One of the things that concerns me most that hasn't already been mentioned on this thread would be the people he would appoint to SCOTUS. The people who get in are going to be ruling on laws that will affect many of us possibly for decades to come, long after this next president is gone. This. So this. He wants to reverse Roevwade and marriage equality. We fought so long and hard for this. I have so many LGBT friends, one couple that was married last year, my son is gay. The ramifications of his selecting 2, 3 members of the Supreme Court that could carry into the next decade, terrifies me

If elected his "employees" (House, Senate) aren't going to be yes-men he now surrounds himself with. He can't use "you're fired" and bully everyone around him. They'll push back. If he does get elected I think he is going to feel caged. He can't just drive off or come and go like he pleases. I don't see him handling just that fact. I think he'll suffer, for lack of a better word. Can you imagine him wanting to just go do something that he was allowed as a private citizen, and he hears "I'm sorry Mr President. That isn't possible." from Secret Service?! Obviously he's not used to being told what to do....those would be interesting scenarios to watch.

I think if he wins, the crawling from other republicans will be absolutely revolting. People who want to be in power so badly that they won't denounce him now. I read an article yesterday that basically said this is like Brexit: people think it won't happen but it will and all the 'media types' will be surprised. It is still so close! And whatever happens, the hatred that has been unleashed won't go away.

They have been talking about women registering with the selective service, but I was under the impression that hasn't passed yet... It passed a few months ago I believe. Please don't think that I am being argumentative, because I swear I am not...this is just making me crazy because I remember all the talk about it and thought it had passed, but then I didn't hear another thing about the outcome and feel like I have to know. I only have boys, so other than me asking if they had done it yet, them rolling their eyes and saying yes, we didn't talk about it at my house. So I went straight to the source (selective service site) and as of right now, women are not required to register. Apparently, a bill passed the Senate that included required selective service registration for women, but the house passed something eles that blocked it. I guess for now the discussions are still ongoing but as of this time, women are not required to register.

I am seriously afraid for our country, and the world, should Trump be elected. He would fill his cabinet with equally inexperienced, unprepared idiots. His temper and idiocy and lack of respect for democracy, his demagoguery - how can it not negatively, hugely negatively, affect the USA??? Not to mention his armed, crazed, ramped up supporters, especially if he loses.... Very sad state of affairs and I blame the Republicans who for decades have been setting us up for this scenario. GRRR! Re: the bolded part of your post - I'm almost more afraid for you (as in the US) if he doesn't get in, and what his supporters may do. I think that would generally be a short term problem, where if he gets elected, all of the above become lasting problems.

Honestly? I think it's too late for our country no matter who wins. Too much hatred and disrespect out there that can't be taken back. I feel the damage has already been done. We have lost our place among the international leaders by selling our dignity for....something. I've been saying for a long time that the US as we knew it is changed forever.

It's just not LBGTQ rights and women's rights regarding the SCOTUS appointment that concern me, but I think that a very conservative court could do damage to collective bargaining, even more damage to election finance, environmental concerns and continue to take the side of corporate interests over American workers.

I am undecided where to move to if Trump becomes President. I was thinking 🇨🇦 until the peas informed me that they don't sell butter in 1/2 cup cubes and their milk comes in a bag. Mexico is out since Trump is going to build a wall. Jen Our butter has measurements on it so you can cut it into half cups. Milk in bags ins't bad and they are way easier to pour and store than a big, clunky gallon jug.

Weird, I could have sworn it passed both as my husband and I had a heated debate about it a few months ago after hearing it on the news. It was probably that it passed the senate though.

Ah there is no way you can compare President Obama 8 years ago to Trump today.
The gripe against the President was he was a Democrat who happened to be black.
Trump acts like a 5 year old who is a vengeful bully with an extremely thin skin. The whole thing against Trump is what he says when he is off message and his actions.
Let's not forget... I'm not a puppet, I'm not a puppet, you're a puppet.

Jen last time I was home in Canada I saw butter in 1/4 lb cubes for the first time ever. not most brands, but i did see some, if that makes your decision any clearer!

The gripe against the President was he was a Democrat who happened to be black. Really? You still think it was about his race? The best thing about him being elected twice is that he is a black man. I was glad to see that we have come that far in this country. I don't know anyone that had a problem with his race. They had/have a problem with his politics and how he runs the country. I didn't feel he was the best man for the job and his race never factored into that. That really hits me the wrong way and now I need to not open anymore political threads!

After he was first elected, I got one of those dreaded forwarded emails ... about how he was going to tear up the Rose Garden and plant a watermelon field instead. You (the global you) can have issues with his policy decisions, but realize that there are those who DO look at his race as an issue. We are seeing a whole lot of racist ideology these days and those people are the ones who really did have a problem with a black man in the White House.

My son says he is moving out in January so we have an extra bedroom. The garage is full though. Cable and utilities are included. Nice area, cul-de-sac with very nice families on the street, bus at top of the street, room for one car in drive way. Food is good, too although Atkins based. Own bathroom and own entrance. No pets, sorry.
If I could just convince BFF to move here all would be really good.

Unfortunately I know WAAAAY too many people who were absolutely upset that a black man won the presidential election, not once, but twice! I was so sickened by the actual words that came out of their mouthes. Some I cut off contact with because of the racist things they said. I had no previous idea that that's who they really were. Too bad most are family members and are not as cut-out able as I'd like. Now I just avoid politics when I'm around them.

There are also people who won't vote for Hilary because she is a woman. And yes there are people who voted for him because he is black and there are people who will vote for her because she is a woman.

Considering you claim to put hyperbole aside when state you think he is the actual reincarnation of Hitler, what exactly do you mean by "any means necessary"? Exactly what you think I mean. I truly believe he is that dangerous. He must be stopped for getting into office. Could you spell that out for me, please?

I want to be clear about something. I hate myself for how much I hate Trump. I know it's morally wrong. I am just deathly afraid. I all my almost 46 years of life, I've never been this terrified - and that includes a few times I almost died. I have a 3 year old niece & a new baby nephew coming in December. The thought of Trump getting them killed... I just can't even contemplate it. It's causing me major anxiety, and it gets worse as we get closer to election day.

What you asking? Do I have irrational thoughts that it would be better to have Trump dead then President? Yeah. That is how scary I think he is. Would I ever do it, even if I could? Of course not. The US has always, at times, had a willingness to 'take out' people who were viewed as dangerous to world security - i.e. the assassination of Bin Laden, and like the Allies tried to do to Hitler. In my darkest moments, I see Trump as someone as dangerous enough to warrant the CIA turning on him if need be, before he causes Armageddon. I absolutely realize that's terrible. I am just that scared right now about what will happen if he's President. I value the lives of the entire population of the world over one crazy dictator who is the reincarnation of Hitler.

Intellectually I know it's wrong. Emotionally, there are moments when I think what this monster will do if he gets into office that I wonder if we'd be better off. Sometimes that is how badly the fear consumes me. As to the Hitler question.... not a physical reincarnation. But exactly the same type of dictator & just as dangerous. Capable of that level of evil & depravity. So no, I don't mean it in a hyperbolic sense. I am specifically saying I fear he is our generation's equivalent to Hitler. He is an evil monster who will quickly prove himself to be a despot & a dictator. He's a fascist. He will have no respect for any rules or checks & balances.

Just like some folks didn't like a black president some folks won't like a woman president. In some ways this country is slow to accept change.

I don't mean this to be harsh-just honest. Your fear has you saying some irrational things. It's detrimental to YOU to be this wound up and have this extreme level of fear and anxiety going on. You're a Canadian. Even if Trump were elected, he wouldn't lead a march into Canada and take over by force.

It may not have been a matter of race for you, but for many it was whether they wanted to admit it or not. There were many issues that came up that show that to me--the whole Birther issue, questioning his religion, etc. Those things have not happened to any other candidate. There have also been continuous Facebook memes that have no purpose but to comment about his race and denigrate him and his family. I can't imagine what it would have been like if Obama was Trump's running mate.
