I have credit union accounts too - with a fairly large credit union in our State. No fees, free online bill pay and an app - where I can deposit checks right from the app. Works pretty great.

Stupid banks keep stupid inconvenient hours here. They are open 9:30 - 4:30 or something ridiculous like that. A bit later on a Friday. But seeing that I work 9:30 to 5:30, I can never go to the bank before or after work. I opened a new account at a different branch recently because it opens until 1pm on Saturdays.
Mind you, I probably go into a bank no more than once a year so it's kind of a moot point. All of my banking is done electronically and my cash withdrawals are all done through an ATM.

Not for me. We get paid in checks, so I hit the drive thru a couple of times a month. I use a credit union that is right across the street from our business bank. Plus, with my credit union, all Stewarts stores have ATMs for my credit union.

When I moved to my last town I had a toddler. I was excited because there was a branch of the bank between my house and daycare. Then I discovered that there was no drive thru ATM and the hours were M-F 9-4. If I wanted to do any banking, I'd have to drag my kid out of the carseat to go to the ATM in the lobby. So, I changed banks to one that had lots of drive thru ATMs and Saturday hours. When I closed my Key Bank account they asked why...and I told them it was lack of drive thru ATM. She looked at me like I was the laziest person on the planet and said that nobody had ever complained about that before.
I've moved again since then and my new town has a branch of my new bank with great ATM and hours both near my house and very close to my work. I'll actually go into the branch quite often to get cash...because if I'm going to the farmers market I want small bills. I always feel bad giving someone a $20 for $2 worth of veggies.

No. Both our bank and credit union are within a mile of our home.

My bank is convenient. We use a local bank with five locations in town. Their app is free and we can deposit checks via the app. It's locally owned, but part of a network that allows us free ATM access across the state. Previously, we used a national bank and had multiple issues with it. Local banking is much better for us.

The small check cashing thread got me thinking. While going to the bank is often out of my way, it is never more than a mile or so out of the way. Hell even now when I live in the country, I still get to town at least once a week or so. Wells Fargo's ATM, I just have to put the checks in, it reads it, and then deposits it. I don't know if other banks have that. So are banks really that inconvenient? My bank is convenient, I pass by it going to and from work, but it is a small town, and I can get in and out quickly. I think the main inconvenience mentioned on the coworker check cashing thread was the fact that the check contributor did not carry cash, wasn't about to go out of her way to obtain some to pay her $2.00 share of the gift cost, but expected the OP to go out of HER way to cash the coworker's check. Probably a first world problem, but annoying just the same!

Our bank is a few miles away. It's not as convenient since we moved. They have just added the app to let us deposit by phone. We tried that and love it. We very seldom go to the bank. Our checking is free. If we need to use the ATM, we go to our bank. We do get a few free transactions at other ATMs per year though. We'll stay with them because of the rewards and the free checking.

We live out in the country but our bank is right on our way into town. They have an atm right inside the front doors that we can go to anytime of the day. The annoying thing though is my husband's employer doesn't do direct deposit and he gets paid weekly, so we have to stop at the bank and deposit his check each b week. There Are Times He Has Like 3 OR 4 Paychecks IN his wallet at one time. Even though he has to drive past the bank to get home, he often forgets to stop.

Not for us. Our bank is about 3 blocks from our business, and I go almost daily. I'd say about 98% of our customers (percentage of customers, not dollar amount) pay by check. As long as checks come in the mail, I make a trip to the bank. It's part of my daily ritual. Ours is also a locally owned bank, but they have branches all over town - probably 12 branches I'm guessing, so it's always convenient. The girls and guys at my bank know me by first name and provide excellent service. That said, I still do transfers from account to account online and use the online banking service to track balances, etc.

Yes, very inconvenient. I live in a city so they location is not the issue, it is the lines and the waiting. Applies to both the drive through and inside. Average wait is about 20-25 minutes. There are tons of retirees in my area so going to the bank is their recreation. I think many are lonely, bored or just have nothing else to do.
I use online and app banking and do my best to avoid the bank. I have more constructive things to do with my time.

Not inconvenient for me, but I will confess I didn't realize how spoiled I was! We have quite a few banks w/in 10 minutes of our house and the hours at the ones we use always seem to work for us.

Not for me. Though I don't use checks terribly often, I do write one every month or so for various reasons. Mostly for things for dd's school, sometimes for giving gifts of money (weddings, open houses etc) and occasionally something else.
We have accounts with two different banks. Both have branches within two miles of my house. Heck the one has two branches within two miles, the closest is maybe a mile away. I just whip there on my way home from work if needed or on Sat mornings when I go to the grocery store (one of our banks has a branch inside and the other just across the street).
ETA-I work 7-3 so get home in time to get there easily but both have drive thru open until 5:30 or 6:00 most nights. We live in a small (er) town but we somehow have tons of banks or so it seems.

For me it's not, since I deposit through a drive through ATM. But I rarely do anything at my branch, since it's all online. But to withdraw or deposit, it's as simple as driving up to the machine. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

The only time I find the bank inconvenient is when I need to make an appointment, because I always have to take time off of work.
I go to the bank once a week but it is only about 8 blocks away. And the only reason I go is because it has been decided by both my husband and I, that he is no good with a debit card and needs to stick to cash!
Otherwise I pay everything on-line or with my banking app.
