It might be that my audio settings are off and I am coming off of a bad ear infection, but did anyone else struggle with balancing the music portions with the spoken portions? I found it necessary to turn on closed captioning just to catch the dialog.

I watch most shows, especially British ones, with the closed captioning on.

I watch most shows, especially British ones, with the closed captioning on. Maybe that is it. But I'm shocked at how much relevant background conversation and muttering I would be missing let alone the main dialog. I don't have a problem hearing normally. This one is throwing me.

We found the music to be almost unbearably loud. So we adjusted the sound to different volumes for dialogue versus music.
And we always use closed captioning.

Good to know. We haven't started watching it yet, but that's a huge pet peeve of mine. Thankfully, DH runs our tv's audio through a program that can be manually adjusted to help in those situations. (I just have to put up with his screwing around with it all to make the right adjustments.)

I've only watched the first episode and have not had this problem.
I'm not a fan of Elizabeth II, but I am obsessed with Matt Smith.
I also wouldn't call this a "British show". It's a Netflix Original, not a show that aired on British TV.

I didn't notice this in the first two episodes. We aways have closed-captioning on for my husband, but I didn't need it.
I'll pay more attention to the music during the next episode.

I have it on my list but haven't started watching yet. Loud background music is one of one of my pet peeves so it'll be interesting to see what I think.

I haven't been bothered by the music -- but I have turned on closed captioning because of the brisk accents and erudite dialogue!

I watch most shows, especially British ones, with the closed captioning on. Me too. Especially if one of the actors is Scottish. I just watched Season 2 of Broadchurch, and David Tenant is brilliant, but sometimes I need CC to know what he is saying! I have only watched 2 episodes of The Crown, but so far I am really enjoying it.

Is it a netflix only show? It sounds like something I would enjoy watching.
Generally speaking, I also have CC on much of the time. I do have trouble hearing, plus I watch when I can't sleep & don't want to wake up my family.
