Unfortunately, tonight my sons and I attended a memorial service for 2 boys who were killed is a car accident and who have been best/inseperatable friends since they met.
One of the boys had just gotten his drivers license three days before the deadly accident. He was driving west at sunset, stopped at a stop sign but pulled out in front of a semi driving about 55 mph, carrying corn that had just been harvested (we live in a very rural area). Please pray for the boys, families and friends.

I'm so very sorry!! I lost a 16 yo friend in the same way - her girlfriend had just purchased a new to her used car, was also a new driver, and there was a tragic accident. It shakes up the whole community. (((HUGS)))

You must not be far from me, then, as this was just a few communities over from mine.
Such a tragedy, those boys had their whole lives ahead of them.

I am so sorry to hear this. They and your child will be in my thoughts.
We too live in a rural area. 1/4 mile or less in any direction from out house is 55-65 mph. My children have had a friend's dad hit and killed, seen an accident where someone they didn't know died, and driven up on the aftermath of two seniors who had just graduated. In all either someone ran the stop sign onto the fast road or pulled out when they shouldn't have.
When the grief dies down each time, we use it as a teaching moment and remind them that I'd rather they be a couple minutes late than not come home at all. My oldest is only 15 and I hope that has been drilled into his head.
The tragedy that these young people face when losing their own is really tough.
