My step-daughter asked for her assignment this year for Thanksgiving and she said she wanted to do something different, so I thought I'd assign her the stuffing and I like it with chopped apples.
I've never made one but I love it when I eat it!
So, she follows directions well but is on a budget so it can't be too expensive.
Edited to add - This won't go in the bird so I guess I should call it dressing?
Any recipe suggestions?
Thanks!
Mary K

my grandparent's stuffing was cooked prunes, chopped apples and chopped celery. I used chopped apples and chopped celery ..keeps the turkey moist.

Chopped celery sounds like a good addition too!
I think that I should add that the stuffing won't really go into the bird though. So I guess it should be called dressing?

I make cornbread dressing with diced apples, raisins or craisins and toasted walnuts. It's really good. I have no recipe. I use the bagged cornbread mix and add melted butter and chicken broth. I also sauté onions and celery to add.

I'd let her choose her own recipe. Half the fun of sharing a meal is sharing dishes. If you want dressing with apples, you can always make it yourself sometime. Of course, if she asked you for a recipe, that is completely different.

I make a basic recipe, but add chopped onions, celery, apples, cranberries and cooked jimmy dean sausage. It satisfies me because it has the sweet with the sausage and it satisfies hubby because of the sausage. lol

I always note how inclusive you are without it seeming to be submissive (which sounded weirder when I typed it out than I meant it to be. lol) it's more like compromise without resentment. 😃
