Which tip do you use? I am trying to fuse a pocket with sequins inside for my DD, and I either burn through the plastic (using the flat edge tip) or when I use the rolling tip it just doesnt seal.
So whats your secret to getting it to work?

I use the rolling tip to seal. I think the best tip I ever got was to heat it up really thoroughly...a good 15 minutes. Once it's hot, I use a metal ruler as a guide and slowly, but at a steady pace, roll the tip across the section I want to seal.
I will be watching this thread as I have never used the other tip!

The rolling one. I believe the flat one is actually a cutting tip. I do sometimes have trouble getting it to roll if that makes sense. I have a long metal ruler (with cork on the back) that I use for a guide and I have to be careful not to get the side of the tip up on the edge of the ruler or it won't press hard enough to create the fuse. If you go too slow/press too hard, you can still burn through the pocket. So I usually go easy and make more than one pass.

Definitely let it heat up properly and practice on scrap page protectors first. If the Fuse is not hot enough, it makes dots, but doesn't seal. 10-15 min is usually enough. I find using a glass cutting board (leftover from my MM Slice) it works better than fusing on card stock or my desk.

I also have a bunch of scrap pieces from pages I have cut down that I always practice on before doing a real one. I don't use it enough to trust myself to just go for it. And I can make sure it is hot enough that way too.

I also use the rolling tip, although I call it the wheelie tip. I haven't tried the other one. And you have to let it heat up for a while. I usually just free hand it and go slow.

I use the wheel. I do not use the metal ruler guide. For some reason my wheel wouldn't touch down enough through it to seal the pocket properly. I have a huge heat safe cutting mat that I put the pocket on and use the lines on the mat as a guide. Or a free style.

I use the wheel as well. Sometimes it doesn't turn well. I made a few pockets a while back, then gave up. Definitely takes a bit of practice in terms of even pressure etc.

I use the rolly tip. And my glass Slice matt. It takes a bit of patience: you have to go pretty slowly, back and forth over one section before moving on. I've been using the metal guide that came with it. Just wish there were a longer one so I didn't have to move it to make a longer seal.

Maybe it is the ruler I am using (the one that came with it).

And that slot is about worthless since it gets hung up and won't roll smoothly with enough pressure. I like my metal ruler with the cork backing since it doesn't slide around on the glass or the plastic itself.

I also had my wheel get stuck one time and I had to take the thing apart. It's fine now though.

OK, I will try using a different ruler. I have had this thing in a drawer FOREVER. Its about time I figure out how to make it work!

I agree about the ruler. I don't use the slot; I just use the edge. I also find that the wheel turns more easily if I 1)don't press too hard, and 2)use a piece of heavy cardstock underneath what I'm fusing. The glass mat was a little too slippery for the wheel to grab on to.

I, too, found the fuse tool to be more fuss than necessary and returned it. Believe it or not I use my Foodsaver to fuse scrapbook pockets with great success.
