Cindy, the whole film was filmed in Minnesota. I can firmly attest to that! The auto dealership was, in real life, Wally McCarthy Lindale Olds in Bloomington, Embers restaurant was in St. Louis Park (maybe about 8 miles from my house), etc. I ate at that Embers many times. Talking TV show!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie, as well as the tv show. I am from WI and catch myself saying "you betcha" waaaay more than many people I know. Yes the movie exaggerates the accent a ton, BUT the story itself is soooooo good!! Frances McDormand killed it as Margie...and William H Macy too. It really is a love it or hate it movie.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

Absolutely love the movie. Love it. Frances McDormand was so good. So was William H. Macy.

I turned it off, maybe 30 minutes into the movie. I was bored. Haven't tried to watch it again, since then. Same for me, I'm always puzzled by the love for it. I just thought it was horrible. Same for me. DH, however, ranks it up there with his favorites. I have to leave the room when he puts it in for the umpteenth time.

We loved that movie. My son had the majority of his many cancer surgeries and treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, so it became a tradition for us to watch Fargo once or twice before we went each time just to get in the Minnesota accent mode.

DH and I both passionately love this movie! It's one of my all time favorites - one that we would just stop and watch at any point if we ever come across it while flipping channels. We quote it, frequently and often describe people as "Funny looking' in a general sorta way." I am a fan of most of the Coen brothers' movies, so I guess you either like them or you don't. Loved the first series as well (didn't get to the second one yet.)
(Walking Dead fans, note that Norm in this movie is "the Cheesemaker" who taught Morgan the way of Aikido)

We don't sound like that at all? good lord. I have some Minnesotan friends... they do sound like that, especially after they've had a few! I love the series and can't wait for Season 3. Jim Gaffigan is going to be in it. Amazing casting. They have some of the quirkiest people cast in roles you would never even think to put them in. When is season 3? I loved the movie. Francis McDormand(not sure I spelled that correctly) was AWESOME!

I LOVE the movie. I think it's so interesting. It has great characters and acting and a perfect balance of humor, greed, violence.
I know it's easy to get upset if you feel like your home is being made fun of or criticized. I hate it when I read crap about Ohio. I think it was meant lovingly though in this case. Yes, the accent is exaggerated, but don't tv and movies often exaggerate? Regular, ordinary life isn't quite as interesting.
But I don't think they meant for the characters to look stupid. Marge is probably one of the smartest, finest characters you can find in a movie. I love her so much. Her husband too. They represent everything that is kind and good and tender. How can you not love that. The only idiots were the same kind of people who would be idiots anywhere--prostitutes, criminals.
At the end when Marge just looks so gutted and tries to figure out why and asks him, telling him there's more to life than money, dontcha know that? I just love that ending.
I definitely need to watch the second season of the series. I liked season 1 but never got around to watching season 2. As much as I liked season 1, I didn't think it compared to the movie.

ROFL.....I woke up from a nap yesterday, and THIS song was literally the FIRST thing that came into my mind (when Steve Buscemi and prostitute are watching Jose Felciano perform) "....Jose Feliciano....ya got no complaints" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba4iXiBFs-U------------------------------------------------------------- jackie ....I enjoyed your comments! -------------------------------- Interesting tidbit for my fellow fans: Frances McDormand (Marge) is married to Joel Coen....

I like the movie a lot and ds and I recently watched it together. He liked it too. But I actually like the series more and I liked season 2 more than season 1. Good to know. We finished season 1 and really liked it. Glad to hear season 2 is even better!

Yes, seriously. He was seen at Mayo from the age of 9 until about 15, then his treatments and checks were done in Los Angeles because they finally got the appropriate equipment needed to monitor him and a technician trained to use it. They didn't have it when we first started out. He loved the accent and totally enjoyed the movie. We tried to turn the trips into mini vacations with positive anticipation of fun and excitement instead of fear and dread. I tried to drive there as often as we could and we would plan the route based on what we could see and do along the way. Why is this odd to you? SaveSave
