(I know we are not all USA peas, but non-US peas can feel free to make a "I'm sick of hearing about the US election" layout ) So, USA peas - are you making an election day layout? What are you including? Are you making it real time or after today, when we have all the results? I think I'm doing it real-time. I just printed the Google doodle. Haha. It's gonna be a crazy day!

Not American here (and not living in the US) but the outcome of the US election will somehow make it in my PL spread this week.
We've been absolutely fascinated (and terrified) with this US election over here in France. Hopefully, it's all sunshine and confetti with the end result. If not, I'll probably just keep it at a "Bye bye 'Bama, remember you're my Barack" card. I'll genuinely miss your current POTUS and FLOTUS...

I made one already. I was able to vote early. I took a selfie to send to my dd so I used that. I didn't think about making a layout of the outcome though. Maybe I should. It could include a selfie of me either crying or jumping in the air. Lol, JK.

In my 30 days album. Not a separate one. I have my kids in patriotic colors (their 4th of July clothing, except one kid is just in red, white and blue because I can't find his tee) and then plan on taking selfies with the husband later with us wearing our 'I Voted' stickers. Might even throw in a few pics of us eating pizza as we watch the results roll in.

I wasn't going to but I took pics of my two sons and I in line to vote, so I told them to hang on to their 'I voted' stickers. I will scrap those photos but whether or not I do a layout about the results of the election depends if the person we voted for wins.
When President Obama won the first time I had taken photos of him at a rally so I had those scrapped. Scrapyourtrip.com does some paper for specific candidates. Stampin Station does presidential seal paper.

Nope. But we've been known to grab the newspaper the next day and store it away. We also got dh's uncle's newspapers from Kennedy and other important events through history.

Yes! I've been collecting ephemera from this election for a few weeks now, and I plan to make a multi-page "chapter" in my scrapbooks about this election as a lot of this election pulls directly from my college degree focus (sociology/women's studies). This morning I sat down and took a screen shot of the FiveThirtyEight.com election forecast page and rearranged in in photoshop to be a 12x12 page. I uploaded it to my flicker page. So, if anyone wants to save a copy for their own scrapbooks they are more than welcome to download it at full resolution.

Has anyone found any (non-biased) printables or cut-files to use? I'd like to create a somewhat "clean" layout.

I like this idea! I took a picture of my poling place, which is my friend and neighbor's house. I also took a screenshot of the Google doodle. Thanks for sharing your layout, rune2484. That looks like agree item to use. I'll also add my "I Voted" sticker, ballot receipt, and I took a photo of my sample ballot. I'm sure there will be more to add as the night goes on...

I was not going to make a LO. Watching the news story today of those who went to Susan B. Anthony's grave after voting made me want to do a LO. When I first registered to vote I carried a Susan B Anthony coin in my hand and held it as I registered. I did document that day. I want to document how important this day is historically. To the ladies who were at her grave today. Thank you for inspiring and empowering.

I am going to hang out on SBR today. I am still going to scrap the vote photos because I do think voting is worth recording whatever the result.
When I do scrap them maybe I'll come back to this thread and post the layout. I actually got my photos printed and picked up from Walmart last evening.

Just going to leave some wine (and hot cocoa for the non-drinkers), blankets and hugs for anyone who needs a bit of comfort after yesterday. I think that you can still find a way to record this moment that doesn't stir up too many negative feelings. Like your own voting sticker, the pictures of the queue in the cemetary to leave the "I voted" sticker on Susan B. Anthony's tombstone, a headline/cover of a news outlet that resonates with your own feelings, a compilation of tweets and social media posts on the matter that speak to your soul, a simple word like kakocracy. But it may take a bit of time to heal and recover from the initial shock first... Best of luck, lovely Peas!

As a Canadian, all I am seeing on social media and FB is how proud fellow Canadians are right now that they live in Canada at a time like this in history. I definitely want to document this for my grandchildren.

I did document it today. I am crying and in shock. I am not angry at all. I did some journaling about the world's reactions. I also wrote about how heartbreaking it was for women to not break the ultimate ceiling. I did write about how people are frightened. The reactions are history. I also wrote of hope I have for the next four years. I also wrote about my feeling too and how emotional the day was for me. This was a historical day and an election for both parties. I wanted to capture that.
Trust me I get it. I wanted to hide my PL book and bury it. Skip everything until December Daily. This election left a very bad taste in my mouth. I am in one of the States that had the most hateful campaigns. I did not cover very much election in my PL this year I wanted it to be over. It was a healing to write how I felt. I know I will love reading my entry again someday. I will probably smile and say "I can't believe how upset I was."

I took a picture with my kids after voting that I will include in my PL. I need to do some journaling today while it's still raw and fresh, but I will probably make it hidden in the LO because it is so emotional and personal. I couldn't do a full page spread- I'm too hurt and still processing and honestly don't want to see his name or face right now.

I will include voting early and the results of the presidential election in my PL album. Whenever the NC gubernatorial election is officially declared, I'll include that too. But an entire 12x12 for an election that left me with no real positive options for my country or state? Nope. Just going to continue to focus on the positive in my own little world or family, friends, and work and remind myself that I will be the change I was to see around me.

I know I will love reading my entry again someday. I will probably smile and say "I can't believe how upset I was." @amayalylac your first post about holding the Susan B Anthony coin in your hand brought a tear to my eye, because even though I'm British (and live in England) I have visited Susan B Anthony's house and have huge respect for her and the women she inspired. I count myself amongst that number. As for the outcome - you captured it exactly how I would have done. I just had to thank you for sharing how you felt and how you reacted. Bravo!

rune2484 That page is beautiful, but I'm wondering how you feel about it now that we know it was completely wrong...? Not to get into a big old political discussion, but I'm curious if your documenting plans changed any after the result came through. Did you make another similar page showing how states actually voted? I had to wait a day to write down anything about the result in my journal (which is also a kind of scrapbook) and all the things I had planned to document went out the window with the result. I'm not sure what I want to document and remember about this election, although I think it would be good to write a long reflection on the campaign, what I had hoped for, what actually happened, and how we all reacted to that. It might help to process the feelings.

I think it's at times like these when journalling can be a cathartic process. When I've had anxious/low spots in my life, I have written a bit about how I've felt and have found it good to put it all down on paper, whether or not I go back and read it again. Quite often I write such things in concealed places or tuck it behind the PL card in a pocket, so unless I went looking for it, I probably wouldn't find it. I think it's the writing down that allows me to admit to myself how I'm feeling, because usually I hide behind a smile and a brave face just like many of us do.

I'm still processing my grief, finding myself near tears a lot of the time. I'm not sure how I will document election day now. My son, who lives in DC, wrote an amazing piece that he posted on Facebook. It's about understanding and accepting why so many people voted the way they did, and continuing to exercise our rights as citizens. I'll probably copy that for posterity. He is only 22, but very wise. It really helped.
On a somewhat related note, I'm so grateful for all of you here on the GS board. It's a real sh*t storm over on the NSBR. I really can't take it any more, and blocked a few peas for the very first time ever.

elegantsufficiency- Thank you for the lovely words. I can not even convey properly how much they meant to me. Thank you.
joblackford- My book is half PL & half journal. Writing my feelings and documenting the day was very healing. I still cried as I wrote it down. I am so glad I wrote. Write down funny things too.
I just finished my LO for today. I used a DP that had encouraging words. I decorated my page with encouraging words. I wrote my goals for the next four years.
oaksong- Your DS is an inspiration. I feel the same way he does. I did post some things on the NSBR board. First time I ever talked about politics. I am glad nobody raged on me. I wanted to empower & comfort.
To the Trump supporters. Don't be afraid to talk about your LO's.
