Actually, once you have a clear organizational plan in place, it makes clean up FASTER. I agree - when everything has a place and you know where that place is - clean-up is quick and easy. And it never stops amazing my family when I can tell them exactly where to find something even if I'm in another room or not home..."white cardstock is in the top right corner of the shelves on my desk" "adhesive is in the front of the top drawer under the desk" and so on...when they have to look in a dozen places to find their keys....

Things have been so hectic around here since school started that my studio has become a dumping ground. Normally I try to have friends come over and crop in November when my DH is at the cabin hunting with his buddies, but this year I never got things picked up enough to even consider it. It'll probably take me the better part of a weekend just to get enough crap put away to work on the Christmas PJs I like to make for my family, so I'd better get to it pretty quick!

I've just been working on this. I finally finished my backlog of albums and decided to tackle my scrapping supplies. I keep everything stored away and only pull out things as needed. Years ago I made the mistake of sorting all of my paper pads by color and whether it was light/dark/bright/distressed, etc.. Never again. But until I ever work through it all (unlikely), that will stay sorted in 2 gal. ziplocs (with coordinating cardstock and scraps) in the big old 12x12 drawers that were such a rage years ago. In another set of drawers, I have all my recently purchased pads (with their scraps and branding strips) and a section for travel/vintage.
My biggest problem was the embellishments and stamps. I've spent weeks on Youtube watching organizing videos and room tours to get ideas. What I've decided to try, based on my scrapping style, is to put everything in baggies/sleeves in 3" binders. This will allow me to just flip through and see what I've got instead of forgetting what stamps I've got, or those metal embellies that have languished in a drawer forever. I've done all my alphas the same way (stamps included). I also did a reasonably sized purge, so only the things I think likely to be used are being inventoried into the system.
I still have my old tackle box (remember when those were popular for tool storage?) but it's mostly empty now. I've found that things would get forgotten there and it was NEVER the first place I'd go for anything. I like to keep my tools, pens, scissors, etc., out within reach when I'm in the zone. (I found the cutest "beer bottle" holder in the Target dollar spot, even if it was way over a dollar, that I've put little cups inside as dividers for all my stuff, even the tall stuff, and it even has a handle!) Only time will tell how well it works.
Honestly, I'm feeling a little adrift now that I don't need to watch anymore craft room videos before bed.

Im pretty organized, all of my cardstock is grouped by color and embellishments are sorted by type. When I first started getting monthly kits I took them apart and put them in my stash, I soooo regret doing that now. Now that I have a baby I need the kits to help me scrap faster but it would be too much of a pain to try and put them together again.

I like organizing almost as much as scrapping. My husband says I could organize the Container Store better than they do. I would like to try.

I think it's organized enough. I have themed papers separated from regular pattern papers. 12x12 cardstock is not separated while 8.5x11 is along with the scraps in sheet protectors. Bigger themes are in Iris cases, smaller themes in page protectors in a basket. Specific projects are in Iris cases or they are in 12x12 envelopes. Generic embellishments are sorted by color. I don't have a good system for remembering die cuts whether it's manual, die cuts, or in the SCAL program. It makes sense for some things and it's very random for others, but I know where most things are and I don't share my supplies.

I think I'd fall into the OCD category. My cardstock is arranged by color, my patterned papers are by type, color (generic prints), brand (for favorite brands), or theme. My misc supplies are in drawers by theme, and I have one set of drawers for non-themed color sorted. I have jars for buttons, veneers, brads, glitzy brads, leftover sequins, etc., drawers for specific supplies by type--colored pencils, colored typewriter ribbons, distressing, watercolors, etc. I start with a clean desk or I go nuts, and I clean up between projects. When I'm too lazy to clean up, I have a small tray under my desk (out of sight) that I shove the loose stuff in until I'm having a day I don't feel like scrapping, but I do want to be in my room, then I sort and re-organize. I have 2 bowls on my desk, one for loose/lost die cuts, one for loose/lost metal/ribbon/rhinestones etc. That's about as much "random" as I can handle. I have everything labeled, and generally know where everything is. Honestly, I'm jealous of the people that can "loosely organize", because when I feel like things are out of place, it's disabling, and I can't work around the chaos. If I don't clean up, I won't start a new project until I DO clean up, and I won't work no matter how much I feel like it. We must be sisters!

I definitely am NOT! Some things I can put my hands right now, I will let you know when I find everything else. I wish I was.

I think I am organized just enough, but other people think I'm insane and very OCD. LOL When I go to a crop, I can pack up in about 5 minutes because most things are usually put back already as I wasn't using them on the last thing I was working on. I have to have a clean desk with everything put in it's home before I can start working/playing. This is me exactly. My desk needs to be clean and neat before I can begin doing anything crafty and I craft in an orderly manner, too. My best crafty friend is the complete opposite - looks like a tornado has hit her work space by the time she is done making just one card/lo. We laugh about our different crafting methods all the time. ETA: I have changed how I store things over the last few years. Before when I was creating specifically for publication calls, it was important to know brands of all the products I was using. I stopped doing that 2-3 years ago, and not too long ago revamped everything to be sorted by color. I still have loose 12x12 in brand specific dividers, but that may change eventually. All my cardstock is individually separated out by color (similar to Jennifer McGuire's system). I have all my embellishments split up by color - each color has it's own container in one of these Iris 4x6 photo holders with 16 containers. My buttons and ribbon are the only things not included in the 4x6 holders - they each have their own system, also by color.
