We have a maltipoo - that needs daily brushing. If some one told me that in the beginning I missed it, but anyway she is 10 months old and we are trying to develop the daily habit with her - she dislikes it. So, I'm looking for tips, suggestions, products, etc that would help the process for both of us - we really like her hair longer. So your tips are greatly appreciated.

Perhaps a different brush? We have one that my dog cannot stand, but he's much better for a different one. I usually put him on a leash and have him sit to start, then of course treats! I don't know about your specific breed though.

Brush when she is exhausted. Also give her a favorite chewy. A favorite brush is good too. What are you using now? Also, keep it VERY short in the beginning and move up to longer brushing periods. You always want to end on a successful note. Even starting with one minute and being successful is better.

our dogs are very food motivated, so they get treats (afterwards, lol). But the treats are there and they can see them, so they know they have to be good.
One of them (he's about 5 yrs old) can not STAND to be brushed, so I have to wait till he's about asleep, then kind of sneak up on him and hold him down as I'm doing it. I do it on the floor with him laying down; since he's a Sheltie (he's about 30 lbs) I also have to kind of lay partway on him so he won't squirm away. I make it half brushing, half petting, because he loves being petted and skritched.
I also have to do it in stages, with him-- I can only do about half of him in one sitting.
Make it part of giving extra attention and affection, and hopefully that will help you out!
eta: yeah, the brush or comb you're using makes a difference. Our dogs have really long hair, and I try not to *pull* too much on it-- I hated when my mom brushed my hair like that, so I know it probably hurts them! I use a wide comb first to get the main tangles undone and get all the loose undercoat out, then only switch to a slicker brush at the very end.

We started with a palm held brush from Wal-Mart but the groomer said that wasn't doing anything good. Just pushing the hair down on top of the tangles. He said we need a tighter comb but he didn't see one. The ones he had were too wide tooth. I ordered a comb from Amazon, but it is the wide tooth as well - so now I'm not sure. I borrowed a flea comb from my mother and have been using it. Combing very slowly not to pull her hair... and I did try the toy and treats at the end last night. As well as the petting mixed with brushing.

Mine used to fight to be brushed first. Now the oldest doesn't care for it since she is getting older. We started when they came home with us. We just did about 30 seconds and played with their feet a lot. I use a Furminator, but some people don't like that brush. I have two very hairy dogs and need it.

I have a Maltese who needs daily brushing. Like your pup, Lola hated getting brushed when she was a puppy. My groomer recommended using a metal dog comb instead of a brush. It made a huge difference. She will now sit calmly while I comb her. I use a comb like this one.

I have 2 shih tzus. Toby, our newest member, loves to be brushed. Sadie does not. She has super sensative skin (it is pink).
Anyways, I asked their groomer what brush she uses and bought that one.
Sadie tolerates it.
We do the wire brush, then use the slicker comb for any tangles/mats, and then brush again.
I do Toby first and then Sadie complies better.
They also get treats when done.

Also do one area, treat, give a break. Then do another area, treat break.
After a week do 2 areas. Etc etc until you can the entire dog in one sitting.
