I am not a pro nor will I ever be but I have always liked close up pictures of flowers and such. I can't get the results I want from my current lenses and was hoping for a few recommendations for a macro lens. I dont want to go too cheap and regret it but I can't justify the $1400 or more lenses I have seen online. I did see a 65mm by cannon that might work but wondered if there was another one that anyone would recommend. Thanks so much.

I have a tamron 90mm that I like fine. It runs about $500 but it looks like the Canon 65mm macro is a bit less. I'd recommend either one.
The only issue I've had with the tamron is the fact the focusing mechanism causes external barrel movement.. meaning the barrel length will expand and contract while find the focus. If you aren't careful you can bump the item you are trying to shoot and the movement can scare your subject if you are shooting bugs or other living things.
