy...whether Trump wins or loses, that element is not going away any time soon, nor will it even be politely hushed. I have been appalled at the racism and xenophobia that seems to be coming out of the woodworks - perhaps I was naive before, but I felt we were headed in the right direction. Now you have a leader (whether he's president or not) openly allowing and encouraging it. If he becomes president, I can see it going two ways. One would be that he finds out he actually needs to cooperate with people, which he won't do, and so becomes astoundingly ineffective at much of anything. The other is that he finds ways to make it work, as the king of loopholes, and exploits it for his own agenda. I do not anticipate him working cooperatively with much of anyone, whether in our government or another. He wants lackeys, not partners. I think in general, we'll lose many of our allies, or at least they will become paper allies only. I think any respect other nations have for us will continue to go down the toilet. I personally may benefit economically, but at what expense to others? People losing healthcare? Us turning away vetted refugees? I don't believe he'll win, but I also am not looking forward to the crap he's likely to put the nation through in challenges. And if he does lose, I'm not convinced he'll go away any time soon.

Hell, I'm afraid even if he doesn't get elected. Neither he nor his supporters are going to crawl back under the rocks they came out from. There could be riots starting on Nov. 9 and who knows what kind of shit he will continue to stir up. He won't go away quietly. There is talk of him starting his own news network after this. It'll be like Fox News on steroids.
Also, I hope that Hillary has a large security detail for like, the rest of her life.

There's a lot of ppl that feel the same way about Hillary. I'm not afraid of a Trump presidency I'm afraid of his followers. He's given a certain subset of people a voice. These are the people who show up at his rallies in Fuck Clinton shirts or She's a Cunt shirt. That's not the America I'm looking forward to living in. In a normal election year? Yes, life goes on...not so sure about this one. You know, when I first answered, I didn't even think about his supporters, but I have to agree. They scare the hell of out me, I've personally seen and heard some of the bullshit that they spew and it's scary and dangerous behavior and rhetoric. Look what has already happened in some schools that people have witnessed, children bullying others because of their ethnicity or even more sad, children worried that they will have to leave the country. THAT is not what makes "American Great Again".

I disagree with your reading of this board. We vehemently defend our views. Yes, sometimes even to disparaging remarks. BUT to say one side is nastier than the other is simply wrong. being planted firmly in the middle...and still undecided i can say that - both sides are equally nasty smart assed, rude, below the belt nasty condescending and self-rightous not all - but enough that it's noticeable gina Which is why I'm voting for Jill Stein. I know she won't win, but I just cannot in good conscience vote for either of these 2. I'm hoping there will be more of us voting this way. Even if she gets 5% of the vote, it should be enough to wake up enough people to get a third party on the ballot in 4 years.

I certainly wouldn't watch that channel.

I think life will remain the same. I believe in our system of checks and balances. I'm a little afraid that he will piss off the wrong people, but I'm hoping he has enough sense to pick a Secretary of State that can smooth things over if he is elected.

I'll sit back and enjoy a little schadenfreude as all Trump's plans and promises come to nothing, Congress revolts against him, and he leads the country into ruin, secure in the knowledge that I did everything I could to stop it, and that neither he nor most of his followers know what schadenfreude means.

I hear this a lot. Is it a reality for you? It isn't for me. I have no family outside the US & gaining citizenship in another country is not always an option. I think if there is a a doomsday outcome, I'm not sure boarding countries would be willing/able to take on the mass population of the US. Granted...this is way out there speculation & I sincerely believe this won't happen, but that damn "what if" lingers in the back of my mind. I just wonder why people would say, "I'm outta here" & in reality it's not possible. he is going start world war 3 and I have a step son who will be 18 next year. I can take us off girded for up to a year if we stay put or if we get to my family we can go off for good if need be. my step son lives closed then we do and he know if he need to get safe where to meet us. Is age relevant to you because of the potential to be drafted? If so, are you aware that women are required to sign up for the draft now, too?

I am worried. I don't see good things happening should he get elected, and I hope that the Congress has enough sense not to enact a lot of his ideas.
I think the economy will experience a downturn, relations with other nations will be strained (hopefully not hostile). I believe dh and I can weather the 4 years, I hope that our kids can too

We will be leaving if he is elected. DH's company has offices all over the world and he can do his job from anywhere. He's already had conversations with his team and his bosses and many of them are on the same page as us.

Before reading other replies so sorry if I repeat anyone:
I never thought he really wanted the office-just the publicity and attention. His ego won't allow him to quit. To win (in his mind) is everything. Anyway, anyhow. Say whatever he wants along the way to win whatever is in front of his face. May do a 360 many times over along the way, contradicting himself several times over. WIN! End game- Whatever gets him the win. Doesn't matter if he believes any or all of it. Doesn't matter. WIN! He doesn't see beyond proving he is the biggest, bestest, smartest and any other "est" you can think of. I almost think he hasn't really thought it through- the "prize" at the end. It's not just a title. It's a JOB!
If elected his "employees" (House, Senate) aren't going to be yes-men he now surrounds himself with. He can't use "you're fired" and bully everyone around him. They'll push back.
If he does get elected I think he is going to feel caged. He can't just drive off or come and go like he pleases. I don't see him handling just that fact. I think he'll suffer, for lack of a better word. Can you imagine him wanting to just go do something that he was allowed as a private citizen, and he hears "I'm sorry Mr President. That isn't possible." from Secret Service?!
We may all suffer, too, but I hope the checks and balances keep him in check. OMG scary thought him getting into a pissing contest with someone (world leader) that could make us pay the price.
If he doesn't win, the fanatical (not all) supporters could put us in a world of hurt, too. Either way is kind of scary. The "people are generally good" side of me hopes all will work it's way out peacefully, but I admit this election has me more anxious than any ever.
Scary thought either way, this election. Do-over or 4 year nap anyone?

I am seriously afraid for our country, and the world, should Trump be elected. He would fill his cabinet with equally inexperienced, unprepared idiots. His temper and idiocy and lack of respect for democracy, his demagoguery - how can it not negatively, hugely negatively, affect the USA??? Not to mention his armed, crazed, ramped up supporters, especially if he loses.... Very sad state of affairs and I blame the Republicans who for decades have been setting us up for this scenario. GRRR! Re: the bolded part of your post - I'm almost more afraid for you (as in the US) if he doesn't get in, and what his supporters may do.

I have moved so far beyond incredulous that I can barely think straight.

A true statement that he's probably proud of, I'm sure. Googled. It is true. And he thinks that's a good thing? I am so tired and baffled by this whole election.

I'm going to sit back and wait for America to be great again. It will be interesting to see what happens when he realizes he can't get all the things done he plans on. I'm concerned for his diplomatic abilities with other countries, both friendly to us and not. And I'm trusting (perhaps naively) that the checks and balances, not to mention the regular bureaucracy, will stall his crazy ideas. He's a narcissist and has no respect for checks and balances. He would be a dictator. This. I find the thought of him winning... the very idea of it... too terrifying to contemplate. I've said it before... he must be stopped, by any means necessary.

I am undecided where to move to if Trump becomes President. I was thinking 🇨🇦 until the peas informed me that they don't sell butter in 1/2 cup cubes and their milk comes in a bag. Mexico is out since Trump is going to build a wall. Jen
