Well, I hit the recycling center, Walmart, and the grocery store. Starting on my kitchen now, while the rest of the house is still asleep!

I have been on a cleaning binge these days. Cleaned out junk drawers, boxes in the garage that have been there 14 years, but the worst was the basement. We had water once and apparently - ugh - Wait, I think I need a spoiler so people who are truly grossed out by stuff don't have to read it mice. Mice droppings. SO unbelievably gross. I feel like the more I do, the more I have to do!! I'm going to try the Magic Eraser for my stupid glass-top stove. If there was gas where we were, I'd never EVER get a glass-top stove. Hateful. Mine is new and hateful. I have one great tip for wood floors: Rejuvenate My dogs had done a number on my hardwood floors and this stuff made them look stunning again. It is pricey for the amount, but it lasts a good long time. My first application was my steps and that lasted a good several months. It's been on all my floors for about 2 months now and they still look fab. Mice happen to the best of us. My home backs up to an open field and when it starts getting cold, they start looking for a warm place to hole up in. I have caught 4 so far in the garage just this past week. Hopefully, they won't make it in my house this year. I hate those nasty critters

While this is fresh in my mind, can I ask if anyone uses vacuum bags for storing large items like bedding? I've steered clear of them because I've felt that items such as pillows or duvets (comforters?) would never regain their fluffiness after being sealed inside a bag for at least a few months. I suppose I would like to know if you like using them, what's the longest you have kept something in one and did the item go back to its original size and shape. Plus anything else you would like to share about them! I have bought them over the years and tried a couple different brands. They don't work well for me. I get things in, suction it, lock it closed and it looks great! Then after a day or so, it deflates! So frustrating! I store them in the attic, so not sure if that is the problem (too hot, too cold). But we used them to pack for the beach and some bags were great, others weren't. My friend loves them though! She does it right!

It is pricey for the amount, but it lasts a good long time. My first application was my steps and that lasted a good several months. It's been on all my floors for about 2 months now and they still look fab. We have had that problem too. It goes with the territory of where we live unfortunately. When I ask the cats what they think they are playing at, allowing it to happen, they just look at their claws, look at me and shrug their shoulders. I LOVE my glass top stove and wouldn't have anything else! When something is burnt on and won't come off with the scraper I pour a table spoon of boiling water over the burnt on bit and wait for a little while for it to soften, then scrape off. I've found Hob Brite (I expect you have something similar) brilliant and only need a paper towel to wipe it on and off. Sometimes it needs a bit more elbow grease. Do you have hob conditioners over there? They are supposed to form a film on the glass once it's clean, to make it more difficult for things to stick. I can't say I've noticed any difference with using it but something like that may help. I love Magic Erasers too! They can be tricky to buy here for some reason. So now all I want is Hob Brite. Who knew that that is what the plates are called! Thank you for the recommendation. I can order some here!

finally got DH to clean the dryer vent and behind/under the dryer last night - I've been asking him to do this for months. Of course, my dryer isn't hooked back up yet but...it's a start

dryer finally got hooked up late last night - yay!
I had planned to clean the dining room yesterday but DH said "you've been cleaning all week, take a day off" which I'm pretty sure translated to 'please don't clean because I just want to take a nap and I don't want to have to deal with my crap that's stacked in the dining room'
Today I cleaned my bathroom (except for the tub - hoping one of the girls will do that) and dusted my bedroom and vacuumed (around dh's piles of stuff, sigh)

Turkey is thawing in the fridge and I'll put it in the pot to brine tonight. My mom arrived yesterday evening, and today we make the drive to pick up DD at college and drop off her roommate at the airport. Easy supper planned for tonight to get rid of all the leftovers, drop off mom's car at the repair shop, and hopefully to bed early.
What's on your plate today?

So far today, I've picked and hoovered DD16's room and stripped her bed. I've cleaned the main (kids) bathroom (had DD10 scrub the tub for me). I've hoovered the spare room (currently empty).
Next up is making my bed and hoovering my bed room - I suspect there's laundry of DH's that needs putting away as well.
edited - bed made, bedroom hoovered, DH's laundry is put away. DD10 scrubbed our tub and mopped that floor (I cleaned the rest of the bathroom yesterday)
Next is the living room...
edited again - living room is tidied, dusted, and hoovered (except for the pile of stuff in the corner waiting for DH to put it away)
Next is the family room...

Today is the bulky item pickup I'd scheduled from Waste Management, yay! Dahlia is TEN, and today I am getting rid of her stroller and car seat from the garage. Last night I actually made a card for someone, because my ROOM IS CLEAN AND ORGANIZED again and I was able to find everything I needed quickly, got the card done and cleaned up every tiny bit of it up again after. I was so motivated I did a couple of mundane little things, like I had two small items that had gotten chipped and needed Krazy gluing. Pulled those out and got that done really fast too. Tonight I'm going to do a once over on the house, dust, vacuum, mop the kitchen floor. Then to the prep work for tomorrow's baking. I'm going to fill one more bag for a Goodwill run I'll hopefully make this coming Saturday. I'll also wrap two gifts, and oh man, I need to make a gift wrapping run. I'm out of everything. Tape, paper, bows, tags.

Well, it's the last bit of November before we start a new thread. What do you want to accomplish before the month is out?
My mom went home yesterday, and I'll be bringing DD back to college today. So I'm looking forward to getting a few things done this week. I still have some fall yard work to finish, an Ikea bookcase to build, and a bunch of donations to bring to Goodwill. But most of what I need to do is just plain old cleaning up.
Finished my tea and starting with my kitchen.

I finally finished organizing the last of my paper piles/file cabinet. Got rid of tons of stuff, put lots into evernote and filed the must keep items. I can't believe how excited I am about this! lol

I love this thread! It's good to know that we are all cleaning together! I will start cleaning again in a few days. After Monday, I would have spend about 35 hrs. in the car over this holiday. Three separate 5-6 hour trips. Our house went from clean and organized before I picked my daughter up at college to messy with all our luggage from the trips. I do live with very messy people! haha! But I love them!

DS and the grands (13 & 8) just left. It's like a tornado hit my house. DH & I are generally pretty tidy, so I can't wait to tackle the disaster zone. It was all crazy fun, though!
This week I have to empty everything out of the master bath and the linen closet in there. The painter is coming the following week, yay!

Today I hit my "holy crap, I have got to deep clean this mess!" stage. Already finished the master bathroom and will tackle my bedroom next.

I've been sorting paperwork, not even doing anything with it, just sorting it. I can't believe how long it took. I want a nap.

Okay, I want to get my first floor in shape before the end of the month. I don't know if it's possible, but I'm going to try.
I have more paperwork to sort through, and lots of clutter to put away including thanksgiving stuff that needs to be brought to the basement.
Half hour of cleaning starts in 3 * 2 * 1 go!

Took care of my recycling mess, and brought a bunch of corrugated out to the back of my minivan (in the rain)
Breakfast break, then back to work!

I had to run some errands this morning and will soon start on laundry. I was driving my daughter back to college Monday and got home Tues. The two kids managed to get a bunch of Christmas decorations our of the attic and started putting them up. And left the containers and the mess all over! And then they put up more than usual, so I am in a very cluttered house. I am not a fan of decor!

Maryland, they probably had the best time unpacking everything. ... try not to get upset about the boxes! And by putting up more than usual, you get a chance to see everything and decide if there are any decorations that are ready to retire come January
