My BIL asked if I would make him a simple, easy cheese ball. What are your favorite recipes for a good ol' plain cheese ball? He is having lots of oral surgery issues (has for months), and if he wants a simple cheese ball, he will get a simple cheese ball. TIA!

1 lb Velveeta + 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar + 2 - 8 oz pkg cream cheese softened Mix in mixer bowl with dough maker attachment. Add 1/2 tsp garlic powder and mix. Use wet hands to shape into balls and roll in chopped pecans.
I've been making this for the holidays since I was a teenager and it is delicious.

DH makes a cream cheese and canned salmon ball. People seem to like it but I've never even tasted it.

Is he having issues/pain with chewing? (Noticed the oral surgery part) If so, my go-to may not work. You could omit the nuts and dried beef though and it would be softer on the mouth! I would maybe add a seasoning though to it. Like a dried packet of ranch dressing mix? You can always increase the worchestershire sauce too, for tang. But this is how I do mine:
2 8oz. brick pkgs cream cheese 1 jar of dried beef, cut finely into 1/2" shreds 2 green onions, finely chopped 2 T. worchestershire sauce 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans to roll cheese ball in
Combine all ingredients except nuts, mix well and form into one giant ball, or two medium ones. Roll in nuts. Wrap in saran wrap, and refrigerate until ready to serve.

A block of cream cheese, some blue cheese, grated onion -- with a SPOON (not a mixer -- it creates a wholly different consistency -- not as good) smoosh the cream cheese and blue cheese together until it is smooth. Stir in the grated (or finely diced) onion. Form into a ball, rolled in chopped walnuts. Eat on crackers.... all of it... right up .... it is delicious ... everyone says so!

I used to make a similar recipe, but with diced jalapeños. Now that we're all getting older, I find that we can't handle the spice any more. I'm definitely going to try this one. TFS!

My sister makes one at Christmas that is SO yummy, some of us can't stop eating it !!! I don't have an exact recipe; but you can play around a bit and see if you want to increase/ decrease anything. -------------------------------------------------------------------- throw together : 1. a few cups of shredded sharp and regular cheddar cheese 2. A few tsp. of mayonnaise (be conservative at first, so it molds well...you can always add more later 3. About 1-2 tsps. finely chopped onion 4. A bit of cayenne pepper The part that makes is SO yummy is: **Strawberry preserves or jam on the side**---add a dollop on top of the cheese mixture---WOW! We gorge...errrr.. I mean....delicately eat it on crackers---although I realize he may not be able to tolerate crackers; it might be yummy on soft bread?

This is exactly my recipe, except instead of dried beef, we use a package of that Budding very thinly sliced ham (with the lunch meats), which would be easier on the mouth. LOVE this cheeseball.

Shred a block of sharp cheddar into a bowl, (2 cups) Add, 3 TBS of softened cream cheese 1/2 tsp garlic paste And drizzle small amounts of tasty beer as you mix to get the mixture wet to stick to form a ball (1/4 cap maybe)
You can roll in nuts if you like.
This disappears quickly.

Ah, so many decisions. All sound easy enough. scrappintoee, my aunt always served strawberry jam with her cheese balls. She would make a huge amount, shape it into a ring and putt the jam in the middle. I forgot how good that was.

I'm really, really lazy. I just buy the Wind & Willow cheese ball mixes and use those. They come in a ton of different flavors (both savory and sweet). Every single one I've made has been delicious and they completely disappear every time. I used to make them for nibbles to have out when I hosted crops and people loved them. My favorite is the White Chocolate Amaretto and it is to die for. They are worth checking out. Wind & Willow

1 block cream cheese softened, 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese, 1 package of Hidden Valley Ranch dip mix ( I do NOT use a full package to cut the amount of sodium and it is just as good), finely diced cheap Buddig ham, and a dash of Worchestershire.
Add half the ham to the mix. Leave the other half for rolling the cheese ball in after you form it. Tastes best after a day or two in the fridge.

Velveeta makes these little jars of cheese. My cheeseball is: 1 package cream cheese 1 of those jars of old English cheese 1 of those jars of roka blue cheese FINELY minced onion, maybe a tablespoon, drained and dry Mix all together and serve. I roll in either walnuts or pecans, but sometimes nothing.
A lot of people do not like blue cheese, me being one of them, but this stuff is addicting.

Wow, you've gotten some great ideas! Here's one that is super simple, takes less than a minute to make! It's not a ball shape though. Take a brick of cream cheese, place on a plate, and pour over it a bottle of chili sauce. There is one in the store that is called "homemade" and it is in a short pot-bellied jar. Serve with ritz crackers. So good!

My mom also buys the cheap packaged beef - I believe the brand is Carl Budding and cuts it into little squares instead of jarred beef.

2 bricks of softened cream cheese 2 packages of think sliced beef 1 green onion
Cut the green onion and add it to the softened cream cheese. Roll the sliced beef, cut into small pieces, add it to the cream cheese, refrigerate!
So simple and there is never any left at our parties/tailgates etc. Always a hit!
