Yaaa, so it was on regular TV last night, as hubbs was flipping channels between commercials. We didn't plan on it, but next thing ya know, we ended up watching the last half. We LOVE that movie !!! Now I wanna watch the whole thing again --(it'd probably be our 5th or 6th time?). Annnd, whenever we watch it, we automatically start quoting----last night we probably said " heck ya mean" to eachother a million times Anyhooooo, hubbs saw something very cool last night in the credits that we hadn't noticed before, and I'm curious how many of you diehard fans already know what I'm referring to? We THOUGHT the role of "dead man in field" was played by Prince /aka "The Artist Formerly Known As" , because it LOOKED like his famous symbol that he used back then. Before I googled, I explained to hubby that it COULD'VE been an inside joke, that Prince was from Minnesota, and, perhaps was friends with the Coen brothers and had fun with a cameo role where no one saw his face.... I googled and found out the "dead man in field" wasn't a little cameo role by Prince, but played by a storyboard artist who created a very similar-looking symbol. If you see it up close, it even has a smiley face in the middle Watching it on a TV that's kinda far away, we assumed it was Prince. Anyhoo, while I was googling to find that out, I started reading tons of trivia aboutthe movie that was very enjoyable! I think I'm a bit obsessed IMBD said every scene with Marge and Norm is them either eating or in bed. Hubbs and I get so punchy over how much they TALK ABOUT food We also like how MELLOW he is, and that cute scene where he finds out they're going to use his drawing for the 3 cent stamp. " Well hon, it's ONLY the 3 cent!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm interested to hear your thoughts on that very AWKWARD scene when Marge meets her old high school boyfriend for lunch?

Watching "Fargo" is like going back home for me. I grew up in the same town as the Coen brothers (one is a couple years older than me and the other is a year younger than me). The movie was filmed in my hometown and it's fun to see the landmarks, some of which are no longer there. My husband and I went on our first date at the Embers restaurant that is shown in the movie (of course we went there many years before the movie...LOL). If I close my eyes when Jean speaks, she sound identically like my daughter's late godmother's mother. The accent is perfect.

The story with the old friend from school was this:
Up until that lunch Margie was taking things at face value, believing in the good of people and taking their word. She had already met once with William h Macy (forgot his characters name) and took his word.
After her lunch date, she talks to someone else from high school who tells her that guy was full of shit, the cheerleader girl was still alive and happily married. She realizes she was played and had really believed his sob story.
So she then reflects upon herself that maybe things aren't what they seem and decides to requestion William h Macy--and that's when he flees the interview.
It was pivotal in her development as a person and a cop. She really hadn't experienced evil like that before.
I'm a huge Fargo fan! "Yah, I think I'm gonna barf!"

Hated that movie. Exaggerated and makes Midwesterners look like bumbling idiots. I also was offended by New in Town, the one with Renee Zellwenger in it.

I can't believe you other MN people like it? We don't sound like that at all? good lord. One of the TV shows was based in the town I work in. They filmed NOTHING of it here in town, basically used nothing but the name. NONE of it was filmed in MN.

My sister used to work for a pool chemical company that shipped throughout the states. One of the customers asked her on the phone if she was from Fargo. She was so pissed. We still laugh at that to this day. I'll admit, I do have some sort of dialect that I am often asked where I am from (40 miles down the road

My dd goes to college in the cities, the comment she gets about her accent there is "are you from Canada?!" HA

I have seen it once, and so many years ago that I can't remember much.
Obviously I didn't LOVE it. I liked it, but it is not on my list of "must see again."

I turned it off, maybe 30 minutes into the movie. I was bored. Haven't tried to watch it again, since then.

Add me to the "hated it" group. Don't know if it was the plot or what but I was so bored when I tried to watch this film. Also the accent was very difficult to understand (I'm from Belgium). So glad to know people in real life from MN don't speak this way.

I love it. I love a movie that is full of characters and real people, not beautiful people. Sure there is some poetic license in exaggerating those characters, but I'm also sure it is based in some reality of people the Coen Brothers have come across over the years. SaveSave

Minnesotan here, and I love it. Yes the accent is terribly exaggerated, but I like the Coen Brother's work and I think the actor's did a great job. The Coen's are known for dark comedy and I love comedy even if it's making fun of me!

I like the movie a lot and ds and I recently watched it together. He liked it too. But I actually like the series more and I liked season 2 more than season 1.

I love this movie (and both TV series) - love the quirky accent and the way Marge waddles through the snow - proper unglamorous pregnant walk!!

The auto dealership was, in real life, Wally McCarthy Lindale Olds in Bloomington, Embers restaurant was in St. Louis Park (maybe about 8 miles from my house), etc. I ate at that Embers many times.

We don't sound like that at all? good lord. I have some Minnesotan friends... they do sound like that, especially after they've had a few! I love the series and can't wait for Season 3. Jim Gaffigan is going to be in it. Amazing casting. They have some of the quirkiest people cast in roles you would never even think to put them in.

One of my favorite movies. I just started watching the tv show too. The TV show is fabulous. Even better second season. I just googled: Season 3 probably won't be out until at least spring of 2017. They're supposed to start filming this month. Filming in winter is integral to their concept, so there's a longer lag between their seasons.
