During the day, my 2 cats follow me around. Often they bother me when I am on the computer. They are both indoor and outdoor cats so they are getting stimulation that way. I think I need some new cat toys for them. They love the laser light but I can't spend all day playing that with them. What are your suggestions for good stimulating toys for cats? By the way, they are 1-1/2 years old and are female. I read that that is the age when they start to settle down. Maybe they are doing that but still get a bit restless.

A puppy?
My cat loved a cat bag. It made noise when they walked in it. Really irritating.

This: www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=28433is really popular at our house. We have 3 four year old cats and 2 one year old cats, and it is enjoyed by both age groups. It can also be played with by more than one cat at a time, which is nice. We liked ours so much, I bought another one and donated it to the animal shelter we support.

Usually it is the small things that my 7 month old kitten spends the most time with. You know the non-toy stuff that gets all the attention while the expensive cat toys just sit around. So far it has been: a pipe cleaner - just that one pipe cleaner - she plays with it endlessly a empty toilet paper roll is worth hours of fun for her a rolled up small tube of paper that has been glued - leftovers from a craft a box turn it upside down over her with the flaps up so she can get in and out and she loves it a pile of magazine pages that have been torn out
Believe me I know what you mean about needing to keep them stimulated and out of your hair for an hour here and there. My baby has taken to bringing her current toy up on the table where I am working to get me to play. I have never seen a cat do this before. If I don't play she starts doing mad dashes across the table in front of me strewing papers, pencils and everything else all over. I call them kamikaze runs. She knows she gets in trouble for doing this but can't seem to stop herself. That is when she goes into time out - the bathroom. It helps her to calm down. I view it as helping her instead of discipline cause she actually needs to calm down and regain control.(Today she stepped on the red ink pad in her run and had to be cleaned up before I could let her down on the carpet!)

The Cat Dancer (but your involvement is needed), boxes, brown paper bags, plastic bags (likes the noise), a huge lawn and garden bag, DS's socks, leftover ladybugs from our annual autumn ladybug invasion, the highly reluctant non-participatory dog, imaginary things up the wall near the ceiling...
