I love the sea, am a coastal girl, and I'm sentimental to a fault. I commissioned an artist to make this for our home and finally got it! It's customized to the colors of our living room. I asked for jelly fish, because I love them and never find them in wall art. The jellies are glass, and pieced together so the light shines through and they look different colors at different times of day. The window is an antique, and it turned out so cool. The other reason I had this made was to display some priceless items that are family heirlooms, such as my grandfathers baby shoe from 1911, brooches and watches that belonged to grandmas and great grandmas, baby spoons, agates my kids have   found, even a dog tag from a beloved pet, etc. I suppose you could call it a "decluttering" project lol. The artist also put in hidden items that symbolize our family- the word "dance", a antique spoon with our initials, a horseshoe, etc. for grins I made a list so it's an "I spy" game for curious visitors, especially kids love that. Besides what I gave her, the artist had creative freedom so I'm still discovering new surprises lol. its BIG! but I absolutely love it. |

Absolutely lovely - what a treasure! I love the colors and the arrangement so much - I'm also a coastal girl - and the antique family bootie and memorabilia are such a delight. You have an heirloom now, for sure.

That is very cool. I love how the artist blended the heirlooms into a piece with a completely different theme and made it work so beautifully.

An amazing idea and it turned out beautifully. I love that you transformed fairly heirlooms into something you will see everyday and created another family heirloom.

She doesn't have a website, she's only done a few of these, and mine is the first with personal momentos. A friend's daughter. I am encouraging her to get a website, as well as attend the holiday craft bazaars. She's amazing. Her other pieces are octopus, salmon, and ravens. They are beautiful. |
